It's still quite a bit different power. Not as necessary...but driving this with FOC feels like my 1/10 scale rigs. I tied for 1st place at the Reaction RC Hobbies mini comp last week with this b-17 Betty. My Creep truck with all the other upgrades didn't podium. I was shocked that this truck with mud tires and stock shocks did so well
I don't agree at all. The Furitek ESCs give you much better control over the stock setup, but brushed motors don't hold a candle to the brushless. I'm running the Tegu/Komodo in my JLU, and a Lizard Pro with brushed motor in my Deadbolt. The Komodo is hands down the winner when it comes to low speed power.
I have a komodo tegu combo in my c10. Until you get a chance to try the new esc, you won't understand what I'm saying. It is not the same as the original esc's when it comes to slow crawl. Is it brushless? No. But still good
You ask me the new mini brushless widen’s the horizons from just a crawler to crawler/mudder ! With the speed, tire and double barrel shock options! More is ALWAYS BETTER.
I just built a brushless system for my scx24. 1406 3600kv motor and a blheli32 esc. Pulled em out of my parts bin, so cost for the repurpose was zero. Super smooth, no noise. The low speed control is amazing.
First thing I noticed about the Micro Komodo, it got warm way quicker then the Barrage that was in use before. Also if you go fast its painfully loud. Might just end up going back to the barrage :)
When you tighten the spur screw, you really should hold the spur, not another gear. You are putting a lot of load on those plastic gears that way. Great vid, I just saw this the other day on Furitek. Definitely on my wishlist!
As you said at the end, you should try to flip the entire transmission, then you gain full room in the front to fit batteries and electronics, with a great 60/40 weight distribution.
Looks like the same amount of work to install it as the larger Komodo. I was hoping the new motor would be kind of drop in without having to cut the electronics tray or battery tray. I love my Komodo in my C10.
It's mainly a weight difference. I could've turned the transmission, but I didn't want to have to cut and mess with the driveshafts. 2fmrc's video of it on FB looked more like the stock configuration with the motor location, so I'm guessing he flipped the transmission
Just installed this setup on my new scx24 Bronco. Much easier install compared to the original 1400kv pancake motor. If you don’t think that this is an amazing upgrade then your most likely not a true rc hobbyist.
Question for you on the kamoto "not micro" Have you notice he doesn't have the "jult or Bumping power that the stock did? Like when you have to jump a rock get that little boost.
Love the new Size, any word if Furitek is going to have an ESC that will work with the new axial ESC combo they are now using in the Gladiator and JLU Jeeps? thanks for showing us the new motor.
Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the Furitek ESC and all to do with the receiver not being programmed to allow 2nd channel to be used for throttle. It's a radio ESC issue.
Beautiful motors very high end quality and performance, my stock motor burnt out in my scx24 deadbolt so I replaced it with a injora 50T brushed and it’s a nice upgrade over stock but definitely want one of these one day.
Yes. Very much. It's already very impressive compared to the stock systems even with the stock radio. I just told Furitek that I was planning to show how much it could change the experience without going crazy with upgraded axles, transmission, brass parts everywhere, etc. I already had the mud tires on this rig for looks. All i changed when I got the motor was ESC and servo. Still using stock servo mount and steering links. Tried to keep it cheap other than the motor and ESC. It's been amazing. One of my favorite to run...even with so many stock parts. And I tied for first in the mini comp last Thursday with it.
just got one of these kits and the brass teeth on the gear are square and not pointed at all on the end. these look like they're gonna shred the plastic gear to death. anyone experience that? or have a long term review?
I got the furitek micro komodo motor for my deadbolt. got the same motor mount you have here on the video. the screws supplied from furitek are way too big. won't go through the holes in motor mount or screw in the motor. what size screws do I need. don't feel like waiting for furitek to answer email or phone
The motor itself keeps spinning smoothly during those times. It's something I see with most FOC systems that try to maintain speed when they hit resistance. Even my 1/10 trucks. Those "jerky" moments I see are when the wheel drops down from the molded cupcake sheets or comes in contact with one. That area in particular creates weird stop and go from the moguls the wheels are all hitting at different times. I also fault the limited sensitivity of the stock axial transmitter for not being smooth. This is evidence by their low middle high ranges on it. So, I would say that the motor itself is very smooth without jerkiness, but the way it is delivered at times many not appear smooth based on the terrain. If it was a steady and smooth incline it would look very smooth.
Struggling to build this. Hoped to find some help. Why show the unscrewing / disassembly and then not the rebuilding and fitting the original case back with the Furitek one? Only the finish of it? 🤔😢 isn’t that the meaning of install video? Shame
At 3:24 I show how it fits after removing the spur gear and stock motor plate. No need to disassemble entire case. Remove the carbon fiber cover from the Furitek mount and place it over where you just removed the stock metal motor plate. The holes only line up one way and only one part fits over the area the driveshafts mount.
Your motor will end up on the opposite side and and stick out toward the front in the end. When you look at the spur gear at 2:45, you can see the motor plate sticks off to the left and the motor is on the backside. The Furitek will mount so the motor is in the right side of the spur gear and stick out from that side.
Thx 🙏🏻 figured it out eventually 😅 Building an almost completely Injora parts “scx24 competition” crawler to use with the red bronco body. At least I hope it will turn out to be noticeably better then a stock or slightly customized out of the box one 😂 Building one from scratch turned out to be a bigger then expe6challenge. Good thing, hours of fun, that’s why it’s a hobby 😜
@@CCxRC Well, you are using a motor mount that allows for adjustment, so could run a larger pinion if the motor has the power for it. I got an scx24 to run around my house... didn't think how slow it would be... and the screw drive diffs that lock instantly. I think I've run it around 5-6 times in the 2 years I've had it.
Thanks for pointing that out. Not sure why I put that...other than I usually am uploading very late at night and am exhausted. :) I've changed it. It was the Furitek Motor Mount
@@CCxRC no problem man love the vids and keep up the great work.just got my scx24 out today with my new batteries forgot how fun it was to drive! just might get this system and a rear steer axle and mod out my stock truck.
HA! Man hands! I dated a chick with man hands a couple years ago. She was a yoga instructor/personal trainer, and had a rockin body from the wrist to the toes. But, man! She definitely had some meat hooks on her! And yep, when I noticed her hands, the first thing I thought of was that episode of Seinfeld.
The new esc's are so smooth it's not necessary to go brushless. The best part about this is that it gives us another option to make your rc your own

