Erahsto Felicio, Alameda affiliate, talks about black people and territory

  • Erahsto Felício's intervention at the launch event of Alameda in Brazil dealt with the importance of recognising the movements that go beyond June 2013, that came before and remain today, such as the struggle of black peoples. Erahsto talks about the defense of the black body as territory and emphasizes the importance of learning from the base to create a coherent struggle.

    Erahsto Felício is a history professor at the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA), he works in solidarity to base social movements, homeless movements, quilombola movements, indigenous territories and fishing communities. He has worked as part of the communications team of Teia dos Povos - an articulation of peoples and territories of struggle), and he is the co-author of 'Por Terra e Território: caminhos da revolução dos povos no Brasil'. He currently works on projects that connect land issues with the radical environmentalism of popular movements. He is interested in theories dealing with political practice, the political theory of different peoples and with the construction of emancipated territories through popular autonomy.
