A little tip for binders, get the closest color to your skin tone so you can wear clothes that are more seethrough like white tshirts.

but also, if you tend to wear a lot of black clothes, get a black one. the necklines of shirts is often larger than the binder's, and you can sometimes see the binder's neckline, and it's usually less visible if it's the same color as your shirt. idk if im clear lol but if it's black, it's more likely to pass as your shirt or just as a tank top you'd be wearing underneath, but a skin-colored is more likely to get people wondering "wtf are you wearing under that?"

A friend of mine started using transtape. He loves it for around the house, and it makes showering so much easier. He still wears at least a sports bra in public, but without the tape the bra isn't enough. He said the combo of the tape and the binder (from forthem, he loves it) is the most gender euphoria he's ever felt. I'll have to ask him about the adhesive on the tape. He has skin issues, so I guess it isn't that bad if he wears it a week at a time. He does take breaks though
Update: he said his skin irritation is minimal as long as he uses oil to remove it. He also has been letting his skin rest a few days before putting new tape. He isn’t sure how much of a difference that makes since he’s only been using it for about a month

A really useful thing for me (Trans boy, very much a minor, no T, no op, no binder, all improvised) Is wearing a tank top underneath you shirt and tucking it TIGHT into your waistline, if you get it to lay right it can pull taut and not only hide a lot of the shape of the pointy mfing honkers but also kinda flatten them out if they aren’t already compressed. And for those wondering about heat, it is noticeably hotter and more humid but so long as you aren’t running a marathon in full sun you should be fine, note that I am from a southern state in America, so other countries may have hotter summers or weaker people idk

This also really helps me for when i need chest binder breaks and i still wanna hide my chest. I cant be openly trans where i live because its a transphobic community. just an important note: non-binary doesn't mean just having no gender. it's an umbrella term for anyone who isn't 100% male and only male 100% of the time, or 100% female and only female 100% of the time.
having no gender, being male but only sometimes, being male AND female, your gender changing, and anything else are ALL non-binary identities!

I'm a 40D, and i'm not exactly a thin person (i'm overweight), so it's very difficult for me to hide my chest most of the time! I tried two different binders, but it's nearly impossible for me to pull them over my head and chest! I struggle with them, even though one has a zipper in the front, and it's very uncomfortable for me to wear them for more than like 20 minutes and actually make me feel like i'm short of breath. Mainly due to my voice which already makes me self conscious, because I feel like people can automatically tell that I'm not a bio male. Word of advice guys, don't worry about how your voice sounds! Especially if you're still under 18, it's hard to ignore/deal with, Ik. But it'll be okay, promise, just try to distract yourself or do something that you like. I can't use binders and never really liked any bras, even if they're very loose, because it makes me feel like I can't breathe. But I tried tape now (I can't buy proper trans tape here, so it's just normal sports tape, but many people use it for that too) and it's really good?
I was worried for sensory issues too, but I feel it much less than bras or anything. It can be a bit itchy because of the glue, but maybe proper trans tape would be different.
I don't thnk there's any dangers or health risks, as long as you take it off with oil or cream. After wearing it some time it also goes off easier. For me it's fine as long as I don't wear it longer than like 8-9 days.
My skin gets a bit irritated by taking it off but that's gone after a bit. It also helps to put cream on before putting the tape on...just not everywhere bc then the tape doesn't stick.

I struggle with major size difference in my chest, in that if I don't consistently wear my prosthetic breast it could mess my spine up (in the past I used to literally start walking the direction the heavier one leaned lol) it also sucks that i'm quite large-chested too, I yearn for the flat chest. But then again, we seek what we don't have, is the common truth.

Thank you for the tips! I like my chest to look flat but I tend to get uncomfortable with any compression on my chest, even regular bras feel too constricting. What helps me the most is layers, which is tricky in summer. I like to wear lightweight button up shirts over tank tops or bralettes. They are nice to wear in the summer as long as they are breathable fabric and they also are good to keep the sun off your skin. I also got some overall shorts recently and I love to wear them in summer because it adds an extra layer to cover my chest without being too hot. When I do wear a binder I wear my old one that's kind of stretched out so it's more comfortable.

As someone who wears trans tape a lot (usually to exercise + move) and has a lot of sensory issues I would definitely recommend, just make sure you buy baby oil and read the instructions thoroughly many many times - also cover the sensitive areas of your chest because the tape can damage them if not properly covered

Another good binder option is Tomscout, it’s made in my country which is known for being pretty hot and humid (30 Celsius average temp) so it’s good for summer weather. I was kind of disappointed because I thought my chest would be completely flat as a board, but ig with my size that’s just not realistic. It’s a pretty comfy binder and the fabric is nice and breathable

I have to mention that binding tape also exists and can be used, even for bigger chests. It's less restrictive/hot than a binder and easier to hide under clothes. It's not as flat as a binder but leaves your chest looking much more like pecs. Your mileage may vary, of course. I find it makes wearing tank/muscle tops so much easier for me because the feeling of bras and binders drew my attention to my chest way too much.

