- Top 7 Toughest Watches For The End Of The World Or Zombie Apocalypse - The Best Options $50 To $10K
In today's video I round up the 7 toughest watches that would serve you best in an end-of-civilisation scenario. No matter the budget or end of days event (alien invasion, rampaging Godzilla, giant asteroid, nuclear war, or zombie apocalypse), these choices will have the Gentry keeping time in any situation!
We start with a look at my favourite mil-spec watch, the TSAR & GSAR from the legendary Canadian brand Marathon. Next I discuss the useful practicality of the Casio Protrek PRW-3000 series that could save your life. I then share my personal choice, none other than the trusty ceramic Submariner by Rolex. I follow up with the Sinn UX, perhaps one of the toughest watches ever made and the pinnacle of German ingenuity.
The German theme continues with the sun powered Nomos Sonnenuhr, followed by the ever relied upon and Japanese invented G-shock. Tough as nails as these timepieces all are, there can only be one winner and that title goes to the Swiss with the Victorinox INOX, the only watch in the world that can survive being run over by a 64 ton tank and much, much more!
What would your end of the world horological choice be? Share your selection with your fellow doomsday preppers in the comments below!

Just got home from my 3 week adventure in Australia. Didn't take off my Sinn 104 once. I wore it while skydiving, scuba diving, surfing, hiking and exploring the rainforest. It's a bit scratched up now but boy does it have character!
I love that, best comment so far!
Thank you so much for sharing that.
Gotta love the 104, may you keep enjoying it and keep adding to that character!
Best regards,
TGV
It's such a versatile watch.. If I wear it on my bracelet (Super Engineer 2 with an adjustable ratchet clasp) it wears like a diver, if I wear it on the Sinn leather strap it looks very elegant yet sporty. On a Bond nato it just looks badass! I love love love the 104! It made me become a one-watch-person.
But at the end of the world, what do you do when your quartz runs out of battery? The only ones that makes sense are automatics and solar powered.
The Patient Collector I’m in Florida right now, I just purchased a freestyle ballistic dive watch with 200 meter waterproof dive depth. I wore it today in the ocean swimming and it got completely submerged and covered in sand but after washing it off for 10 seconds in fresh water it’s completely fine! I love having a watch that is so durable. My father also has a Timex Expedition watch that he’s has for years. It’s completely water proof and everything with a nylon band.

My Mickey Mouse watch, to help lighten the mood of the world falling apart around you.
Where did you buy it?
I have a dora the explorer. Wanna trade.
I had one back in the late 70's.
Be easy to spot T in the apocalypse, the only man wearing a rolex over his rad suit.
Came here to see what watches will survive the coronavirus
@Why Justin 😢😭😭
We all did 🤣🤣🤣
The silicone strap of my Casio Protrek fell victim to the constant sanitizing gel application :(
Doubt many of them could survive a hear of absolute boredom
Ha ha ha
We all know that G-Shocks will outlive us all
So true!!!!
Thank you Owen,
Best regards,
TGV
I pulled out my Solar Gshock the other day (that I got for Christmas when I was 12) it was covered in dust, hasn't been touched in years and has been heavily abused, I took it up to my window and held it in the sun for about 10 seconds and now its working fine. They are indestructible.
I put my gshock in the freezer for a day, then submerged in the bucket of water for 2 days. It still works until now.
We all know tristano made this video just to explain to the Mrs why he purchased a Hazmat suit 😂😂
LOL, I bought her one too if that make it any better ;-)
Thank you Reiner, great comment,
Best regards,
TGV
Came in in the biohazard suit ..
.. I died 😂
Enclusion Don't kink shame him.
Still amazed at Casio for making so many watches that are incredibly tough for such low prices. The Gshocks value just deserves respect and all the praise it gets. I definitely appreciate it every day by thinking: "I spent a hundred on this and if I jump from a mountain, I would die horribly, but this little thing would tick on happily"
Try the MRW-200H. At 20 bucks you could gouge a zombie’s eye out
My Casio F91W survived the washing machine.
I shall remain calm, keep drinking tea and wear my Datejust with pride. When the apocalypse arrives I will remember the words of Captain Edward J Smith of the Titanic, when he realised that all was lost, he stated “Be British”.
Thanks for putting us on the End-of-the-world-list:-)
Can I have a watch

