Ok, because you specifically asked about it, here's the breakdown on the Percy Jackson (and friends) series. Before I get started I will say that this franchise is very popular and there are A LOT of connected books in this world. Don't feel you need to read all of them if you aren't into them.
First, you have the original five (and a half) books referred to as the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series
    1. The Lightning Thief
    2. The Sea of Monsters
    3. The Titan’s Curse
    4. The Battle of the Labyrinth
    5. The Last Olympian
There's also an optional companion book called "The Demigod Files" filled with short stories set between books 4 & 5. While this book is fun and gives you extra context for the world and insight on characters, you don't have to read it in order to understand The Last Olympian. However there is one character introduced in one of these stories that becomes much more important in the next series however, so if you definitely want to keep going after The Last Olympian I highly recommend it.
    ---
Then you have "The Heroes of Olympus" series which follows the characters from the first series as well as a bunch of brand new ones as we explore the Roman sides of this world.
    1. The Lost Hero
    2. The Son of Neptune
    3. The Mark of Athena
    4. The House of Hades
    5. The Blood of Olympus
Once again, you get an optional supplementary book, this time called "The Demigod Diaries" filled with short stories. These stories are a bit more spread out on the timeline, but the earliest you can read it without spoiling anything is after "The Lost Hero".
    ---
Then you have a brand new book that just came out last year called:
"The Chalice of the Gods". That book has a sequel coming out THIS YEAR called "Wrath of the Triple Goddess".
    ---
After that you have "The Trials of Apollo" series that focus on Apollo.
    1. The Hidden Oracle
    2. The Dark Prophecy
    3. The Burning Maze
    4. The Tyrant's Tomb
    5. The Tower Of Nero
    ---
And finally we have a standalone book called "The Sun and the Star" that serves as a spin-off of two of the characters we met earlier in the franchise.
    ---
Now, while that's plenty of Greek/Roman mythology to enjoy, if you still want more I have good new for you: Rick Riordan also make two tie-in series set in the same universe about Egyptian and Norse Mythology.
The Egyptian Mythology series is called "The Kane Chronicles". They follow a totally new set of characters and (with one notable exception) don't feature any Percy Jackson characters.
    1. The Red Pyramid
    2. The Throne of Fire
    3. The Serpent's Shadow
That one exception is a book called "Demigods & Magicians" which serves as the crossover book between The Percy Jackson characters and The Kane Chronicles characters. It consists of three stories and is set after both the main Kane Chronicles series and the Heroes of Olympus series.
    ---
The Norse Mythology series is called the "Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard" series. Like the Kane Chronicles it's also a trilogy and is set during the events of the Trial of Apollo series. This series does feature more crossover with the main Percy Jackson franchise than the majority of the Kane Chronicles, albeit not in abundance.
    1. The Sword of Summer
    2. The Hammer of Thor
    3. The Ship of the Dead
I'll be honest, there's so many books in this universe I haven't had a chance to finish this series yet, but I believe this series also has a supplementary book of short stories called "9 From the Nine Worlds"
    ---
And that's should be it. As previously mentioned, there are still books coming out so this list will be outdated within the near-ish future, but I think this serves as a pretty comprehensive list of the books in the franchise without spoiling too much.

This book series literally raised me and its so nostalgic watching the series because now I'm the ones whos watching the others grow up and I cry every new episode, Rick's writing really got me into reading and my love for fantasy and greek mythology. I really do feel like these books actually saved me in a way and I just love seeing new people get into them and into the world of Percy Jackson. Definitely read the rest of the series and the next series ( Heroes of Olympus ) after it for its roman mythology yet also interlinked with the Percy Jackson Universe!!!
p.s I love reading vlogs and seeing peoples reactions as they read! it's so fun knowing whats gonna happen and see if they react the way you'd expect them too LMAO.

I mean talking about "true stories" of mythology is a flawed idea. The oldest Medusa story we have is that she was born a monster (hence why she also has two sisters who are also gorgons). Then that evolved to her offending Athena in a variety of ways, one of which was consensually sleeping with Poseidon in Athena's temple, and then the Roman version, which is the Poseidon SA version - in this version, Athena's curse is still a punishment. The idea that Athena was doing Medusa a kindness by cursing her is very very modern. Like, was probably invented on tumblr modern, presumably inspired by feminists of the late 20th century appropriating her as a symbol of female rage and power.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with people choosing which versions of myths they like - Rick Riordan himself didn't go with the earliest version - but saying that it's the "true version" is just not correct.

The Riordan verse is sooo extensive but all the books are sooo good too. It's definitely worth reading the whole series. After the main Percy Jackson series you have heros of Olympus (5 books), trials of Apollo (5 books), and also the new ones Rick is releasing.
Also if you like Norse mythology you should read the magnus chase trilogy and if you like Egyptian mythology you can read the cane chronicles.

Worth noting that like many myths, the details vary; the one where Medusa was a victim of Poseidon and Athena’s feuding is pretty much in vogue these days.
