The thing about tarot cards, or any sort of psychic reading, is that the cards help guide the conversation, but it's not magical. A good tarot reader will get you thinking on your own life and what direction you want to take it in, not try to "predict your future". Predicting the future is impossible, everyone knows that, but most psychics worth their salt are good at reading people, and in a very short time will tell people what they think they might need to hear.

The keyword being need, of course. That's what people don't get. It's basically a method of figuring yourself out without trying to be in denial. It isn't actually telling your future. In fact, most spreads have nothing to do with the future at all. Most spreads I've seen relate to your current self.

They tell the person something vague, something that can apply to many people. Derren Brown (a great mentalist) once did an experiment where he wrote down a description of 5 or so different people lives. What they didn't know is that each of these descriptions were exactly the same, and he has written something so vague that they turned it into something they thought was very personal.

Artoria Pendragon i don't know if you're being sarcastic but "southern blonde and petite" is incredibly vague considering it's not even describing a real human being, but some theoretical human being that they could run into or not run into.
so the medium admits that it's just "one possible future". so literally all they said was "it is possible that you will have a relationship with a blond petite girl in the future, or maybe you won't." that's not psychic powers, that's "making an educated guess about a white guy that can't even be proven wrong"

She's not actually reading the cards. She is a medium, and she keeps saying "They're showing me..." so it's the spirits giving her messages, not the cards. Tarot cards would never be as specific as to mention Annie Hall, so this video is setting up expectations of Tarot Readers that would be impossible to meet, unless they were also mediums.

Mandy, it's your subconscious that reads and interprets the symbology on the cards. You do not have to be psychic to read them. I've been a professional reader for over 30 years, and mainly read intuitively. When I find that mediumship is coming in during a reading, it's completely different, and I don't need the cards at all. You could read the cards if you wanted to. You can learn the meanings from any good tarot book, but you will NEVER get the messages this lady is getting unless you are a medium, That was the point of my original comment xx

I read tarot myself and I have put a *LOT* of effort into studying it, from the imagery, to the symbolism, the four elements, the numerology, the body language of the characters and how each cards link together etc... It really disappoints me because it creates a certain perception of tarot in peoples' minds. I have been reading for around 9 months now and I still spend hours studying and practicing each day. One thing I will say though, is I don't believe tarot cards predict the future because nothing is set in stone. I hate the fortune telling stereotype.

I'm a huge skeptic, but I got my palm read in Jamaica on vacation. I gave the dude 20 bucks cash and just sat down and he read my hand. He was able to tell me my exact date of birth, AND my mothers. There is no way he could have attained such information because I didnt pay with debit, credit, etc and gave him no ID, or form of personal identification. I won't completely write off people who practice these arts, because some things just can't be debunked through deductive reasoning. I know some (perhaps like the woman in the video) are giving generalizations to people based on hints they pick up on prior to the reading, but I can't say it's not possible. I always tell people about my story, just as a reminder that there are spiritual unknowns out there. And just because they sound ludicrous doesn't necessarily make them untrue.

gameguy8101 I see what you're saying, but usually when they say that, it means that you shouldn't wait around shaping your life on what these cards are saying, but this is an outcome that is likely to happen if you continues on the path you're on, but of course the future can change so it's more just getting your head out the gutter and letting you know what is possible. And if you choose a different path, your cards will read differently. But if you don't believe it, you don't believe it, but can't hurt to explain it a little :)

I'm going to write a really long comment tearing all of these "predictions" apart.
"This is a _possible_ future. The way I read is like you get information from 'higher' and you do with it what you choose to."
-Immediately writes off any responsibility for incorrect predictions. Which doesn't make it a prediction, really.
"They keep showing me Annie Hall..."
-This is an easily drawn conclusion, considering he quite clearly styles himself to look like Woody Allen's character from Annie Hall. She probably paired that with an off-hand comment he made about romance or dating. An impressive "prediction," but still easy to fake.
"You're going to be in a dramatic Asian film."
-First of all, wow, way to pigeonhole the Asian guy. And secondly, he lives in Los Angeles, works for an internet show ,and dresses fashionably, obviously one of his interests would be the possibility of appearing in a successful feature film.
"I feel like you moved to Los Angeles, and you were like 'oh my god, I'm doing it, and everyone said, 'are you sure you wanna go there, it's a dangerous place!'"
-Most people who live in LA have moved there from elsewhere. Not an astounding revelation.
-He's clearly a nervous guy, not too much of a jump to think he'd be nervous about moving to a new city.
-EVERYONE'S friends and family pull that "Are you sure you want to move" schtick, because they CARE. Duh.
"I see dancing, do you Zumba?"
    "No, I swing dance..."
    "OH I LOVE SWING DANCING."
-The art of distraction. If she gets a "divination" wrong, she focuses on flattering the person in order to distract from her incorrect prediction.
    "You do handwritten hand-journaling..."
-She works for Buzzfeed, probably majored in journalism or a related field, and most aspiring journalists keep handwritten journals.
"They're saying you should get out more. You need to have more fun. More 'Sex in the City,' less 'work, homework, home.'"
-She's wearing a plain button-up shirt, glasses, has unstyled hair, and does not wear makeup. Likely a work-minded person. Easy conclusion.
"I see building up the home... in the valley, maybe..."
    "The valley, UGH..."
"I'm not sure what I'm seeing, it just feels like that."
-An easy excuse to hide a blunder.
"You'll be dating more than one..."
    He makes an uncomfortable face
"You don't usually do that, it's new to you."
-Reading his expression in order to make up a new "prediction" about his personality. Easy enough if you're good at picking up on social queues.
Her "predictions" were not remotely impressive. They're just generalizations and conclusions she came to from very basic observations she made of them.
    It's not that difficult.
I still cannot comprehend why people buy into this stuff.

