I love the wildlife there. One of my favorite things to do is watch clouds. That region near Mt. Laguna gets some of the most magnificent, beautiful cumulonimbus clouds especially in July-September, when it is hot. The desert floor will get very hot during the day, trapping hot air underground - then as the sun gets low, mountains cast their shadow, cooling the desert floor very rapidly. Then suddenly, an enormous area of the desert floor lifts off all at once, the hot air rises until it cools down and condenses to create those beautiful thunderheads we often see out east.
Mt. Laguna is one of the best places to be if you want a good view, but many times those giants might be hovering right above you if you are at Mt. Laguna since that is usually where that violent atmospheric event goes down!

Yes I noticed that, as you go west from Mt Laguna there is an observatory and the wind speed is so high that it pushes you. I was wondering why it was always so windy but now I know the low pressure down below in Anzo Borrego forces high wends to head that way.

Thank you, and I didn't know that either, I thought they were surviving on little insects, pine nuts and other seeds, but they full blown carnivores.

Welcome to San Diego County, you made the right choice. So this is right next to the visitor center on Mt Laguna. Like 10min hike from the Visitor Center and the Convenient store. Here is the link goo.gl/maps/fWWKtzDYLQ45sLtb7
