    Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

A mentor said to me: Just start writing, don't wait. Get it out. Make mistakes. Learn more. You'll find once the moment passes...the energy dissipates until it's never written to begin with, which is really the only crime committed.

I stumbled on this video during my quest for videos that would help me get started on writing, and nearly spat out my drink when Tony said that he grew up a Jehovah's Witness. I grew up a JW too, have been out since my mid-twenties, and I face the same struggle of feeling guilty over trying to, and especially attaining, success. I have wanted to dedicate my life to artistic pursuits, from music to writing to drawing, but have always felt it was beyond my reach because of the indoctrination from the religion and the people around me that were in it, and, as Tony put it, the things you get told, where you are "not supposed to be a part of this world." After all, gaining success of any variety means you are not a good enough JW and you associate too closely with "Satan's system of things." It is very refreshing and encouraging to hear this man's experiences and that, in spite of his struggles, he is able to do what he wants. It gives me hope. Thank you!

I'm not a JW, but all of the ones I'm familiar with are business owners or management, who do quite well for themselves. I wouldn't have guessed that an aversion to success is part of the teachings of JWs.

I had an anatomy professor take pride in being hated by his students. He was actually rude and would yell at you. At the end I realized the way into his tiny heart was to ask meaningful questions about anatomy (and himself) lol.
This man seems much kinder, and I bet that if he knew there was true interest and accountability, he will be the best mentor to you.

I was fortunate enough to have a primitively powerful reaction at a young age with a cinema viewing of Disney's critically conflicted movie THE BLACK HOLE. Something just clicked with me when I went through that experience, ninety minutes of awe, mystery and peril which probably more than any other movie gifted me an appreciation for how subjective artistic success can be.
It's interesting and ironic but when I analyse why I might not have liked something, not always but often it tends to be because it was something which was always around every corner, desperately promoted to death rather than being allowed to just sit. A movie which springs to mind was Tim Burton's BATMAN. You couldn't escape from the marketing, which forced me to just walk away from it until a few years after the hype.

The first advise I give to those who are beginner writers is - don´t use Iceland´s guardian element beings (called ´landvættir´ in Icelandic) and make them trying to communicate Icelandic with people who have never heard the language before. Its why so few Americans talk about Jón Árnason´s collection of myths and legends (Þjóðsögur Jóns Árnasonar). Every tenth page belonging to this HUGE story collection somehow mentions these 4 elemental beings and the terrifying results of what happens when people fail to comprehend them. Icelandic elves make amazing characters and contribute to well over 90 per cent of the plot lines in this collection, making it one of the world´s most popular ones out there. Thanks for this video! Kind regards from Ásgeir in Iceland.

There is only one truth. If what you see as truth conflicts with what I see as truth, one of us is incorrect. Perhaps it isn't necessary for either of us to convince the other or to compel acquiescence, but maybe, depending on the stakes, it IS necessary.

24:14 He was raised very religious... Unfortunately, he never made the effort to understand the Bible. Evil is NOT the theme of any part of the Bible, including the story of Abraham & Isaac. The themes are trust, obedience & that God provides. Anything beyond a surface reading of the entire story & thinking about more than just that one aspect of it would have cleared that up for him. His inability or unwillingness to understand the Bible makes me question his authority to give writing advice.
