  • Chartham Hatch Level Crossing, Chartham, Kent on the Chatham Main Line (Dover Priory Branch).
    Location: Hatch Lane, Chartham
    Date Filmed: 13-06-2019
    -
    Nearest Station: Canterbury East
    -
    Trains:
B1 Steam Locomotive "Mayflower" (British Railways) + Class 47 (West Coast) [West Coast Railway Company Charter]
Half barrier level crossing up a long hill from Chartham on Hatch Lane, Chartham. This crossing is located between Canterbury East and Selling stations.
I caught two unexpected charter trains running from Canterbury East, in the space of just over 10 minutes, so I was very lucky in catching both of these trains passing the crossing.
This was the second charter I saw, with B1 "Mayflower" at the front and a Class 47 by West Coast on the rear.
The video was filmed on the Ultra-Wide Angle lens on my Samsung Galaxy S10 camera.
    Thanks For Watching!

I love the smell of a steam engine, takes me back to holidays as a boy, we would travel to mid Wales via London, happy days. 🚂😁

Old meets new against the backdrop of a beautiful day! What a terrific catch!
I do wish we had these scenes in my part of the US, but at least I can live vicariously through videos such as these. Hope your weekend is a great one!

Thanks very much! 😎 I was lucky catching this as I wasn't expecting anything as such to be running today.

Another Friday upload, another beautiful steam locomotive! Excellent catch! I do get quite envious of your S10's ultra-wide angle feature sometimes, as you can still catch the whole crossing without having to stand too far back or where there'd be obstructions, and it still looks really good! Fabulous video, UKLCC 👍😎

I bet the people in the car were pretty astonished.

I know it well as I lived in Canterbury. There is a pump crossing on the other side of the tracks nearby which may be worth a look. Great capture. Tripod?

Casey Jones you go through the west gate gardens from the west gate towers and as you stick to the road where the tracks run there is a pump crossing or there used to be one. There is also one close to the lakes run by Canterbury angling association if I remember rightly?

You're probably referring to the one on Whitehall Road. UKLCC has been there multiple times, and I've only been there once. It's reached via a turning off of St Dunstans Street near that LC, and this MWL pump barrier LC is quite a way up this narrow road.

UK Level Crossings & Trains Channel That’s the one! And there is another further up the A28 towards Ashford near chilham I think.

Thanks! 😎 Yes, the pump crossing is Whitehall Road, and I've been there numerous times with a few videos on my channel. I didn't use a tripod here, as I was standing on a small grass bank. My phone has got decent video stabilization.

The closest level crossing to me are, 53°23’14”N 2°36’32”W (warrington, next to the pink) -classic crossing - and 53°23’05”N 2°36’54”W