Awesome video! One important point though, nuke blasts = EMP = dead quartz watches. Mech all the way...or sundial...haha!
Thank you Neil! Duly noted.
Best regards,
TGV
Tbf, a strong enough emp will cause damage to mechanical watches as well unless it has a faraday cage built into the case. Maybe won't destroy it but will definitely affect it's ability to keep time
Myth. EMP won't destroy batteries.
Joshua Hamilton Milgauss or Railmaster it is.
Outstanding video TGV. I shall remain calm and have a latte during the apocalypse whilst wearing my beloved Casio G7900A. I've had it so long I can operate this watch in the dark.
I have the GW7900B1. Great watch, I even love the moon phase complication. The best is the turning on of the the night light with a turn of the wrist. Great in a movie theater.
ive only started watching these watch videos today, ive always admired them but had no idea there was this whole world behind watch collecting, you can really see the passion and how happy you are when you talk about them, and that makes me even more interested in this world, subscribed instantly xD looking foward to seeing and learning a lot more, keep up the good work
That intro made me spat out my coffee! Hahaha epic stuff man!
I don't think I've ever been this excited to see a youtube notification on my phone.
The intro and ending of this video are hilarious 😂😂😂 and yes solar g shock tough to beat.
keep calm and keep on WATCHing, hilarious intro, spilled my coffee
Brilliant vid TGV , loved the start of the intro, classic
Epic sound effects. Very good list, well done tristano.
Like the program, good review, only one I’d sub out out is the victorinox for the citizen promaster tough with the eco drive, 80% battery life after 20 years, 6 months on the power reserve and monocoque case with front load and sapphire. 200m water resistant, simple, plain and reliable. Perfect watch for the end of the world.
Another great Vid Tristano! Awesome watches and a great topic to discuss! Hilarious though 👍🏻! Can’t wait for your next Vid!
Brilliant cold open, followed by an entertaining summary of strengths that your list of tools exhibit!! Thank you for reminding us to be prepared for when 'it's all over except for the screaming'
Hilarious intro. I would take my Casio Rangeman, 5610, my no date Sub, and Sinn104. Brilliant video.

TGV another amazing video. This was great fun to watch. I was howling over the “knuckle duster” and “gangster” comment. Keep up the good work. Your enthusiasm for all kinds of watches is infectious.
Good fun video offering and some awesome choices TGV. I’d have to go with my Rangeman. One of the most practical features it has is that it’s light/solar powered. Wouldn’t need to worry about the battery running out. However, if i knew i wasn’t going to make out out alive, or that zombies upon me and going to rip me apart and eat me as an horderve (nice zombie feasting clip btw), I’d want a watch like James Bond had in Spectre...to use on myself💥😁
Digging the special effects in the beginning . Always good stuff on your channel
Thank you Richard :D
Best regards,
TGV
Was not expecting the hazmat suit LOL! Great work T!
Best,
Matt H.
Spectacular intro! Also a perfect line up of watches for the upcoming apocalypse!
You are on a roll, TGV! I think this video outdoes all the rest of your work; my belly aches after watching this. Cheers to the Apocalypse!!
loving the whole feel of this vid! hilarious stuff, TGV! keep it up
Instant👍 ...you have a creative mind and I like what you do...that Submariner looks cool on the safety suite too!
Another fun and creative video! Keep it up👍
Made me laugh TGV, reminds me of my bio suit in my equipment. I love the calaboration and effects integrated into the video, especially the audio background. Thinking outside the box Sir. Great choices of watches as well. The Marathon stood out along with the Zinn. Love my G-Shocks though . Another job well done. Priceless.
Too right, I love my SINN UXS. Great video episode again. I am a big fan.
😂😂 Cracking Start!! I'd probably wear a Dress Watch & go out in style like the Gentleman on the Titanic!! Brilliant Stuff TGV!! BMJ ENGLAND
BMJ ENGLAND a reverso- so you could turn it over and protect the crystal... 😁
At the end of the world wearing a Gold Rolex is a definite crosshair on your head 😂
Fantastic!!! Very creative! Loved it!! Cheers!
Great video. So thoughtful of you, that you included the Nomos.:)
I love your videos! This was one of my favorites. I saw your review for the Hamilton Khaki King and I am now considering buying one for myself. Good luck in the apocalypse. Spend your gold submariner wisely!
You come up with some unique intros some of the best I've seen.
You make great videos mate, thanks a lot gov’nor!
Another fun and informative video, thank you!
Great video as always ! I enjoyed very much , this show should be on TV !
Thank you Alex, very kind of you so say, I am flattered.
Best regards,
TGV
Really liked this video- not too serious like some others as of late. Had started to lose me there in all the fuss about the trinity for a second but good to see you’re back!
Brilliant like always TGV never disappoints keep it up
Wicked vid, awesome selection of watches man I love it. It's heartwarming 2 see a man that smiles & chuckles so much because he's truly continually besotted with the affliction that is horology.
I was waiting for this video all my life!
Not only was this a very informative video, it was hilarious! Thanks for the entertainment, TGV.
Really love your videos. This one was particularly entertaining yet informative.
Uploaded on my birthday, what a pleasant happenstance! Great video as always TGV, real top notch content. Keep it up and we'll get to that 500K.
Happy birthday my friend. so glad to see you again. I hope you had a great day.

