hello!! i am very happy with how this video came out, and i hope you like it. :] you've probably seen clips of this countless times on my instagram/twitter, but the whole project is complete now and this will serve as the official first part of a little story im working on. (this was foreshadowed in the bloodpop video, shhhh..). hopefully more animations on the way, if not i am always active on instagram and twitter if you'd like to see more of my work

Watching her feeling that urge to cave in and grab the game-orange is a relatable feeling, at least for me.
It seems like a great metaphor for what happens in real life where you can use games or the internet to escape reality... only to reach back into depression or bad memories after escaping it and ignoring it for so long.
It was tucked away out of sight, but it has always been there waiting, and feels just as painful. I could be wrong about that, but this was a really insightful animation nonetheless, thank you cudlil!
I totally agree with your interpretation!! While watching this animation I got a sense of loneliness & burnout. The game-orange seems to be a reoccurring theme, with the lyrics âplug me inâ alluding to that desire to escape back into the gaming world. Iâm still not sure who the white/purple characters are though. Maybe they represent characters that are in the game-orange, or maybe they represent her emotions? Or maybe Iâm just over analyzing it đ

i had a really good friend and one of our favourite things was to play minecraft bedwars. unfortunatley keyword here is HAD a really good friend. every once in a while when im down I feel like playing bedwars again and it only makes me feel sad and depressed missing those good times.

My best guess on the lore is that purple girl represents aggressive optimism, as well as all the personalities and self images she goes through to find one that works. Grey girl is a consistent but sadder personality that sheâs neglected for so long, sheâs starting to forget it.
It doesn't matter how long you're gone for, you always come back with an amazing animation â€ïž

I believe the animations about the relationship between cudlil and the idealized version of herself. The difference between how she and the imaginary version of herself act in each place makes me think that the "idealized" version of her is more funny (puppet), outgoing/confident (no towel above her at the pool), and productive(doing work instead of watching youtube). At the end though, that idealized version starts to become overwhelming and its shown as that version becoming a giant monster.
The grey version of her might be her inner self or a past version of herself, probably the 2nd one because she only appears whenever the game thingy is there, which could be reminding cudlil of how she felt in the past. It might also be showing that this "idealized" version of herself has been a recurring thing.
Anyways, thanks for reminding me of Celeste and damn you for not only making me spend 25 minutes on this instead of my math homework but also making me toil over those damn *tangerine metaphors*

I find the âghostâ person feeling neglected, however the âgreyâ person is just scared, and pretends to ignore them while the white ghost slowly gave up hope then forcing attention onto themselves

What a beautiful animation! Lots of people have said similar, but hereâs my interpretation:
All the different characters are different sides of her. Thereâs the grey girl, seemingly depressed and withdrawn and who wants to just hide and draw. It seems like this personality has been âshoved in a drawerâ to become the sweet, bubbly person she is now, but she finds herself drawn back to it sometimes when she gets burned out. Then thereâs also the jokey, bright personality, who she dreams of being all the time. That one isnât afraid of being at the pool, and doesnât cower inside. The monster personality seems to be her insecurities/mental health issues/frustration at not being ânormalâ. It yells at her grey personality, likely for being so miserable and shut off, and then it yells at her again when she finds her happy personality slipping. Itâs as if itâs telling her, âYouâre not allowed to be unhappy when youâve come so far! How dare you not appreciate everything you have!â
All in all, animation compliments aside, I think this tells a very common story of burnout and depression. Not to psychoanalyse, but I imagine itâs probably a very personal struggle and I hope youâre feeling well, OP (and anyone else reading this) đ
I was wondering if it was that or perhaps a representation of a string of failed friendships or relationships. The purple girls seemed too distinct from the one in color to be the same person, but then the grey one would be her insecure self-image. I donât know. Iâm bad at interpreting metaphorical imagery.

As someone trying to get into animation I can officially say this is officially classified as amazing
Hereâs how I got into some animation. What I did was become really good at regular art, and then I got into animation and I was just good sort of at it. I think this is because of how familiar I was with drawing dragons (what I animate) and so drawing the same approximate shape over and over in each frame was easier,.

Literally I think this my new favourite animation meme ever. The way you animate blinking is so strangle satisfying. And the colouring is gorgeous, animation is timed so well and transitions so thoughtful. I can interpret 2 things from this. It feels like either
1. The grey girl is a friend of her past and the she left the main character for the pink girl to improve her popularity, but the pink girl was actually quite abusive, and the reason the shows up in the main character's imagination is because the same thing could've possibly happened to her, or
2. The grey person is a part of he she wishes to hide in order to seem more normal, and less depressing, probably to get more friends or just seem like a btetter person all in all, and the pink girl is just someone to keep the grey in check. This came from when the pink girl was doodling and the grey girl was balled up in the corner. It seems as if instead of doodling, she was taking notes on the grey person, and it seems fear was the best way to keep the grey person from showing to much- the fear of not being normal, and instead an abnormal outlier.
I love how you chose the colors, they fit very well together, and the harsh contrast between the grey version and the colored version is so perfect!

I really like it when stuff like this is portrayed in scenes where they are outside in the sun, itâs showing how it isnât just on rainy days, itâs always, often times people attribute these feelings to rain or cloudy days, but thatâs not the only time that these feelings come around
I know last year when I was in a depth of my depression, and it was during the summer, I just wanted to go to a field of grass, and lie there, slowly rotting away and dying in the sun. But I donât often see that depicted in stuff

I believe that pink is the combination of her desire to be social and the pressures that socialization entails, and the grey is her internal struggle with negative self-image and insecurities. The pink makes her happy sometimes, but other times it adds pressure to be more socially acceptable and perfect, and in turn the pink attacks and terrorizes her insecurities causing mental turmoil. This combination leads to the masking her true feelings behind a bubbly personality, making the pink more destructive. A tool that once helped her overcome her fears has now become the fear. Social acceptance is a dragon we all chase but very few keep hold of it for long. You need the pink with the grey to be authentic.

Anyone else feel like this kind of art, music, animation, or otherwise really hits home, and get kinda sad that you don't work in any kind of field of art and could never express your struggles in something so beautiful? I work in STEM and I can't help but feel like other people who work in the field feel like that too.
I totally know the feeling, but I also remind myself that working in computer sciences means that we build and maintain the tools that let artists create what we see here...

Such an amazing animation. I've always been so fascinated by animators and the way each seems to be able to come up with their own unique style of animation. I've never been able to find this level of imagination/creativity of my own, I've always been able to come up with all these different wild story ideas but never the means to actually express them in any way (i.e. animation, literature, those kind of ways)
The only emotion I feel during this is an overwhelming urge to hug this person and ask them what's going on.

i relate to that/ this is a perfect example of a person seing how they would react before some traumatic experience. like before they lost connection with their inner child and true self. i see my own reflection of how i would act isntead of how i actualy react.

As a early transition trans girl in her teens with a bad case of "im the pretty well off cis white male, my problems, even ones relating to my neurodivergence must always be fixed and logically dissimed as me mentioning them takes attention away from others who need it" cultivated from a young age, i really connected with this video and it did made me cry, which, weirdly enough, im grateful for.
