Assassin shouldn't be about getting more damage, it should be about getting money for kills, if you kill your target you get 3 credits and it switches to someone else, if you participate in killing someone else, recently damage them for instance, you lose credits/get a movement speed debuff
Either that or killing someone gives you stacking health or special rewards of somekind, but their initial shop is really small to make up for it.
something else i thought about was just letting a player/the group know who the target is, or make it only show up with a bodyguard-type role
Could also have a brown/pink role that could put "hits" on certain players, which would interact with the assassin.
ETA: I've been thinking way too much about this, so the way these "hits" could work is when one is placed, the players are faced with a few options: find the person who is placing the hits, find the assassin claiming the hits, or let the Detective take the credit for the hit. What I'm thinking is that a hit could give the player who claims it a credit or two, and an extra credit for the assassin. So there'd be some benefit to letting the Detective claim the credit from the kill, as they might be able to provide items for a Beggar, drop a Health Station, or arm themselves/other innocents further. Alternatively they could use the hit placed as a bait to lure out traitors/assassins.
Like I said, way too much thought. It's a mental pastime for me, coming up with new roles for this game.
Why not make it where it does double damage against detective roles only, with no credits? The issue isnt damage, the issue is damage to everyone. Would make body armor a valid item for detective roles to, prevent them from being one shot. Heck, you could make it a brown role, and win with him killing the det. Or, a randomat like get down mr pres, but only with one assassin.
@@KanadasKid the target thing would be nice except it'd be an easy clear if everyone can see who's being targeted, and an easy enough clear if only the target themselves can claim it.
That feels more like "Hitman" than "Assassin", really.
But, yeah, a "kills for cash" role could be good. Murder people to get credits for the shop.

Pink role idea: pickpocket. By standing near someone for some amount of time, their inventory swaps. No win condition, goal is just to cause inventory chaos

We’ve been playing it at home for a few years now, maybe it’s just our play style but it almost never works unfortunately.
The quiet "It's revenge time.." at 17:20 followed by the "AH he's shooting me" as if Lewis wouldn't just kill Ben again is fucking funny
Body snatcher is kind of a better beggar, since bodies are easier to come by than toys.
Not with that kind of attitude!
More importantly, the Bodysnatcher gets an entire role as opposed to just joining a team!

Rather than coming back as a train, if rythian dies to a prop he should come back as a chair and be forced to be chair.
Potential mechanic for the Admin Role: they have a buy menu with admin commands but each item costs a certain amount of health, which they can't regenerate for the rest of the round. E.g. teleport another player costs 5hp but /kill costs 50hp
I love Rythian hopping the fence to run away and seemingly escaping just to get shot in the back and instantly die

Yes my cat as toothpaste, he lost some teeth because *someone* decided to either not chew his food or just chew on one side of his mouth, meaning the teeth don't get cleaned. Always check your cats teeth, especially the ones at the back & make sure their food is big enough that they *have* to chew it.
Mine will still try to avoid chewing his food, until I say "I will take you back to the vet" he *immediately* starts chewing his food. Mofo knows.

The Assassin would be funnier and more confusing if they couldn't do any damage at all to anyone but their target, who they do a bit more damage to. The cool down between targets should also be quite long (at least 30 seconds). The Assassin should have to act like one, and it should be a given thay they die if they get caught out.
This would make it easy to confuse with a Jester, which would be funny and would give the jester more plays as well.
I feel like it'd be more fun for the round not to end if there's still an Unavenged Vindicator. But then again, that would just mean that the Traitors HAVE to kill them twice, so I suppose putting them on a "time limit" makes more sense from a fairness perspective.
Not to mention, trains are Really Useful(TM). Rythian out here wanting to live his best life as sentient machines like Thomas and Friends.
Just please not the All Engines Go version of Thomas...

Zylus got what was coming to him after killing Rythian in the last round. I know it's hard to keep track of all the information while playing, and maybe he missed something, but if had risked a second to figure out who Rythian had bodysnatched as he should have been able to.
Train role - can build up speed by moving in a straight line, and does ramming damage (more damage the faster they move). Can't use other weapons.

Hey guys had some thoughts on the Assassin just wanted to share, i suggest a 1.25%/1.5% damage buff against target only, gain the ability to see thier outline and make its starting target always the detective role. If they succeed they are granted 2/3 credits on kill and another target after a 1 min cooldown, this is the only way the Assaassin can gain credits. You could potentially make a reduced range assassin "style" shop, e.g Armour, prop disguiser, paper plane, packa punch, harpoon, fake med station, no scope rifle, sniper summoner etc?
Feel like this would lead to more inventive first assassin kills, less of a rampage from the players and more of that "Assassin" flavour/playstyle, im sure you have your own plans but wanted to help as its fun just needs some garage time as you said.

