Anyone ever notice John Secada with his messed up mop on his head? LOL This was an amazing band, and even though Cuba's government is terrible, Gloria and her posse represented the finer parts of their people. So to Cuba, thank you for giving us such amazing music. Too bad you won't let your people be so great there!

Living in S. Florida in the 80s, this music was the best. I couldn’t get enough of Gloria and the Miami sound machine. Sadly it wasn’t as popular throughout the rest of the country. I asked if my sister in MN liked one of her songs and she had barely heard of it. I don’t think it had the same appeal anywhere else as it did in S. Florida
I have to tell you that some of us in England loved and continue to love Gloria Estefan and her energy, she showed immense courage to continue after that terrible accident. She's an example to all.
In Alabama we all loved her! I listened to ALL her stuff and so did my friends.
Her popularity really spread out in the early 90s
Well I'm black and they played her music on the biggest R&B station in Chicago WGCI in regular rotation. I think MN was just yokels back then.

She is one of those Artists that defined the 80's, like Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, El DeBarge, Anita Baker, Janet Jackson, Peabo Bryson, James Ingram, Patti LaBelle, Michael McDonald, George Michael, George Benson, Spyro Gyra, Kenny G., Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, and so on and so on.

I remember the first video I saw with Gloria Estefan. I had no idea who she was, but she was my 12-14 year old celebrity crush. Then I found out she was legit old enough to by my mom. She was still the reason I learned Spanish in high school. Her music is still enough to make the old me dance around, much to my kids' chagrin/
