hey i have a 1621 dollar coin, i've seen that it goes for 15000 online but i dont know, how much do you think its work? im thinking of selling it
The commonwealth of Massachusetts one is very fitting for a fallout 4 player
The fact that they took the time to build a theme for the grab bag, give an excellent variety, and give you your moneys worth plus more is astounding! Props to this seller!
The Japanese Dutch banknote is for the Dutch colonies in the South Pacific and the one i English I would likely assume it’s for Hong Kong which was a British controlled colony at the time
Actually, the English one was for the British Colonies of Malaya and British Borneo.
yep.
Either there, Malaysia or Singapore.
I personally like RobFindsTreasure’s bag the best, he got a cool key, meteorite piece, emerald, gold plated gold dollar, and some other awesome stuff
Skaarf Vagly He had some nice pieces but I sure like the military themed ones with silver picker
Silver Seeker got a meteorite fragment as well, his and Rob's were of similar content.
12:53 it is an emu not an ostrich you get ostriches in africa
true 😀
It's a Kookaburra.
All I can say is WOW! for Picker's incredible WWII grab bag..... being that I am a history buff I am going to have to say that his won this battle. Thank you for sharing all these great finds!
#3:50 ALL MAIL(going out and/or in) was checked by sensors from either country. #4:56 "Philatelic Mail" FDC, not worth much. #5:55 Yes! "Shell Case Cents were "repurposed" shell casings (from both sides). #7:03 Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia after the war), #7:30 From Malaya and/or Malaysia Japanese-occupied during WW II. None ever appeared in the US until after the war (as souvenirs from returning GIs. #9:28 (Probably) "Cold War" material. The only A-bombs used were August, 1945 to end WW II in the Pacific. "Duck and cover!" #13:00 ALL COINS in the British Commonwealth/Colonies depicted the current British monarch ("Face") and a local "device" on the back of the coin Australian shilling featured a Ram. #16:02 Philippines "Guerrilla Money" (issued by the "PI Underground/Freedom Fighters. T.B. Willoughby he messed up the French coins at 14:00 too. They are not from occupied France, they are from free France, Vichy France.
@@matttormey6213 "Vichy France" is the name of the puppet state that was created after France was occupied by the Germans. The coin on the lower left is from this state.
The 2 and 5 franc coins on the right are from "free France".
Wow thank you so much, T.B.! Such detail! Much appreciated!
Matt, Alrik is correct. Vichy France IS occupied France
Love the detail in your post!
During WWII, the Japanese Emperor visited Germany. My grandfather was a baker and made bread for him on his visit.
Love the historical grab bag! Major kudos to Main Street Rare Coins for the awesome grab bags, as well as the time and thought put into them to personalize each bag to each one of you. Great challenge, lets see some more!
Their personal touches just shows how great they are. They really care about their customers and want them all to have an amazing experience with each grab bag
the Australian coat of arms with the kangaroo and emu so not an ostrich. the reason why we have both these animals on our coat of arms is because they can not walk backwards symbolising always moving forward as a nation.
USMC 4th Marines= red diamond patch. The ribbons in the set of two are a WW2 Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign With 4 campaign stars and a Army Good Conduct medal (three white stripes at either end). The ribbons in the set of 5 are a Meritorious Unit Commendation(looks like second award from the piece set in the middle But it is kinda blurry), Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, and a Navy E ribbon.
I always love seeing the grab bags on here, it’s exciting to see what you may get
All I can say is how cool is that ! I've got to get me one of those grab bags..
Learnt a lot of new things today. The history is amazing
Kangaroo & EMU are unique because neither animal walk backwards
I had to sub. I’m a SIlver Seeker member. He sent me your way. So enjoyed this challenge. Thx for the fun!
Hey Jag, welcome! Glad you enjoyed our competition! Hope you enjoy my channel :)
Ranking: 1) Rob, 2) Seeker, 3) Picker. I'm more into the coins though. I would be curious to see what an anonymous customer would get. Love the video.
Nooooo! lol, at least we were all happy with what we got 😁.
Well Mr SILVER PICKER, this is the second of 3 videos I’ve watched and between you and silver seeker you are definitely in the lead by sheer cool history factor. You definitely did not get a garbage pail kids sticker though 😂😆🤙 I’ll follow up after the last video. These are fun videos for sure
Lol thanks for watching, Joseph. I loved the historical aspect of my bag
In Australia all coin that are pre 1946 are sterling silver
Alot of cool history items. I love your Grab Bag.