Great vid TGV! So entertaining, AND practical..:) Love the Sinn and the Victorinox! May need to get one in the near future.....for enjoyment purposes (not apocalypse..lol)!
Very fun list! Enjoyed.
Nice video! Just suscribed a few days ago and been watching as soon as I have some time.
I was expecting you to add a Seiko SKX to the list.
What about the Tissot T-Touch Solar Expert?
Congratulations. Keep up the good work!
Loving the change and evolution of your content TGV. Keep up the amazing work!!
Thank you Sheldon :D
Best regards,
TGV
TGV, what a comedy classic opener, that leads us into yet another cracking review of some of the world's most equipped battle ready watches. Fantastic from start to end.
TVG. Can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I have to say you have reeled me in to horology. Just starting a collection and soaking up as much knowledge as I can. This evening I am even pulling a Schwarzkopf.
Love the vid TGV!! This kind of fun stuff will keep you at the top! Cheers brotha ... ps. thumbnail is cool but almost did not click on it cause it looked like some other wacky channel
LOL I am glad you did in that case!
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
What an unexpected topic to cover for a video, great work!
Amazing video! Now I want those watches.
Well done on the video. Great to see my G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400-1 made it onto your list. I love this watch, my best one.
That Sinn looks amazing, that would be a grail watch for me. The Victorinox INOX pro-diver also would be very nice to have.
Loved the intro. Great choices too!
Thank you so much :D
Best regards,
TGV
Another great video mate
My god , that was a funny and and v good intro ! Then again , i do enjoy all you're vids !
Great content. Agree with you on the Victorinox INOX. So much so that I have three of them. The 45mm INOX Diver with steel bracelet, the 43mm INOX steel case gray dial with the brown heat resistant fireman boot leather strap and the INOX Titanium case 43mm which is flieger inspired with the brown heat resistant fireman boot leather strap.
Hey Tristano, I loved the dressing up! I think you should do it more often. Dressing up with military attire when the theme is military watches or like James Bond for 007 themed watches would only make your videos even better! Keep it up, my friend!
Love this video! Keep it up!
Love your channel man
Amazing video! 👍
Well, just another great video! Thank you, TGV! The "stone era" Nomos rules!
Thank you Valery!
Best regards,
TGV
Interesting vid tgv, looking forward to more content !
That ending killed me 😂😂😂 Just hilariously good. Nice video! I would also wear my Rolex Submariner Date, for the multiple reasons you mentioned in the video. But I also love the Sinn UX and I‘m definitely considering to buy that Victorinox for THAT price! 😳😍
So awesome you added the INOX at number 1! I hope they make an automatic one eventually! Victorinox doesn't get the recognition they deserve!
OMG, an auto version!!! YESSSSSS. I would buy it instantly.
Great idea.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
levon siekertzian , indeed that would be awesome.
OMG thank you there been Gentry I remember that I recommended this video and you said you would add it to your list to do and you actually did best regards to you and viewers of this channel
Sorry it took so long, but I always get there in the end ;-)
Thank you my friend for the idea.
Best regards,
TGV
You have made my day 😄😄😄😄
Ordering take out at the end was hilarious. Great job.
Really cool approach to a video! Well done; keep up the good work!
Thank you :D
Best regards,
TGV
Nice one. loved the victorinox especially in red. Thx for the video.
Fantastic intro, well done !! :D
Yet another great video TGV. I like your modest approach, you clearly know a lot but don’t proclaim to know everything. How long before you get offered a TV deal if you haven’t already?! Keep up the good work!
Awesome video TGV, I'd have to say for an apocalypse the Rolex sub or the Marathon. 👍
Great video you were having way too much fun with it LOL. My watch would be a Sinn U1..... but I like the call with the Sinn UX .... love the hydro bounce with the seconds hand very cool.
Didn't expect the ending :D I would definitely wear the G-Shock due to it's combination of functionality and toughness. Great video
Lovely video!
Seriously awesome!
Hey TGV another great vid keep up the grind! Love Your Videos
Sincerely,
Matt
Thank you Matt :D
Best regards,
TGV
Congrats! nice video
I love your intros anyway, and when you sat down in this, how do you call it, "hazmat suit" I believe - HILARIOUS! I had such a hard time to stop laughing. You certainly made my day =D
My favorite topic, I love watches and anything that can last while taking a beating.
Great video mate👍👍👍
Good information.. love your videos from Malaysia ❤
the parts in the "hazmat" suit are hilarious :D interesting list! love the inclusion of the nomos solar ring!
Buenisima la Intro, you are great !!!
urban gentry 2.0 is fire!! much love for u work
Haha, love the intro. And the background noise. :)
Rocking the hazmat suit!! 😂😂😂 Love it!!
Fun video TGV! I would include a Seiko Solar watch, very accurate and will run for a long time.
OMG!!!! YES TGV, IVE WANTED THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG. I WISH THERE IS AN SKX BEFORE I WATCH THIS!!
Hello from Chile. It was nice to see a photo of the Torres del Paine mountains behind the Casio Pro Trek. That would be a great place to be when doomsday comes, down at the bottom of Patagonia, and far from Manhattan, where it seems (by the movies at least) to always be the epicenter of Armageddon. LOL. Great intro. Keep up the great work. I am a huge fan.