The spy would be sick if they got the knife from tf2, where you steal the new skin of the person you killed and their body disappears.
Like i think their store should either allow them to buy the flare gun, which could hide bodies if they want to play ranged or they should be able to buy the knife

If you say you're the paramedic, you get shot on sight.
If you don't say you're the paramedic, you become shoot on sight as soon as you attempt a rez.
Whoever you rez becomes shoot on sight regardless.
Maybe make it so if the paramedic does get a rez off, that persons role becomes visible to everyone.
That way it's still risky, but there's at least a different possible outcome then they get shot immediately every time.

One thing that could work for Admin, is messages like when someone uses the commands "Someone slapped X for Y damage", but after a couple uses(so that the role isn't useless) it gains a chance of saying who "someone" is.

Zylus killed the known vindicator but still retained his 100% detective win rate
for the swapping rounds, a star(*) after the yog's name getting added each time they swap would be good.
Assassin should do no extra damage or 15-20% extra but spawn with an infinite time prop disguiser, and gets an extra credit when he kills his target, does half damage against people who are not his target.
Imagine the master of stealth shenanigans that could happen with that!

You know what would be neat? Instead of dealing increased damage to their target, the assassin could have a cloaking ability that dissipates if they inflict more than 50 total damage to anyone other than their target.
I think the Assassin would be better as a brown role, and instead of getting bonus damage they have a target-tracking radar and get credits from the kills.

Idea. Could make the assassin a brown role that gets a random credit item of some variety that they have to kill their target with. If they kill 2-3 people successfully, they win.

Proposition for assassin:
1. At the start of the round, or, when you have kill your target, gain a new random target
2. If someone kills your target, they become the target, but you get a penalty to stats and items until you kill the bounty stealer, if someone kills that person you get penalized again, and so forth until you kill the target and reset it.
3. Against your target you do more (more damage for attacks, more dot for effects…)
4. If you are seen killing a target you get a wanted effect and everyone knows and can claim the bounty on you.
5. If you hurt anyone other than your target, you die instantly and your current target gets a buff based on being the target and each stack of bounty they carry, players other than your target have damage resistance against you
6. If anyone other than your target hits you they do bonus damage to you
7. For each assassination that you complete you get a “payday” which lets you purchase from a special assassin shop. These items are based on the assassin theme, things like camo, sneak attacks, long range accuracy, decoys, placeable cover, trackers, and similar things.

8. If you retire (win the round as last one standing), next round you gain two from: a pet dog, a soul bond, and a car. And your roll becomes “quiet life”
9. However, no starting weapons and cant pick them up.
10. but you do get all of the buffs you had against your target and from shop stuff.
11. Should Anyone damage your dog, soul mate, or your car you become “baba yaga” and the attacker becomes a target, you have all the bonuses of a maxed out assassin, but no penalties while hunting them.
12. When that switch happens you get a biolocked airdrop of packapunched assassin gear.
13. You win as long as another group wins (not counting you) and nobody that hurt your dog or car are left alive.
14. You are your own team type, you can give a beggar items to activate the Beggar King.

I think a way to maybe tweak and rework the assassin is to make it stealth based. They get a smaller multiplier but only when not in line of sight of other players, meaning you have to be sneaky and can't just run around with a double barrel for OHKO no problem.

You should add a Role that can rez, but whoever they rez has half health and gets their role randomized to any role, adds some random shenanigans and fun. call it a quack doctor or smthn.

Wins if their benefactor wins AND they kill their target.
At start of round a random role with credits will be given an extra buy option at the very top of their menu to “hire” and assassin. Maybe it used all their credits. The assassin will then be assigned a target based on the selected choice.
If no target is chosen by the selected benefactor. Then they win whenever any party wins. They get 1.5X damage against their target and .5 against everyone else.
This could introduce plays of saying “I was never given a target don’t shoot me” or even counter plays of “well shoot me and see if you do normal damage” and if they do less then a target was chosen.

I dont know if they have it but a decloak or way to remove the disguise for the Spy would make it feel way more playable so they arent locked into it?
The body snatcher should actually res the person they steal the role of, but the ressed player should now be the bodysnatcher (or a jester), to make it look like a normal res

Perhaps the assassin could take a page out of Agent 47's book, and become a "Hitman." They have their targets as usual, but instead of the damage increase, they have access to items and tools from the hitman series, such as garratt wire for strangling targets, a disguise kit, and perhaps a butterfly knife or silenced pistol. Additionally, there could also be a weapon from the Traitor or Detective buy menu hidden somewhere within the map for them to hide. They could also have the ability to knock out other players, whom can only be awoken by another player searching their body. The caveat of the Assassin? They need to eliminate their targets without being spotted, otherwise they'll become visible to everyone else on the map.
