Popping the clutch while your rear tire is mid slid is a skill that comes with time. Planting your foot for stability during the drift helps the rider to gauge how far down they are from the ground during the donut. Keeping the rear tire spinning and in the drift is very important to successfully not get highsided or lowsided off of your motorcycle. You should always wear protective riding gear when learning a new trick including, a DOT approved helmet, riding gloves, Kevlar jeans, motorcycle jacket, and ankle high rider's shoes. Tires also should be at the proper PSI to ensure good traction to the ground.

Hello. How is trademark rear wheel ? How much pressure? thank
Awesome video
are you in the stl area? i recognize 636 in your name. its my areas phone number code
Thanks for going over multiple outcomes for different inputs.
Kind of curious on the 'comfortable side', growing up on BMX and mountain bikes, occasional dirtbike and riding a street bike for the past several years, my left has always been my more comfortable side. I wonder if the kickstand was on the other side(even go as far as saying switch gear shifter+brake), it would be the other way around? I bet there's something to with always throwing your right leg over something. On motorbikes I always attributed it to the right foot-rear brake part.
Dritbikes def prepared me for those oh-shit moments on the street when the bike slips around some.
I bet dirt guys are used to the rear going out uncontrollably
Best to practice on someone else’s motorcycle
HAHHAHAHAHA Ya if you want to buy their bike then yes lol

I always thought it was just a stunt skill until I saw somebody in the street use it to escape an accident. The guy had total control of his bike and avoided an intersection pull out. I think it's a great skill that could save your life.
I actually avoided an accident too. Minivan cut me off, I hit the brakes....I wasn't gonna stop in time....luckily I Accidentally locked the rear, and felt the Ass-end start to kick left....so I stayed CALM, and gracefully drifted Off the road, and ironically RIGHT into the entrance of a motorcycle dealer!(as kids were watching this go on...).....The fucked up part, is the parking lot entrance was littered with pot holes, and I managed to dodge ALL of them.....time slowed down, I knew if I panicked, I was fucked....so I just kinda "went" with it.....It's kinda funny how when you try to "trick" yourself into enjoying the Danger/Fear....you usually pull out fine!
Yep, this is a practical skill to have forsure!
I was on a country road and came up on a deer standing in the center of the road. So I decided if I locked up the brakes I’d be below 15mph by the time I hit him. Dodging and hitting a tree was not an option, with huge trees right on the ditch line. My rear brake started to squall, and came around on the left. The sound startled the deer and she bolted just in the nick of time, I left off the brakes and sailed right past! I thought about giving her a slap on the rump as I went by, but I didn’t want to push my luck. This all happened in half of a second.
Any sort of skill that gives you an improvement to your driving or riding is a useful skill. Drifting in cars would be a 'stunt' skill in most situations until the time you end up having to use it.
It's that initial freak-out of feeling the rear tire in a side-ways skid, especially if you've trained your mind to expect solid traction at all times and equate danger = skidding. I think people who have a lot of dirt skill before moving to street have a lot less sensitivity toward loss of wheel traction because dirt riding is all about managing wheels that are skidding all over the place.

during my msf course i drifted the bike. My instant reaction was that from motocross and to drop my inside foot down for more traction and control it. Let's just say they dont take to kindly to you drifting at the course lol.
That is what I think of as well. Hope you enjoy the rest of the channel! Please subscribe!
My first drift experience was entering a highway at 60mph after a slight rain. Also my first tank slapper. ..also my first "I'll just ride in the right lane today"
I once did a mini wheelie in driving school.. cause I wanted to see if taking off from higher rpms would lift the front if i tried. The driving teacher was pretty cool with it actually, i just kinda argued that it helps me understand the bike better and to be safer.
@@IgorDz yeah same for me and I nearly forced a pick up off the two lane highway it was already raining, night time, visor covered in water. Wild time.
Step 1: Lock the rear tire
My ABS: Nah, I don‘t think so
haha. just pull the fuze.
😅
Step 0: Have a bike without ABS or one where you can turn it off :D

you are such a great teacher. i really hope you archieve your goals dude. keep on
can you use this same technique for faster drifts? i saw jorge lorenzo's dad teaching how to drift by getting into turns at the very edge of the tires and really fast.. it works but this is totally different since he does not use the rear brake, knee on the ground is you main support and its a rule but more important it looks much harder and very easy to lowside doing it. you can check his videos searching "chicho lorenzo derrapando". greetings from argentina dude!
Much love brother! Glad you like the channel!

