Just remember that this was sales. Not how good the games were. XV was over hyped and so a lot of ppl got it. Also it came out on playstation and xbox then pc later on. I mean not that it was a terrible game, but it couldve been better
@@snowkeu2327 it is still impressive. FF XV get review bombing a lot and considering in which development hell it was, it could be much worse. I kinda enjoyed it, but was dissapointed bcs if SE gave Tabata more time, it could have been masterpiece. Also with windows edition release game become kinda great FF game but everybody remember that lunch.

XV is on PS4, PS5, XONE, XBOX S/X, PC.
IX is on PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, PSP, VITA, SWITCH, XBOX S/X, PC, ANDROID, IOS.
And also, IX had a 16 years headstart than XV.
Also, IX has a coca cola advertisement.
btw SE spent a lot of money on 15 , it was being made for like 10 years ??? they could made 3 FF games with the time and money they spent on ff15
@@sinho113 FFXV was actually being made for 3 years. You are thinking of Versus XIII. Versus XIII is not XV. Also, Versus budget was non-existent, even though it was announced for 7 years before it got cancelled. They just did not work on it.
The money on XV spent were comparatively less than VII, VIII, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, VII REMAKE, and XVI.
XV is the most profitable FINAL FANTASY Instalment alongside VII after XIV and XI.

You know Square Enix, when it comes to FF VIII, they want to quickly turn around and run away. Even back when FF7, FF9, FF10 and FF12 came for the PS4, Square Enix didn't want to bring FF8, instead other developers brought the FF8 Remastered for Square Enix. Square Enix didn't do anything for the 25th anniversary of FF8, just an interview where they said they didn't want a remake of FF8, which to me sounds like the same excuse as to why they didn't want to bring FF8 to the PS4, supposedly the source code was lost or something. So we'll never get an FF8 remake, there are rumors about an FF9 remake, which is the same pattern as back then, FF8 is just skipped and ignored again.
@@prinzludwig8052 yeah, a few days ago, the director of ff vii rebirth said that they have no plans to do a remake of the VIII as will take too long... Thats why im asking out loud to god, the universe or whatever is up there as a remake of ff VIII following the steps from vii rebirth... A dream

But I really don't think FF8 was as bad as people make it out to be. Sure the game is unbalanced and busted and it too easy to limit spam and get OP stats right off the bat, but I still think it was fun and the characters and story was enjoyable.
Some of FF9 character designs seemed awful personally (Amarant, Stiener, Quina or a few to say the least). The combat was better balanced sure, but I think 9 had so many bad parts too.
Great to see that FF8 is in the top 4 best selling FF games. An underrated gem

The legacy of that game is its weird battle system, but there’s so much more to it that has fallen out of mind over the years.
8 is by far overrated the entire core magic system (which bled into pc customization, item generation, core minigame, and more) was just so convoluted and poorly designed.
I hope they do a remake.

The absolute juggernaut that FFXIV becomes after ARR. So good to see.
Just waiting to see a collab with 7 there eventually. (Though the Werlyt storyline with the WEAPONs probably counts there.)
The events in 1.0 also were inspired by 7, for whatever that’s worth these days 😂
Of course it became a juggernaut. They fixed a couple of issues and made people buy 14 again. Then if you played it for longer than a month period, you were basically paying full price for a console release 3 times a year despite being the same tired quality.

And 15 did not deserve to do as well as it did. Don’t get me wrong it’s better than a lot of games, but it’s not better than 6-10, 13, or 16 even.
Unfortunately a different time. And SNES games were, maybe, half the price of PS games at the time. So that’s a big contributing factor. Doesn’t take away that it’s a beast of a game.
As far as 15, people had been hyped for the game since it had been in production literally for 10 years. So when it came out, myself included, everyone was ready for that next mainline FF title. Personally, I think it was a mess at launch. Royal Edition fixed a good chunk of it, but overall a flawed game.
15 is waaaay better than 16. I say this and i didnt even like 15. They both feel half assed and sacrifice too much of the FF DNA. hell there are hardly any monster types in 16 at all. the only thing that makes it recognizable as FF is the Eikons. 15 at least had a ton of staple monsters and gameplay variety. it helped that the dungeons werent just empty hall ways too. gear loadouts actually did more than raise dps slightly too.

