The Fanatec Podium Button Module Rally is the latest real world crossover wheel from the Bavarian sim manufacturer. It is essentially the real wheel from the Ford Puma Rally 1, with the Podum Hub attached to the back. Fanatec were kind enough to lend me a pre-production prototype of the button module and wheel for my recent project with Team Fordzilla, reporting from the WRC.

This button box seems absolutely sublime for TCR racing.
I'm especially excited for the buttons. It looks like they use the same hardware as my M4 GT3 wheel, and those switches are absolutely incredible.
what is taking fanatec so long with - well any of their new products? the QR2 has just had total radio silence for months now, is it dead? what about the bentley rim? same scenario, podium pedals? they confirmed they were in development when they released the DD1 years ago, not a peep since.
They’re too busy promoting the brand at real races to bother with providing customers the best sim racing experience with new products.

I don't even own a Fanatec wheel, but I can tell you how excited when I saw the fanatec logo in car when they were testing the car before Monte Carlo. A super overlooked detail but I thought to myself "oh shit they did a rally rim"
Was looking at the new WRC game and saw the wheel on one of the custom cars and knew i wanted it

Yeah, that's a good point actually. It's a shame there's not a quicker way to add and remove paddle shifters, because a mid sized round rim with a decent button-box would cover pretty much most eventualities.
i went for the porsche podium rim. i love it but i wish i had a round one . ill 100% be getting this

Thought this was an announcement it was going to be for sale since the announcement it existed was back in January, 2022. Instead it’s just a “hey look, I got to play with a prototype.”
I guess we can expect this to go on sale in 2025 or 2030.

Fanatec seems to be good about announcing and making unique wheels. They just seem to have a hard time getting them into production. How many wheels have the announced now and still no release date? They will lose market share at this rate.
Wonder if this would work on a moza wheel base with the right QR applied?!

Would it fit a deep dish wheel?. butons in the unsiversal hub as way back that it cant not be triggered with the hand on the wheel. Also what wheel dimensions will it feel confortable? 300/330/350 mm? flat/deepdish?

I think i heard you say it was a Replica? if so yeah it's nice. I like that the buttons light up. Going in the Moza direction there, I guess Simagic too. Fanatec are certainly taking their sweet time with the QR2.

I’d love to throw this on a real wheel with my simucube for rally. But we know thats not possible because fanatec won’t put bluetooth on it.

It's a Button Box like the Button Module Endurance. Xbox compatibility comes through the wheel or Hub so yes, when connected to a Universal Hub v2 for Xbox the buttons should work. Display and LEDs however are a different Story.
@@momorious That's the downside with Fanatec, you only get basic functionality on Xbox, so no fancy button/LED action for me 😥
I know fanatic calls it a D-pad it isn't as it's not flat like look up why the D-pad was invented by Nintendo... It's ether a Hat a short digital Joy stick found on Flight sim hardware. Or an control Stick a short digital analog joystick. Great reporting by the way an really good choice(If they continue with it) if you wanted a round wheel with integrated buttons... As for me I'll follow it and get it if it's say sub $400 with the podium quick release... Which I was already looking at the Nascar wheel but have not got it because I'm don't need it right now and I'm not sure how to get it with minimal buttons like in the real stock cars.

I own that exact Sparco wheel, so I'm looking forward to turning up at a track day with it mounted on to the wheel and confusing everyone.
But Fanatec are being very slow with all their development at the moment, no QR2 information 2 years after it was first teased, even though we already know it's going to be a Krontec style mount, the Bentley wheel has been about a year now, with no hint at price or release date, the Rally module has been around 9 months, and again still no indication or release date or price, while the Rally module does look great and I probably will buy one, Fanatec perhiperals just seem to be going a bit stale and now feel dated with the likes of the Moza FSR Formula wheel coming out, by the time Fanatec announce a new Formula wheel it'll already be outdated by the competition.
I hope it wouldn't be ridiculously expensive like the BMW Wheel

It’s ridiculous that this is not ready yet, along with the BMW GT3 rim. Sorry but non excusable considering what the competition has released in the meantime
The BMW M4 GT3 wheel was shipped half a year ago to first customers so it's totally ready.
I like it, it's nice. Feels like it's a rebranded button box. If I'm honest, fanatec have kind of lost me as a customer. I just feel like they're the new intel. It's not wise to put your eggs in one eco system. Over the years I've been moving away, fanatec haven't shown me I made the wrong move. I'll say this. If you're on pc and you're using fanatec. Stop doing so and move over. I still love fanatec, they're just not it anymore for me. I'd rather spend a little bit more and get a better product. Sprint pedals are £240 more and they are so worth it. Simucube too. Monza are good, that fsr at £575 is top quality. This is where fanatec used to be. Creative. They've slipped into intel mode. A victim of its own success. Saying that the box does look really F nice lol. I still own fanatec. Elite DD so I can use my CS rims and button boxes.
The problem with Fanatec is that they're taking too long to produce the goods. Their eco system may still be the best but it won't be for long.

I've owned Fanatec since the original Clubsport pedals. There is too much competition now days. I like mh DD2, but I'm tired of the Universally Hubs breaking regularly and cannot wait to leave the Fanatec ecosytem. They simply don't care abour their Podium customers.
