Skoda 100 is one of the most legendary cars from Czechoslovakia, my grandpa used to own one as well in this exact same color, good to see one in such a great condition even in Britain :) greetings from Czech republic
My Granddad had a 1974 one of these in lime green. During a spell in hospital I got to drive it about for 3 months. I grew to love it and it taught me a lot about proper driving. It's all about momentum with these things. Master that and they will go remarkably quickly, providing there are no corners.
My grandfather had one yellow 😊 Thank You and greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
I owned a white 100L (1972 'K' reg) which I bought from my Dad in 1977. Wish I still owned it. The extras on these things were great, despite all the jokes about them. They had multi-speed wipers when Ford offered only a cloth to wipe the windscreen when it rained lol. My best mate bought it from me and liked it so much he bought another one in 'Sahara Sand' colour. Fantastic cars, thank you for uploading this fully 7 years ago tomorrow (2nd June 2019) Happy anniversary ;-)
My neighbour had one many years ago and let me drive it. The thing that sticks in my mind was how silky smooth the gear change was. I’d love one now asa second car.
I had a late model low mileage one in 1983 to 1985. It gave me and my family a headaches from fumes after a long trip. It also wouldn’t start in cold weather. Was kinda fun to drive though.
Get it restored! These cars are great!
looks great,i have skoda 100l from 1973 but must fix engine,i love to drive that car.
The ultimate Hipster mobile !
Simple, reliable, robust and cheap car for the masses.
What about those who are criticizing the car? The car does look cute though.
Made in Czechoslovakia
Many folk consider Skoda worthy of a chuckle, and little else. The fact is that Skoda are actually one of the oldest car makers around, producing their first car in 1895....... And of course today's Skoda's are as good as any other cars at the price (and better than some)
Sorry, but I really like this car.
As I remember it, the Delux meant you got carpets instead of rubber mats that were glued directly onto the floor pan. Pure luxury.
Sadly too many of these went to the scrappy and for the wrong reasons.
They went to the scrappy because they rusted like mad, had poor build quality and were uneconomic to repair.
My mum had one back in the early '80s [ RDO 796N ]. It was as rotten as a pear.
@@Lionfish5656 Back in those days, all Cars rusted pretty damned fast. Personally I think that these Czech made cars were ill prepared for our winter roads. We have a tendency to throw salt on our roads like there is no tomorrow. Whereas in in Czechoslovakia cars must my law change over to "Winter Tyres" some kind of spiked tyres I presume, at the start of the winter months and no such widespread dump'age of salt takes place. Also worth remembering that these cars arrived here via ship. All of that salty sea air has little respect for poorly protected metal.
danm, 20 years of trying to find the time to restore mine, and its the same colour, intreasting to know how much it sold for, worth at least 5k to an S_type enthusiast such as myself
Please, show us the engine!
When you compare them to the 1200cc VW Beetle or the Renault 8 they are not bad little cars at all. Like all cars of that era they had no rustproofing, but the engineering is perfectly sound and they were certainly fit for purpose and not bad to drive at reasonable speeds. I love the 100 MPH Speedometer. You might get 70 on the flat or 80 downhill.
I like that car too. Perhaps it is due to fact that the car was built in a communist country that puts people over the edge.
the history file doesn't mention what year the car is.
I've had two of these, slow but kinda querky
This car saves a city from a monster
Lovely car. Preferred these to the Estelle that followed it. Slow but tough and so much character. They were about £1,000 new in the late 70s.
made in Czechoslovakia
The seats (garden chairs) was the weakest part of the skoda. I like the sound the engine makes and the solid feel when i open and close the doors. The instrumentation must be copied from a french design, but it had good precise dials. I was about to buy one as my first car, but the handling in a rough storm on the test drive scared the crap out of me. Straight from a modern Japanese driving school car and into a skoda was a bit of a shock for me. I would wish i had one now, the skoda invites to playful handling like a porsche. Well a very slow porsche i'll have to say.
Thats interesting, because. Not original steering. Maeby prototype for last set from model 120L or similar have 110R. Not right rubber on the center pillar. Looks good but i think this was be a good repair model.
it looks like a ZAZ or whatumightcallit
Now these were a nice car, much better than the later Estelles. Out of interest what would you be selling similar to this for at present?
You know nothing about Skoda. The best Skoda car was 130 RS (little Porsche, drived by Haugland). No problem to go 200 km/h.
@@ctihodnymuz72 It is a very childish statement that the higher the top speed, the better a car. So you value women the same way? The bigger the breast, the better? Do you have to know how to cook at all?
Neco nechápu. V odkaze mi písali, že mi odpovedala Martina Seifertova, a tady vidno Ctihodnymuz. Teda si žena, nebo muž?
Skutečně nádherná ŠKODA 100 L a já ji za její krásu dávám palec nahoru.
The long drive

Time Capsule
And it has only 16000 mils Verified and authenticated
My Dad, who always bought British cars, bought one of these in 73, it was the biggest piece of shit ever, always breaking down ,he kept it for about 8 months before conning a dealer into part exchanging it for another british car.
I bought a 110r (the coupe version of this) at a time when I desperately needed a reliable car, it was a terrible thing. I kept mine for about 12 months before managing to swap it for an old Austin Mini, I kept that for nearly 4 years and it never let me down once.
I should report this video for containing pornographic content. Think of the children!
FWD IS THE BEST I think that was his way of saying the car is so beautiful it is sexy.
Komu se to nelíbí tak sou hloupí😑😑😑😑😘
Tisícovka byla ještě auto, která mohla konkurovat a navíc krásná, stovka byla už jen bída.
I know the expression ‘horses for courses’ but I can’t for the life of me understand why anybody would want that?
Looks like USSR made a ''nice'' copy of this one....
vzdetese nic se vam nestane ss
These 100L/110 were actually better than the road testers said they were. I remember these Skoda's well, they offered excellent value, roomy four seat family comfort in a simple reliable package. For anyone not interested in badge snobbery, these cars did the job of getting you from A to B without pretensions and it's great to see such a well presented survivor. Surprising Skoda.