Entirely too much random historical stuff in a "coin" grab bag. Bags seem catered to the individual and not a true grab bag. Of the three Rob's was best IMO. This was a good idea but it seems to me that the seller knew what they were filling the bags for. Better done completely anonymously to get a better showdown. Can't argue that the seller did great job in making the cost fair.
Hey Brad, I hear that. I have done a random bag from this seller before and it was excellent. They're really honest folks (that's why their eBay rating is 100% positive). Totally understand your thoughts though
New Sub! Can’t wait to watch and learn more from your channel. I watched all 3 grab bags. Cool that they had personal touches. You are all winners but RFT was my favorite because I loved the Emerald and lucky penny! Super fun watching all 3!!
Hey Jenny! Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the videos. We definitely were all winners (but I wish I got a meteorite too 😝)
I believe the USS Yorktown is located in Charleston in South Carolina, my homestate. I’ve been there several times with my scout troop to stay there. They have a great gift shop as well.
That's so cool!
Awesome video!! Love the coins and the historical items!
Usually when someone says to sub I ignore them automatically but you’re very enthusiastic and shouted out your friends before yourself which I like, so here’s a sub
Hey Matthew, thanks a lot! I really appreciate that. Welcome to my channel and hope you enjoy!
Tien Gulden - These were used for Indonesia as it was Dutch until 1945/49 Ten Dollars is the Malayan zones under British rule and Sarawak/Sabah which used this currency too.
Yay I am so happy, another vid
You get a few of those badges for each war they were in
I absolutely love your enthusiasm!
The letters from the yorktown were neat to see. My grandfather was on CV-10 USS Yorktown he was very proud of that. He had CV10 on his license plate for years.
Wow that's sounds really cool, Larry! What exactly is CV-10?
@@Silverpicker CV(aircraft carrier) 10 the number given to the yorktown or the 10th aircraft carrier
Thanks for posting an analysis of this interesting grab bag.
Glad you enjoyed Davy!
I love the "c'mon I don't get an x out on my channel" 🤣
😂
I found another grab bag seller that I bought a 500 bag from with 800+ worth of coins in 😍
You got the best deal out of all 3, Rob and Silver Seeker grab bags were similar in content.
Yours had more content than either of theirs.
Thanks Steve! A lot of people said they think Rob won. Oh well lol
Already friended to all 3 of you for a while now. Ive been wanting to try a $100 grad bag from that seller. Mabey here soon. Thanks for sharing.
I have to give the coin assortment victory to Rob as while all are interesting SLQ's will always get big points. With that said I have to give you the "King title" (even though you just made it up) because my family has fought in every war and conflict from WWI to the jungles of Vietnam so anything military gets bonus points. Great videos.
I'll take it lol! Glad you enjoyed :)
Ok, watched the others, your bag wins. BUT silver stacker was the only one of the three of you who got a coin I'd want -and he was utterly clueless about what it was! Justinian I is about the most important Byzantine ruler there was, and that one is nicer than my own example. Rob's ancient coin was worth less than he even though, maybe a dollar. It's fun watching these videos to learn about things I have not ever collected.
Hey Mark, thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the videos! You should definitely comment on Silver Seeker's video and let him know the good news!
The red ribbon with white stripes is the ribbon to a good conduct medal, it's still awarded today.
I enjoyed seeing this video. I have always wanted to get one of these bags.
I just didn't want to get burned. Thanks for an entertaining video. 😊😊
Hey Shirl! So glad you enjoyed! Good to see you back on my channel (hadn't seen you comment in a while) 😁
@@Silverpicker I never left. I just wasn't watching much of anything. I have
just recently started to watch again. Too much is going on in this crazy
world. Riots, Looting, Arson and lock downs here where I live.
I won't be a stranger anymore. Thanks for answering. Take care!! 🤗🤗
Coolness Factor - Picker, Rob, Seeker. Value Factor- Rob, Picker, Seeker ....
I'll take it lol!
Very great video. You have beaten silver seeker. I watch his video yesterday. I believe he got 97$.
From what I can find, most of the ribbons were introduced after 1961, although the Navy Unit Commendation was authorized in 1944 and the Army Good Conduct was prior to WWII. Biggest let down for me was why any dealer would include INB merchandise in their offerings.
