    I had some come up around my scarlet runners last summer. I thought it actually looked really whimsical and pretty, so against everyone’s advice I left it. I had the LARGEST harvest of scarlet runners EVER. Trust nature, she knows what’s up.
    I didn’t know you could eat it or use it to make a salve?! How can anybody starve, nature provides so much food for us if you’re wise enough to know it.

    I had someone tell me years ago.. whatever medicinal plants aka "weeds" you have abundance of in your yard... The Good Lord provided them specifically for your personalized health care. ❤

      "They" call them weeds bc BigFarma can't profit. So they tell people to use chems to rid weeds and profit meds.

      Shellbelis..Yes I believe that. I'm glad someone else sees that too. Mullein grew a few years ago in an area I don't notice very often . I didn't realize it was medicine only thought of it as a beautiful weed. A year later I developed asthma and wanted to treat naturally found out about mullein and said God you tried to tell me about that before I even knew I was going to need it. It's definitely been a blessing to me and I've learned so much about herbs and wild edibles and so excited to keep learning and consuming these wonderful gifts from God . Keep listening and learning😊❤

    I’ve eaten chickweed in a salad, I live in England. It’s a common ‘weed’ here. Lots of people don’t know that it’s edible and as good for you as any other salad herb. Also poultry love it!

    We have lots of chickweed. All of our animals love it, I've made a pesto with it and cook with it too. I'll have to try it as a tea.

    I have yet to find chickweed, and have come across two plants that others have called chickweed. Thank you for clearing confusion and sharing knowledge about this plant.

    This is a cool weather or cold weather weed. Come summer hot time. It dies out or becomes dormant. The seeds it leaves is amazingly a lot. Good for live stock. I give it to my Chickens and Guineas. Eating it? Well perhaps.

      I have that same plant everywhere here. I have a ton of strange weeds and don`t know what they are. I`ve been trying to learn. Pill bugs devour a lot of things I attempt to get started wild.

      Can't remember the name, but it grew under the huge trees in my last backyard. My arborist told me it was a native, and wouldn't harm anything. Maybe send a photo to one of the plant identifying sites to get the name. I was glad to hear it is a good plant that belonged where it was. Also thought it was pretty!

    do you know how to save the seed from chickweed?

    • @everwilder7140
      @everwilder7140  Před 5 měsíci +2

      My shoes are good at this if you walk through a chickweed patch after flowering, they are brown seeds. They can be collected and stored like most seeds.

    • @Maybehomebody
      @Maybehomebody Před 5 měsíci +2

      I believe you can wash the chickweed in a bowl and save the seeds on the bottom of the bowl.

    I love it for chicken feed in the late winter to late spring.
    The chickens turn it into soil for the next year's crop of "weeds" & veg. 😎
