    ....Mr Vizutti does NOT have a thin sound like some critics over the years have claimed. He has a compact/focused and precise sound NOT thin or shrill or even small. I heard him play at Bradley University Jazz Fest in Feb. 2011 in a small carpeted room. His sound was unbelievably precise and had a perfect zip and sizzle but also warmth when he wanted that. Complete control this man has! Very nice and warm man too!

      JohnnyGutierrezTrumpeti agree... thin, i wouldnt say "thin". not the right word. his sound is smaller, and on the brighter side though.

    Vizzutti has always been my all time favorite trumpet player. I was searching youtube yesterday looking for a recording of this song to inspire me to continue perusing this piece as an audition piece and....wow. I have fallen in love with this piece once again and I can't wait to really dig into it once more!!

    Vizzutti has not always been a my favorite of trumpet players. Now, start to be. In this presentation, he is perhaps the best ever interpretation of the Fantasie brilliant. Including the Wynton Marsalis recording. Herbert Clarke was able to turn over in his grave. Triple-tongue is really beautiful.

    Just love the way you can follow every note straight out of the Arban unlike Wynton M's version - which is "Brilliante" by the way! This version I have learnt so much from, for my own development. Thanks Allen!

    I feel so proud that I can at least play the introduction from my Arban's book, and hope that maybe someday I can play as cleanly and smoothly as him.

  • @buckyjames1898
    @buckyjames1898 Před 8 lety +26

    Not a fan of his interpretation of the intro and theme (just too slow for my tastes) but his interpretations of all the variations are wonderful in my opinion, there's so much clarity with it

    • @eniotnayssaneb3442
      @eniotnayssaneb3442 Před 7 lety +2

      don't understand why he doesn't make any contrast in the intro, where a big crescendo is in the piece. And then we see clearly a "come back" with a lot of melancholy

    I personally asked Mr. Vizzuti in 2011 what mouthpiece he plays on, and it is a Yamaha custom made for him (I wrote down the size but lost it). He said there really is no Bach equivalent but the closest Bach would be a 3E. He also said the cup on his Yamaha mpc is a little shallow and that most all players, especially students play on too big equipment. Which makes most trumpeters work too hard for an all around good range. He does use this one mouthpiece for all of his solo AND lead playing. H

      Well if disliking this version is a matter of taste, then perhaps you'd like to enlighten us as to the versions we should be listening to, so that we may improve our musical taste to your own obviously high level.

      +Geoff Valenti well that s precisely the answer i would have expected from a person who doesn t know that taste is a free and personal concept, wich brings us to the reason why you published your first comment, sadly i say ,again.

    @Joebone18974 -that's just b/c it's kind of darkened out. In this pic it's the Marcinkiewicz copy of his custom Schilke. The Schilke had a rim a little smaller than the 14A4 but with a bowl shaped cup and a #28 throat, the backbore was a standard "c" I think.

    @kevinmorgan2100 Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I wouldn't describe his tone as "thin" I would feel better saying that it's more "compact" sounding because it's still a pretty full sound, but its more focused.

    Hi, I want to buy this arrangement for a trumpet student of mine. Does anyone know where I can buy it? Most places I find have a simplified piano part, and they are missing the melodic accompaniement of the piano...

      You might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere, but that's the book the piano accompaniment is in (all arranged by Andrew Watkin).