Thanks for the info, Doug. I think they are including the INB stuff at valuations that are equivalent to the raw coin's value, not a graded coin's value. I see your point, though
Awesome video Silver Picker!, I love the historical pieces as well has the coins and bank notes. I myself really like collecting old boy scout memorabilia, in fact last month i got an old boy scout bag from the mid 50s in amazing condition, and it has a tag with the name, adress and troop number of the owner. That alone has a cool story behind it! Keep up the amazing videos!
Wow that is super cool! The history is what keeps me interested in the hobby
New sub. Love your enthusiasm and know how. Good stuff.
thanks so much sean!
I have to admit I liked the WW2 theme. I am a WW2 history nut. I thought the neatest thing happened to be the letters to the Yorktown. Overall, I have to admit I think each bag was of equal value. Nothing in them spoke WOAH so and so hands down won. I liked the individual touches each bag had. Silver seekers felt more like an actual grab bag to me with more random stuff, Robs seemed to have more coins, where as yours had that WW2 collection which I personally enjoyed watching you unbox.
Thanks Mark! I pretty much agree entirely with your assessment lol
Yup I like the historical stuff too
I love the history inwould love to see you do more stuff with historic items as well with coins
Thanks! Maybe I will do some bonus videos on the historic stuff I have
@@Silverpicker can I buy those 1993 letters. I was born 05/25/1993 and have been collecting 1993 coins of all denominations and Bills and would be great to have those to start a 1993 stamp collection
@@Silverpicker RFT got $126 in stuff, he beat you not by much though
Both my grandfather's fought in WWll so I'm big on to anything from that war
the japanese bills are money printed by the japanese government for areas that were occupied by the japanese during world war II. The dutch one is printed for dutch east india and the english one is for brunei.
In my opinion I think you got the best deal! The other CZcamsrs may have gotten more coin collecting related items, but you certainly got the most items of historical significance!
The best part is that we all were happy with what we got! But I did like my bag the best bc I'm such a history buff
As far as the uniform stuff goes:
The patch is from the 4th Marine Division.
The pin is for an Airman First Class (A1C) and it seems pretty modern.
As far as the two racks they are as follow:
The top one has from left to right an European-African-Middle Eastern campaign medal with four campaign stars, and an Army Good Conduct Medal. That means he fought in four different campaigns throughout the war.
The other rack, from left to right and top to bottom, has Navy Meritourious Unit Commendation Medal with 1 bronze star, meaning second awards, a Navy Unit Commendation Medal, a Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon, a Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, those were not issued until 1980 and retroactively up to 1974, and the last ribbon is a Navy Efficiency Ribbon, or E ribbon and it denotes service in a ship that won an efficiency competition, also began issue in 1974, so that rack is much more modern.
Wow that's so helpful Christopher! Thank you so much! Super interesting. So the stars on the ribbons signifies the number of times they were awarded that ribbon?
Silverpicker depends on the appurtenance, or bronze piece on ribbons like oak leaves, stars, numbers, etc., in the case of stars on campaign medals it’s is only awarded once and the stars just denote how many campaigns you participated in, those are mainly separated by geographical location and dates. Others like the Navy Unit Commendation, having one star means that your unit received two of the same medal. If you have any more questions about anything military related that you come across, especially Army, I’d be happy to help you identify it, I really enjoy your channel and have a bit of knowledge when it comes to military history and uniforms.
I want to say this thank you for everything you do
I’m a new collector. I would like those war nickels and wheat cents. Cuz I only got one wheat cent and not even one war nickel. My oldest coin is a 1941 nickel. That’s my oldest.
Hey! Keep up the collecting and you'll get way more in no time!
You guysl got good bags cause you know them, any regular person wouldnt get that but hey that's the way it goes...congrats on your bag!!!
Hi Robert, I totally hear your skepticism, but that's not really true about these folks. My first bag from them was amazing (before they knew me), and every single one of their eBay customers has given them rave reviews. Just look at their feedback and see!
8:25 The double ribbon bar The one on the left is a European theater The one on the right is a army good conduct metal
The Japanese government WW2 occupation currency has to letters on it. The first letter tells you which country or territory, and the second letter tells you which series or batch. Also those two banknotes with the Banana trees on them are called Banana money.
Thanks so much for the added detail!
I only have one wheat cent also, and I found mine in a roll of pennies I got for my birthday on May 22.
