And under normal circumstances films with Johnny may get a minute or 2 standing ovations but this cast and their movie got a 7 minute standing ovation at their premier for one reason and one reason only bc MFing JOHNNY DEPP IS BACK and fought thru hell to be back here and he earned and deserves every second of them 7 minutes plus some!!!
After about 3 minutes, I started to realise how strange clapping actually is. An upright ape slapping two of its extremities together to signal liking something. Some of those claps were very finger heavy.

I love the bit (at about 3:45) where JD seems to get tired of clapping and starts playing patty-cake instead. But is it just me, or does the camera person linger way too long on each person’s face? They all look so intensely uncomfortable after having the camera up their nose for more than a couple of seconds. More panning motions, I think.

It's not "clingy", it's making a very specific point of including him in everything, reaffirming for the public that she stands by both him and her choice to cast him. A fact many have commented gratefully about, and that he undoubtedly appreciates.
But, on the flip side, for all that I support JD, I kinda cringed at how many times he hugged her, which actually did seem clingy - though under the circumstances, a very understandable instinct.
Also with regard to the "tension", she herself called out the media for making a mountain out of a molehill. They had *a* little creative tiff one day, largely due to a misunderstanding. They resolved it quickly and life moved on.
That's how grown ups (as classified by maturity not age) work. You can have a disagreement with your friend, all the while (before, during and after) still being friends. Good Lord, if we ditched everyone any time we had a disagreement, it wouldn't take long to run out of people to befriend o.O
Anyway, they're neither clingy nor tense (not for the reasons you suggest anyway - though pretty sure the event itself is pretty stressful).
They're two friends, who are also professional colleagues, supporting each other through what is, albeit for somewhat different reasons, a momentous and potentially pivotal moment for them both.
Maybe she's just overly affectionate bc she's nervous excited and just emotional about everything
