If we can follow the example set by these Top 10 Eco-Friendly Cities of the world, we’ll be well on our way to sustaining Earth for many more generations to come.

10. Oslo, Norway
Eco-efficiency is important in this city, and it begins with grass-roots involvement. Oslo residents are encouraged to clean up, go green, and create a climate that features better air quality, eco-efficiency, biodiversity, and an abundance of clean, natural resources. The streets of Oslo look fantastic, due to local contributions being made to keep the area sustainable and highly-functioning for all of its residents.
9. Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm is among the cleanest cities in the world. It was the first city to win the European Green Capital Award, and it has a noble long-term plan to be fossil fuel free by 2050. The riverside city is stunning and features lots of natural landscape, such as beautiful trees navigated by cycling paths. Environmental policies are prioritised in Stockholm, and as such, the streets are clean and the urban city has a country-like feel to it, despite having tall buildings and a large number of residences.
8. Columbia, Missouri, United States
Investing the time to become an eco-friendly city certainly has its benefits, such as energy reduction which in turn lowers costs and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. In Columbia, Missouri, businesses are incentivised to improve their energy efficiency though a city-wide grant system. Columbia’s City Green program determines how much energy a particular business uses, and then offers to pay for half the cost of an energy audit. Once the audit is completed, the city will pay for repairs up to $12,500. To keep the city looking great, Columbia has a number of green groups, which are coalitions of like-minded people who collaborate to achieve common environmental goals. These groups clean rivers, restore animal habitats, and promote beautification, restoration, and citywide recycling.
7. Vancouver, Canada
Vancouver’s most notable performance is in the area of CO2 emissions. In The Green City Index, Vancouver boasts the lowest greenhouse gas emissions per capita of any city. Additionally, the city’s ecological goals include reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent and planting 150,000 new trees by 2020, making it one of the greenest cities on the map both literally and figuratively speaking.
6. Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban, South Africa
These three towns in Africa all share a spot on the greenest cities list. It is very hard to pick just one city since all these three are very strong in different categories. For example, Cape Town and Johannesburg is said to have most green spaces in the whole continent. While Durban managed to take a lead because of its target to become a zero-waste city within 20 years and carbon neutral by 2050.
5. San Francisco, United States
San Francisco used to be a capital city of the Hippy movement, but it would be wrong to say that this is the only reason this city is one of the greenest around the globe and the most ecological in North America. This city was the first in the United States to introduce the coloured bins recycling system to homes and workplaces, making recycling easy and accessible, and more importantly - legally obligatory. The fantastic public transport system and government’s encouragement for people to use more electric cars also helped San Francisco to be one of the eco-friendliest cities in the world.

10 and 9 (Oslo and Stockholm) are two of the most environmentally friendly cities on the earth. They should certainly be ranked among the top five.
An oil spill happened in Vancouver once, our people started cleaning it up the next day. Nuff said.
Good video and good job.
Very HAPPY to see this video !!! We all should pledge to make our Mother Earth greener and sustainable!!!
I'm from Johannesburg South Africa and was horrified to see us on the list... Yes, we are one of the biggest "man-made forests in the world" but it's really just large, alien trees lining the streets of our upper-class suburbs. As for Cape Town, they are pumping megatons of human poopoo into the ocean. Laughable
Go have a look at Durban on New Years Day!
thank you for sharing this video!
Thanks for your information.
The South African ones, are quite green but not eco friendly
Good video !
This was 5 years ago but I’ll write it down anyway. As a Swede, and an environment enthusiast. Im so proud
Huh, I didn’t think my city Vancouver would make it on a list ... only because I heard so many other European cities were greener. Also I’m curious about South Africa because I’ve heard there’s quite a lot of problems
now if this could be updated information or is it just a promotional information
I’m not really sure where you’re getting your facts from
so I’m just curious if anyone from your channel could answer. thank you 🙏
I used to live in Vancouver but my family moved to Bakersfield, California because of my dad’s job. And Bakersfield is EXTREMELY POLLUTED, it’s one of the most polluted city’s in the world. Sigh, I miss Vancouver.😕😞
I wanna ask permission that i'll use this video for my assignment. Thank you!!
Did you get that permission, yet?
Cool so clean!

In the future our diet will be change to as will because our lifestyle could in fact effect environment so it means we have to give up on animal products and no more loop holes this for good of our future generation and vegan is the future diet of this world

The most eco friendly cities in the world are a collection of igloos in the arctic circle, and a group of grass huts somewhere in the middle of the Amazon jungle, where the inhabitants eat one another.

Canada and USA should be disqualified, since they are both in top 10 CO₂ emitters both per capita and overall. No 1st-world country outside Europe is even remotely green. Australia: 18.6 t*CO₂/person; US: 16.1; South Korea 12.3; Japan 9.9. While EU has a mean of 6.6 t*CO₂/person.
Were is Masdar city?
Exactly.
it's a neighborhood not really a city, anyway this video is BS
Masfar city have not fully completed yet.
The climate plans on either side of the 2020 US election are pretty nonexistent depending on how serious you take the environment and the next 50 + years
I find it so ridiculous that other places in the world can get their hits together in some regard and push new measures that make protection against the Earth's climate crisis a requirement. It's not a question. It's not a debate. It's not about personal feelings. People are either too selfish, too uneducated, or too unrealistic. For a country (the US specifically) that can't meet in the middle about simple topics like masks, with our system, I don't see us making the environment a priority in schools on tv ads, in conversation in regulations. It won't be through the masses; it just won't. America is all over the place about climate. How tragic is it? Sad enough that you laugh through the pain and frustration and try not to take it seriously 💔
loko ke te lo estoy diciendo me se cursan los cavles I no kontrolo manito ke me a tokao un emikitarian loko 45.000 monedas

Lol as a Durbanite the way he said Durban made me cringe 😂
I doubt though why its on this list.I think south African cities do well in terms of sustainability compared to other African nations, but not really as good as more developed cities elsewhere that could probably make this list.

Wow look like human do kinda care about the enivornment and future our diet be different it is completely plant base
only in ohio
hai no , im from Johannesburg and hai my township is super super greenless and dry. we live in abjuct poverty and squalors. The only green is for white people and suburbs, the rest of us no green to see.
Vancouver has twice the CO2 footprint per capita than Oslo (about 5 to about 2.2 tonnes) ... and it is just "any MAJOR city in NORTH AMERICA" not "any city" ...
And this is exactly why this video is full of bullshit.
They apparently only care about how much trees there are in a city but not about pollution at all...
I strongly suggest that you visit South Africa first before you comment on its eco-friendlliness. You have no clue on how dirty it is, Streets and beaches are full of broken bottles, plastic and trash everywhere. Everything that should be green are taken over by squatters and ruined.
India should learn something
i’m really forced to watch thos
Plz