We need a “How to” on Washing your motorcycle
If you need that then you don’t deserve a motorcycle
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHA Anything to keep you guys smiling I guess lol
you don't!
actually lots of people think they're washing their motorcycles correctly but they do not there is no shame in learning anything even if it might be as simple as brushing your teeth even brushing teeth is done wrong ask dentists and they'll tell you that almost 40% of people do it wrong@@Kendrickshayesjr
its serious.. some weaboo doesn't even try to wash their bike
You forgot to mention 1 thing.Set your rear suspension to its hardest. The stiffer the rear suspension, the better you can feel the drift. It feels a lot less wobbly and is easier to control. For beginners it's actually better to learn it on a wet surface. When you make mistakes on a wet surface, the bike is more likely to slide from under you (lowside) and less likely to hook up the reartire and throw you over the bike (highside). It will also boost your confidence in riding on wet surfaces as you learn to feel the grip of the fronttire in those conditions.I know so many guys who are total bad-asses in the dry.Pulling wheelies, doing kneedowns,...but in the wet they barely dare to lean their bikes.
I love your explanations. Super well put together. Thanks!
Dudee finally thank u so much. I already shared this💪🔥💯
My mannnnnn YOU RULE
Brother I seriously was going to comment on your next video to kinda shoot some tips on this. Thanks fam!!
HAHHAHAHAH Well glad you are happy then man!! Please share
Epic lesson! Keep up the good work and cheers from Barcelona!
This made me sub. I love drifting. Ive been drifting cars since 2006. Dont know how to drift a motorcycle. Bought a motorcycle 4 years ago and have caught accidental drifts. Didnt go down but wanted to learn how to do it properly. But just like a car and trying to learn and understand the full limits of it. What it can do, as well as what I can make it do in order to become a better driver, I want to do the same on my bike. Because more times than not, drifting has saved my life multiple times to help me avoid danger or even possible dangers out on the roads believe it or not. I believe this it be an extremely valuable skill to have. Why not have it??? Especially on a bike. I feel that you dont truly know your vehicle/bike until you can drift it.
Great tutorial. Straight to the point and head cam to see what your hands are doing. I have to share this video.
Quite simply,99% of drifts happen on the left, cos the rear brake is on the right and you can get your left foot down for balance if needed. If its a right hand drift and it goes wrong and you lift your brake,to get support, balance etc, you have a good chance of a high side.Great informative vid!
That is very true man! Please subscribe and check out some more of my videos brother! Brian

Dude that was flipping sick!!
Thanks you did good job trying to explain and show what your doing with alot of good pointers.
i bet kinda getting into drifting a bike is gonna give you a lot of track usage too, when you're rolling it on coming of an apex and the rear starts going you can catch it and ride it out, kinda like the motogp guys do, making it seem as easy as a kneedown.
True that. A good stunt rider and good track rider both have good sense of bike control.
I do beleive what they call that is kid skidding when done on a track
It looks awesome when you do it, if I'm being honest my longest "drifts" have been accidental because of muddy parking lots. First year rider on a klr not sure it's quite built for tricks.
That is how it happens man

Awesome mannn....
Enjoyed the vid, thanks! I've never done this with my street bikes, but would do it all the time when I first started riding dirt bikes...some 4 decades ago!
High siding in the dirt is entirely different than on asphalt!! Yeah...I'm ancient.
Always been scared to do wheelies but this could be a compromise
8 years ago while coming home from an especially bad day at work.. I was blowing off steam by drifting corners on my VFR800. Heavy ass bike and I'd only been riding a couple years at that point.
It worked, and it was fun, but due to inexperience after 4 corners I then went too sideways and instinctively backed off the throttle. So, the wheel gripped, and the bike flipped sideways throwing me straight up.
Landed flat on my back from however high I went, mild concussion and whiplash that restricted movement of my neck for 13 months. I had gear on, and even rode the bike home afterward but still..
I'd love to learn proper stunting in future, but not without a caged bike and back/neck support.. because not knowing if my spine would ever recover following a year of pain before I'd even turned 21, was not fun.
Stay safe out there

Hey Brian, Thanks for the vid. Quick request. I ride supermoto with a big single and just love backing it into hairpins. But I don't use any rear brake at all, just compression brake. I'm curious to know if that would work with the 4cyl. Approach at speed, clutch in, kick it down 2 and drop clutch then feather for control. Just past apex, crack the throttle open and the front floats up as you drift the exit. I think it feels so deluxe because the wheel never completely stops turning, it's just turning at a different speed to the bike, too little, then a bit too much. It's the most fun thing I've ever done with pants on. Would love to see how the big stunt bike handles it and I'll bet it makes for a good video.
Most fun you can have with your pants on LOL Please subscribe and check out some more of my videos brother! Brian
