- In this video we take a look at the liveliest part of Istanbul, Taksim and Beyoğlu. We visit some famous places and find out the history behind this very special district of Istanbul which was as famous as Trafalgar square in London over 100 years ago and why it still is today.

Thanks guys for another fabulous video of Istanbul- I have just returned to Australia after my 14 day tour of Turkiye- what an amazing country - we didn't spend as much time in Istanbul as I would have preferred but that leaves me more of this amazing vibrant city to explore for next time. Turkiye was a highlight of my travels around the world. ❤🫠🇦🇺🇹🇷

I visited there in February of this year for 19 days. The restaurants were quite pricey, but I discovered that just across the borough or on the Asian side of Istanbul, I found much more affordable and authentic cuisine.

From experience if you want to go to the top of Galata tower. Get there before 09:00 am any day of the year. If you arrive later than this. Come back the next day before 09:00 am. Otherwise you will be waiting all day.

Ottomaan Turkey was created in 1453 AD. Turkey celebbrated its 569th anniversary in May 2022. Istanbul was called Constantinople and was Capital of Byzantium. Western Turkey was Byzantium/Eastern Roman. Empire and Eastern Turkey Ar menian Highlands/Armenian Kingdom. About 3,800 historic sites are Armenian, 3,400 Greek, 600 Jewish and Assyrian, 700 Turkish. After celebrating its 569th Anniversary in May 2022 Turkey changed its name to Turkiye. Izmyr was called Smyrna , Agri Dag was Mount Ararat, Ankara Angora. The Cilician Armenian Kingdom ended in late 1375 AD and King Leo is buried in Paris. City of Ani, one of Armenia's old calitals in Eastern Turkey, was known as city of 1001 churches, more than a thousand years old and a marvel of architecture. Hagia Sophia, a Greek Orthodox church was converted to a mosque after creation of Turkey in 1453 AD. Mexicans do not deny Aztec and Mayan history. GB do not call remains of Old Roman wall Envlisg history. They say it is a Roman wall built by old Romans.

This is the most underrated youtube channel ever. You make great videos which are like Simon Reeve travel documentaries. I am surprised you dont get production contracts from the BBC
@@nuricomez I like Simon Reeves and I do try to produce a BBC style film I don’t know what I would do if someone offered me a production contract, I kinda like being in control of everything , that’s why I don’t do one every week like most CZcamsr, 🙈 thanks
