- This town first popped up on our radar when the Smithsonian named it one of the top 15 small towns to visit in 2021. Then as we were preparing our trip for the Pacific Northwest Wallace AGAIN appeared as a go to location for Rails to Trails. OK we have to check this place out! We are not at all sorry that we did. There is so much history here and we enjoyed the tour from the Sierra Silver Mine. Keep in mind, we are only showing a brief section of the tour. You, yourself would want to experience the full tour. Where ever you go, there you are. Wallace, Idaho was not a disappointment.

How fun! Must have been a great place to live! We love that area.
I have never heard of Wallace. What a cute town. I love hearing its history. That is so cool that the highway goes over it.
YOU WOULD LOVE IT HERE. There is even a ghost town near by!
@@CaliforniaTravelVideos Which ghost town
@@ColoradoMartini it’s called Burke.
Wallace used to have the only stop light on Interstate 90 from Boston to Seattle before they rerouted the highway.
Nice video! Great quality footage, narration, and mine tour. Years ago, I hitchhiked from a national guard summer camp in Boise to the Craters of the Moon National Monument. Returned to Boise along the Snake River. Idaho is such a beautiful state! Thanks for the video!
What great times and great memories! Yes, Idaho is beautiful and we love exploring there. Thanks for watching! - g
lol Michael is having way too much fun in that space ship and great camera work. Very cool town. Thanks for taking us along.
You are always welcomed Mary!
Very cool footage on Wallace and things to do☺️
Thanks for watching! -g
Love the historic town. The mine tour was awesome. I love how he demonstrated all the equipment. Not the shiny stuff! 🤣 This was fun, thanks for sharing.
Yeah I got the feeling he still enjoyed playing with it too! 🤣 Maybe someday you and Jill can work camp there! We’d come and visit you too!
Thanks for the visit to Wallace, Idaho. Interesting place
Thanks for coming along Linda! :-) -g
Well, the locals were right! That tour was fascinating. Wow. Wallace to me, seems very reminiscent to Placerville with the freeway nearly going through town.
You are right as a lot of the mining towns share similar history. Ours here in Cali however is about 50 years before. When we went on the bike ride the Folsom all the blown up rock still there from the gold mining days blew my mind.
Wallace was the filming location for the 1997 disaster thriller Dante’s Peak, starring Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton.
Yes, we learned that on the Trolley Ride. He had lots of great tidbits. I'll have to check that movie out.
One of my favorite movies that was on TV a lot and I think I watched it everytime too! Love that town... but I was so happy to learn there wasn't really a volcano there! LOL!
You like old towns, check out a little town in Ohio, called Nelsonville, Ohio. A lot of original buildings of this town
Thanks for the tip! Hopefully get back that way sometime. 😉
Wow, what a great little town and mine tour. I will have to check it out 😃👍💙
I love finding random and serendipitous spots. It’s like Michael always says, “when opportunity meet preparation.” After it was named in the Smithsonian Magazines one of the top 15 small towns I put it on our bucket list. Then lo and behold Wallace came up again in my rails to trails FB group. It had bike trails and an RV park right next to it. That’s when I KNEW it was meant to be! All roads lead to where you are supposed to be.
@@CaliforniaTravelVideos So awesome truly!!!

thus why we added "and beyond" in the opening. lol thanks for watching.