They say that she's been reading for a while but I don't buy that. If anything you say the meaning of the cards and what it could mean, like a new person coming into your life or that you need to be wary of a certain type of person. Cards would never say "oh yeah you're gonna be in memoirs of a geisha." That's not how they work.

She got a few things correct, but most of it was rather vague easily applicable statements ie you will travel, you will move, you know an older woman who takes a lot of medication. :/ the worst thing was she got things that were completely off and I was insulted because they seemed stereotypical. She said I would excel in math and medical fields. I'm a photographer. I'm horrific at math and never had any interest in medical sciences. She later tried to pass it off that she was picking up energy from my roommates in the room (they were also Asian), but ALL of us were involved in creative fields. I did confirm I was going to go travel soon for a wedding and she said she sensed "water." And I told her I was going to Texas lmao(from CA). Kind of cringey.

For those of you who are wondering, we do actually sort of know the origin of tarot cards. They originated in France sometimes around the 1500s as a tavern card game, similar to bridge. So in a sense, they were the first playing cards. In fact, if you look at the Minor Arcana, they represent exactly the basic deck of 52 cards we have today. Sure, the suits were different, and they had 4 face cards instead of 3, but it remains that the origins of tarot are not all that dubious.
But as to how they were related to mysticism and divination, I have no idea.

This is just a carnival trick to impress people. Actual tarot readings are meant to help people realize their problems and work them out, and a good one will let you know right off the bat that it isn't magic.
In an actual tarot reading you're shown the cards and you shuffle them yourself until you think it's right and lay them out.The reader won't actually touch them. That way it's supposed to be your own subconscious in charge of the cards. Then you and reader have a discussion about what it might mean, and you usually walk out with some advice. It's a little sketchy because the cards aren't events, they're universal themes, but it gets the person to open up about what's bothering them. And because you're in a closed off space with a neutral party, usually with incense, you feel more relaxed and talk about a lot of issues you wouldn't normally tell people. It's why a lot of people feel sleepy or dreamy when they leave.

as someone interested in Tarot, and do readings myself, I can honestly say reading reactions is very important and is also a part that affects the readings by a good amount. Cards themselves are vague and can mean very different things in according to where they are placed in the spread and who were they spread for. But if you would put every Tarot card and read them one by one for a person they all would turn out to be true. The important thing in Tarot is the part that it guides you, not the part that it tells you the future (that is not the case anyway). So ' you are going to be in a Film' can't be a Tarot reading. Tarot does not have films in it. But Tarot can tell you that you may want to do something new with your life in an exciting project. But when you look at the big scale, everyone may and probably will have big changes made, or big exciting projects to come. The important thing is what that card was placed in response to, which creates a story. And no one knows (only believes or not) that if the Tarot is real or not. But for the reciever, a good and healthy reading by someone who is ethical ( who makes sure that the person who gets the reading KNOWS that nothing is promised during the reading, and careful enough not to give medical, diagnostic or legal advice) it can be helpful in especially setting one's mind in order. People will always recieve what is easy to them first. But they may also recieve what they need, as well. That's why Tarot works, and even though less in number, good Tarot readers still exist. Not because they tell you, "something happen to you at this particular hour and you will eat a sandwich".

    "So is this my future?"
    "It's a possible future."
Sooooo, basically, could happen, couldn't happen, who knows. But if it randomly does, it's because I was right. If it doesn't, it's because you chose a different path - duh.

Tbh once you know the skills they employ to read cards it's funny to watch people be really impressed and shocked. Like all of these observations are so incredibly general and are assumptions based on what can be easily told about you from a single look, and they'll generally be good things so you're less likely to try to see the holes in her theories. She may be good at reading and playing people, but that's all.

      actually she did
This video happened 5 years ago
The guy with Glasses (Zach) actually during a few years was secretly dating a girl from Peru called Maggie around 2016-2017, which has not super dark hair, but brown and she is super sweet, as well, a nurse that helped Zach with his chronic illness.
Eugene, the asian guy, made a video a year ago where he came out as gay, and he was wearing an Asian dress, almost resembling a geisha. He also bought a house and has a backyard. He is currently dating and living with his boyfriend Matt.
The medium on the video said that Fortune Telling does not predict the future, it can show the possibility. If you want that possibility to be true, you have to work for it, its a little bit of guideance, but never definitive.

Yeah I would say that was fake. I read Tarot, and usually the Death card doesn't actually mean death. It means something has to end (die), for there to be a new beginning. For example if you have been looking for a job, you may get the Death card because one job ended, and a new one is being born (so to speak). There's more to it, like depending what the other cards say, but this is an example.

There are a lot of factors involved in Tarot. The skill of the reader, the openness of the one being read and the cards only show the probable outcome. One decision can derail the shown potential.

People treat it like hocus pocus, but it’s more of a heads up from the universe not a crystal ball, the same way people in church prey for guidance, tarot readers look to cards for comfort it’s hardly that far fetched tbh