Nice find!!
I'm a professional philatelist so I will be evaluating your stamps and letters like I did for the other two guys. The censor mail is worth $1 each, the first day covers are worth $5 each. WOW the Japanese occupational money is definitely worth money if you have any Filipino occupational money the sky's the limit. I have seen some go as high as $100 each, all about connection. Your military ribbons are very collectible I believe you have a purple heart on the ribbon ban bottom right-hand corner with a bronze star on it. Historical data can be valuable. OMG The USS Yorktown CV-5 mail. Sunk at Midway, 3 miles down, not rediscovered until 1998.
I think you won this battle hands down.
Silver Picker #1 in History , #2 overall, RFT #2, However in coins #1, Silver Seeker #3
Sorry to say but ,I think Rob Finds Treasure won.Really enjoyed all three videos and the fact that it was a contest!!
Glad you enjoyed! I think it's a close one because we all got some really cool stuff
Here are the Ribbons at 8:20 as well as what the unit patch is from. Hope it help!
European-Afrikan-Middle Eastern Campaign - Good Conduct Medal (You show these upside down)
Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation - Navy Unit Commendation
Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon - Service Ribbon - Navy "E"
Patch - 4th Marine Divison
Thank you so much again! Do you know what the little star shaped metal emblems on the ribbons represent?
@@Silverpicker They represent the number of times it was awarded, if more than one was. So if there is no star, it was awarded once. If you find a V it is for Valor. Navy E? Don't know, I was Army.
I'm not a WWII buff but you did have some interesting finds! But in my opinion RFT came in first, you second and silver seeker third!
Thanks Ron! Glad you enjoyed. Seems a lot of people think Rob won. That's ok because we all got a good value
Yes, another grab bag vid :)
The coat of arms on that Australian coin has in fact a kangaroo and an emu, not ostrich, which are native to Africa
Thanks for sharing, you definitely got the better non numistic value for the battle, the military item will hold/grow in value!
Thanks! I'm happy with my lot 😁
Close call on value for all three of you. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks William! Glad you enjoyed!
Great video loved the world war2 collection grab bag
I believe the top middle ribbon was a good conduct ribbon
I think you undervalued a few things. Good luck finding a walking liberty for 7 bucks.
He prices things for about the value you'd get them at at a coin shop.
One of those Protection from the Atomic Bomb pamphlets is listed on EBay right now for $100. I know it probably won't sell for that, but still.
Whoa! That's awesome! It's a super cool piece of history
All 3 grab bags were excellent, each tailored to the individual receiving it. Kudos to the seller. As far as which bag I would have been most thrilled to receive (and they all would have been well received), my ranking is:
First place - RobFindsTreasure Second Place - Silver Seeker Third Place - SilverPicker
Glad you enjoyed, Chuck! Definitely was close, either way
the patch with the "4" on it was the fourth Marine Division. The red ribbon with the vertical white stripes is the Army Good Conduct Medal. I couldn't figure out the rest. They may be service specific such as USMC or USN. USS Yorktown was known as the "Fighting Lady" and was lost at Midway or the Coral Sea.
Thank you so much! Very helpful info!
1 Rob
2 Seeker
3 Picker All three were good
Nooo! My crown! 😝
I like the grab bag with the history related stuff!
Thanks Cooper, me too!
Not 100% sure, but I believe it's a Kiwi
The bird in the New Zealand sixpence is a huia bird (now extinct) and the Australian shilling has a ram not a buffalo. Also the Australian florin has an emu flanking the right.
IT'S AN AWESOME IDEA FOR YOU GUYS TO DO THIS AND YOU DEFINITELY GOT THE BEST BAG FOR SURE
Thanks! I think so too but most people are saying Rob won. So be it! We're all happy with what we got!
Some of the history stuff is cool but I’d still be a little mad receiving it for half the value, good luck selling some of them
I hear that, but I'm happy with it :)
Rob got a lot of value
Sometimes cool is better than value. If you’re happy with what you’ve got the seller did a good job. I’d rather be happy without full value than unhappy with full value
RFT fam in the building!! Good luck
Yes the history is awesome!
No, you were right to begin with, that's definitely an emu on the Australian coat of arms on the Florin obverse coz its an Australian native but ostriches aren't & its a Merino sheep (ram) on the shilling). The Aussie coins are actually sterling silver too, all pre-decimal Aussie coins are!