I’ve been avoiding wearing a binder or any kind of bra at all like this! (Tho I’m more on the smaller side thankfully, otherwise I would probably not be able to pull it off). It feels so much less dysphoric. I get sensory issues from binders so I kind of have no choice. I second all of this advice about shirt choices and stuff (tho I haven’t tried the cutting up shirts thing). I love your accessories btw, especially that choker with the spikes, it looks really cool!!
(Also I tend to call them “chest things”, calling them anything like “boobs” would feel way too dysphoric. Another one I’ve seen that I find really funny is “chesticles” XD)
Edit: I almost forgot to say this but another piece of advice about shirt choices is avoiding very regular, geometric patterns, especially ones with straight lines like checkered patterns! Though it’s sometimes worth it to try something on regardless to see if it really has that effect. Patterns like that emphasize curves. Actually, playing with more messy patterns can sometimes help if you like patterns. I personally like camo, it really hides shapes like that which makes sense since it was designed to hide shapes and make people blend into the background in forests and stuff. But plain black or otherwise dark fabric is also ofc a safe option.

  • @pericatt
    @pericatt Před 17 dny

This is incredibly helpful! I can't safely wear a binder (connective tissue disorder makes my ribs dislocate too easily, even some sports bras do the same thing so I have to be very careful)
and binding with tape, while more comfortable, is expensive and I get friction blisters so easily even if I do everything right.
So seeing different ideas for disguising my chest is very helpful!

I need to get this out somewhere bc it's going to kill me lol
Recently I've reconnected with a trans friend and he's kinda helped me realize that people really don't give a shit about me here (which is good actually). And ever since I was young I wanted desperately to get rid of my chest, I hate it how I look so feminine when I feel less than connected to being a girl than a guy. Like, I don't mind saying I'm a girl, but I wish I were a dude sometimes, and most of the time neither fit me. When I ask to buy a binder just to feel a bit more "me" I'm told I've been hanging out with the friend too much and "you're too feminine looking to be trans" which I never mentioned, so just trying to be gender ambiguous isn't exactly easy. I don't understand myself and if it is just a phase or whatever but like.. I've been so vocal about not wanting to look like a girl since I was around ten. Isn't that a sign??
Anyways, rant aside, I'll be trying these tips, so thank you for showing up on my feed. Cheers :3

Idk if this is just me but transtape hurts my skin really bad, so, if you are trying it for the first time, test it on your arm or smt with a small piece to make sure it won’t irritate your skin (It hurt for weeks after bcuz it messed up my skin so bad i couldn’t wear a binder for a while lmao)

  • @AirGoddess1087

I don't think binders are an option for me. I already bought two different pairs, and they were nearly impossible to pull over my huge chest! I can't wear one for more than 20 minutes, or i start to get a tightness in my chest like it's hard to breathe! I even went with an XL, which is the size i usually get for shirts but i guess that doesn't work with binders too. So i don't think i'll be buying another one. I think maybe i'll give a bralette a try and just stick to sports bras with no padding and big t shirts 😅

Currently i just have a few sports bras that are super comfy and somewhat reducing. But they're old and i can't even read the brand name so soon I have to do some shopping. Have you ever tried binding tape? Bras and binders were too much for me but binding tape feels much better when I apply it correctly.
Also, for the pants: you can't minimise hips so instead try to create a straight line from hip to ankle (or hip to knee for shorts). Think wide, straight-cut pants. Your curves will be swallowed up.

im a huge fan of transtape/kinesiology tape! i use it mostly full time personally! (i take breaks and use a binder here and there!) though there Are a lot of downsides with the kind of freedom you get with it
    1. removing it is a Pain. its a long ass oil soak then a 20 minute shower once a week to get it off without removing your skin with it (which if youre impatient you WILL. its not fun). some brands might be different, but the tape i use is super waterproof so the adhesive is pretty full on lol
    2. its kind of pricy. the tape i use, a 6m roll of kinesiology tape, is $15 aud which kinda adds up compared to a one time price of a binder. i typically use 6 pieces of tape measuring maybe 10cms each time so $2.50 a week!
    3. its unfortunately only feasible to get a FLAT chest with smaller breasts, though ive heard people with larger chests use tape in tandem with other binding techniques to shape and get those thangs Secured. it really comes down to anatomy and technique, like personally i can get relatively flat, but its not guaranteed?
i still find its really worth it to try, it lets me do a lot of active things with the freedom of having a flat chest and to wear shirts more comfortably. my biggest tips are to: shower and then clean the area with alcohol before putting on the tape (so no oils interfere with the adhesive), round out the edges of each strip of tape to minimise lifting, warm up each strip with your hands to activate the adhesive (and rub over it after applying), and get a good flattening sports bra because wearing it over top helps lock everything in especially in the first few hours! also if the tape itches you probably didnt wait long enough between applications lol. hope this helps someone!