It doesn't include Remake. Hell, it doesn't even include all sales for OG VII since the game has sold over 14.4 million units (not its money made but number of individual copies sold). Even if it had only ever been at its current lowest price ($12 per copy), the original still would have pulled in over 172 million dollars.

Made up mostly. XIV's numbers start reversing and aren't even correct, and it's definitely not current players so it has to be copies sold. They definitely didn't lose 400k copies sold over 4 years so... Yeah likely faked

Remember guys that sales number is not everything, there is is also the price and economy and era, a recessionary decade would have lower sales than a booming decade.

Cloud blocks sephiroth as he drops down on aerith right? Time glitches and now aerith is on the floor with blood on her, more glitches, the blood disappear and she wakes then shes dead. Not sure what happened to aeriths white materia, idk why she needs to white materia from the 2nd time line. Im not sure how zack is able to just leave the fight against sephiroth and the grass field at the end the gang are in seems so strange.
Why does XIV begin decreasing towards the end? Is that one a measure of player count at a given time and not total sales? If so, that's not a very equivalent comparison to the other games.
I'm assuming that's the actually copies sold besides free trials. Yoshi-P just revealed that as of Endwalker, there are 30M registered accounts, which is more than the video, so I'm assuming it's paid copies.
Lol XV has NOT sold that much. They only announced like 2 years ago it has sold 10 mil. And 7 remake was announced to be at 7 just a few months ago 😊

Wow, I had no idea that FFVIII (kind of my first FF) had silently and slowly surpassed FFX in sales so many years after their release... weird, I wonder what pushed that to happen? Ha! Take that FFX! lol. VIII needs a remake even more than VII did, imo.
Anyways, it's amazing to see the power of Sony's marketing hype-machine at work for FFVII, making it the first FF and/or JRPG for millions outside of Japan. It's too bad pre-VII FFs (on NES and SNES) couldn't see the same level of worldwide success, but that was when they believed that JRPGs wouldn't sell in the west before they even seriously tried (partly why a game like FF Mystic Quest got made... which I see is is left off of this list, lol... would probably be dead last anyways I'm sure).

Damn XVI really didn't do well, the story music and characters were good though. Glad to see my fav (VIII) being high on the list. VIII deserves so much more praise, not only it had the best intro but it was such a game ahead of its time. IX also deserves higher sales, it was a gem.
None of this data makes sense. How was 15 more popular than 10? Makes zero sense. Do DLC’s count as a unit sold now or something? Also 3 must have been super popular in Japan to have sold more than 4 and 6? Also confusing
It's a newer game from a storied franchise, so of course it sold well, especially after the new FF players that 14 has brought.
I just looked up the sales data and it’s only based on ps2 sales I think. There’s a ton more on the HD remake and Downloads on newer consoles

FF 16 is a good game thought it would had better numbers.
FFX has sold 15 million copies FYI ( the remaster sold 5 million copies and everyone bought it for ffx so every remaster sale counts as an ffx sale). (So ffx sold 10 originally + 5M remasters.)
u increased the sales of ff8 until 2022 from 8M to 11M so u also have to increase ffx to 15 xd

XIV has 25 Million paid Sales. Meaning 25 Million people bought the Starter or Complete Edition.
It is the EXACT same as ALL other Installments' Sales.

They took too much from FF15 AND dropped all of the great PRG stuff that made me love FF11 (I have played through that one at least 3 times now).

ff7 remake and rebrith have almost zero replayability no stat building only 1 of some materia useless accesiories and u can equip only 1! and so much more failure towards battle balance
these guys have severely cripled the fun this game can give u by limiting all the things i mentioned
im sure if the game had a second accesiory slot and more ways to get the magic materia and strenght materia ect this game would be a blast

No it isn't. The numbers may be a little off, but the POSITION of each is accurate. The only exception may be X, which should be 1 or 2 spots higher, as well as X-2 that it should also be 1 spot higher.