Thanks Matt!
The Dutch were heavily involved in Indonesia during the age of exploration and colonial times. They still speak the language there.
Super interesting. Thanks!
I like the historical stuff. It's very interesting.
Me too, adds some flavor. I just wish it was a tad bit less in this case
The Japanese Ten Gulders is probably for the occupation of Indonesia (the Dutch East Indes) and the Ten Dollars is either for Malaysia (British Malaya) or Hong Kong or Papua New Guinea.
Super interesting. Thanks!
Oh we have birds like that here in Vegas. They help control the un-indigenous scorpion population
That's pretty cool!
The bird on the New Zealand sixpence is a huia, an extinct species that was last sighted in 1907. I just found my invasion note (a Malayan ten dollar bill displayed at 7:30) which I’m very happy about! I’m a huge fan of the historic artefacts inside. Some of my relatives lived in fascist Italy, and the memorabilia I have from that time is very unusual and interesting.
Minor corrections:
in the UK, the three pence piece was referred to as a ‘thruppence’, not a ‘threppence’.
One of the French coins is Vichy, the other two are from the French Republic. Both of the French Republic coins were minted well into the 1950s as France’s economy was in ruins after the war.
Wow that's so interesting. Would love to hear more about your family's experience in Fascist Italy. Thanks for the correction on the UK pronunciation too! Regarding the Vichy and French Republic coins, when I filmed it, I thought I had eloquently explained that...clearly it came out kind of confused lol.
Good video 👍
The bird on NZ sixpence is an extinct bird called the Huia ( may spelt that wrong ) and watch out for the 1934 NZ sixpence as about 10000 were minted due to the English King giving up the Throne that year
I enjoy your enthusiasm
Thanks Dennis! :)
Awesome grab bag.Love all the WW2 items.
Thanks Kevin!
Not sure how people are saying you came third, this bag has definitely been my favorite!!
That's the beauty of the hobby, though. Everybody likes a different corner of Numismatics. I also liked my bag the best (though I did like some of the obsolete coinage the other two got)!
@@Silverpicker very true, I'm still new to the hobby but I find more I want to collect every day! (Especially when I watch your videos lol) thanks for making videos! They helped me get into coins. I want to get into paper currency as well, those Japanese occupancy notes are awesome!
great video slivepicker
Thanks a lot!
Totals:
SP: $123.75 RFT: $126 SS: $103.50
RFT wins!
The military pin is USAF rank insignia for an Airman First Class
Regarding the ribbons, the tow at the top left to right: European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with what appears to be four campaign stars, at right is the Army Good Conduct Medal. Below that, left to right is the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Navy Unit Commendation. On the bottom row, I can't make out the first one on the left. The next two ribbons are the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/star, denoting a second award. The last one is the Navy Battle "E" (efficiency) Ribbon. Hope this helps. The red patch is the 4th Marine Division patch.
That is super helpful, Bruce! Thank you so much!
@@Silverpicker My dad served in the 82nd Airborne (made two combat jumps. I'm a history buff and retired military. Feel free to reach out if you have questions on militaria. I don't know everything, but I'm pretty good at research.
I definitely think you won this, but I'm partial to historically significant pieces. I noticed the mail from the USS Yorktown was sent from Honolulu Dec 4 1940, probably from someone stationed at pearl harbor. we all know what went down a year and 3 days later!....cents made from 1943-46 were made from metal sourced mostly from recycled shell casings recovered from battlefields in Europe. Some are darker than others, and this is why. Also, rob and seeker got a skeleton key, which I noticed was absent in this video...Still a great box though!
I too liked my box the best, but that may have been by design since the folks at Main Street Rare Coins know that I'm a history buff. The skeleton keys were really cool, but for the same value I got that Atomic Bomb pamphlet which I absolutely love, so I'm happy :)
Gotta Love It!!
You said it!
Seen the other 2 now watching yours gl
Those Japanese bills are super pretty! I want! And yes to the Historical stuff
Liked this battle but Rob got coolest grab bag 😁
Seems to be the consensus lol. That's ok, we all got good stuff!
Cool grab bag. Do think I like RFT a little better. I just started collecting and the set with the nickels and pennies was really cool.
Thanks Scott! I think a lot of people agree with you lol
The occupation currency is really interesting and some of it looks very nice!
Glad you enjoyed! I knew you'd like this one!
