    My mom used to scold me because I buy a lot of first aid/trauma items. Until 1 day, I lost my balance and cracked my head open. She was screaming because blood was pouring out of my head. Thank God for my trauma kit. QuikClot to the rescue.

      I’m so glad! Yes a good organizational tool is key… we get in and out of this kit multiple times a week and it has been so helpful to keep it easy to find and easy to refill! Thanks for watching

    She went to grab the QuikClot and then called 911. The Quikclot stopped the bleeding within about 5 minutes. By the time the ambulance got there, it was 20+ minutes later. Thank God I had QuikClot, it saved my life. If I waited for the ambulance I would have bled out.
    Even the paramedics and ER staff were shocked on how fast QuikClot worked.

    My doctor was saying the other way to do it is to mix your own epi instead of an epi pen.

    • @homemakingwithoutfear
      @homemakingwithoutfear  Před rokem

      Yes I have since done that and keep a vial and syringe in my kit…. Many people kind of blank out in an emergency and I worry they wouldn’t be able to think clearly to draw up and administer the appropriate dose…. Epi Pens make it fool proof but man they are expensive too!!!

This is an expansive kit and it helps so much to see everything! I am definitely going to get my stuff together. It’s too late when something happens and we are not as prepared as we can be. May God bless you and your family and your CZcams journey. I am also an enneagram 6!!!

    A quick tip, if you have a hard time to get the Steri Strip to stick to the skin, you can use Benzoin Tincture first, then you apply the Steri Strips.

    Steri strips are better. They are a lot stronger and more durable. Most surgeons use the sterile straps along with skin glue.

    Your right. Epj pens are so hard to get ahold of. I have so many allergies that put me into anaphylaxis, and it is impossible to get epi pens. And if I do, it has such a short shelf life. Usually 2 to 3 months.

    • @homemakingwithoutfear
      @homemakingwithoutfear  Před 2 lety

      Yes it’s crazy and after they re-branded everything it just made access more difficult. Thankfully no know anaphylaxis in our home but you never know. Since you work in medicine it might be possible and easier to GEt ahold of a vial of epi 1:1000 concentration not the 10,000. It’s super cheap you just have to teach your family or make sure you can draw it and administer it safely. Way more doses and way more cost effectively. Also lasts longer. Adults:
      500 micrograms (0.5ml) of 1:1000 adrenaline solution

    What happens if someone has a heart attack and they pass out? Could you crush up the Bayer and put it under their tongue?

    • @homemakingwithoutfear
      @homemakingwithoutfear  Před rokem

      No at that point the aspirin becomes less important and maintaining airway and circulation is top priority! Aspirin does no good in a person not breathing or pumping blood! If they pass out focus on keeping their airway open- side lying recovery position in case they vomit and call 911. If they stop breathing start giving rescue breaths (I have a cpr mask in my kit too) and if they become pulse less you gotta start compressions!
      Putting anything in the mouth of an unconscious person is NEVER a good idea. Could cause choking or aspiration. Thanks for your question 🙏

    • @homemakingwithoutfear
      @homemakingwithoutfear  Před rokem

      Of note: I do encourage people to chew the aspirin and swallow- not just swallow it With water. works better that way.