All about weight and not power sometimes. Congrats on your finish!

so do mine. Haven't had an issue with any of them.

I will say brushless is king. The one thing is that the larger Komodo runs super cool.
This one has been pretty cool as well, but I haven't run it more than 20 minutes at a time.

I will say, it bested a lot of trucks at our local mini comp. Taking it back tomorrow for more.
I have this works great. My truck was all billet though and had to cut the receiver plate and add a spacer to mount the receiver higher
Awesome video, thank you for this comparism.
Just got a micro comodo for my deadbolt. Looking at what I need to do for an esc now. Lizard pro looks good.

With all the after market parts, I’d rather just build my own from scratch. Unless you like replacing the Axial parts until you have two rigs lol.
Dad budget, I just replace one part at a time when I can cash out my spare change.

I wouldn't even know how to guess. It's got power though
You should run betty tire backward lol
Like the tires on your b17 man what brand are they and part number
Would different electronics and controller help this new motor crawl smoother and slower?

That esc looks small enought to put under the battery tray to keep every thing low as possible
Dang it wish I known that, I would’ve waited and got the smaller one
The big ones are good too. I've got 3 of them and really like them
Hello ! Could tell me what are the dimensions of the comodo motor in mm please ?
What is the best 3s to run in scx24 with this set up ??
I would lovevto try this in my scale rigs. But they arexa completely different trans. Not sure how it would hook up. But that's a sweet motor.
You’d have to find a way to swap out the trans
I have the HotRacing bouncer chassis. Wonder if that would fit without trimming it.

Does that motor mount let you run the motor in the stock location? Nice setup!
Awesome! How is the speed of the Micro Komodo setup vs the stock setup?
I would say it's pretty close. I haven't done a side-by-side test yet.
What size screws did u use to mount the mini komodo to the mount were they included I don’t seem to have them :(
My scx24 bronco batter took a dump, what do you recommend?

I’ll have to look. Not sure
How do I put the transmitter in different speed modes? Was not in the instructions.
I just installed my micro Komodo and lizard pro, having issues with the motor twitching. Any help would be great.
I see the mini komodo is jerky in some moments; you will see when trying to climb when the stall is more often
