Video hopes to draw visitors, job seekers
GMACC and LAIC partner to promote community
MADISON, S.D. - A video making the rounds over social media the past few weeks was officially released Monday evening at the Chamber’s annual holiday mixer.
The video was commissioned jointly by the Greater Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Area Improvement Corporation to promote the community.
“Research suggests that over 60% of internet traffic is now video,” said GMACC Executive Director Eric Hortness. “Information is better retained when video accompanies content and we thought this was the perfect way to ensure people remember all the great things Madison has to offer.”
The video will be featured on both the LAIC and GMACC websites and both organizations encourage businesses to post it on their websites and social media platforms as well.
“We want the video to become viral and get as many views as possible,” said LAIC Executive Director Julie Gross. “We’ve already seen a lot of positive comments since the video first hit the internet and we hope that continues to grow.”
The seven-minute video was created by Wollmann Productions and features a variety of live shots of the Madison area and interviews with local residents. Wollmann did not utilize a script for any of the interviews.
“A lot of the people interviewed ended up saying very similar and positive things about Madison and why they choose to live here, which was very encouraging considering all of the interviews were conducted separately,” added Gross.
The LAIC has actively been promoting the Jobs page on their website. Now, visitors considering a career opportunity in Madison will have a full overview from people who live and work here.
Both organizations believe the video will be a great way for people to experience the community and to attract visitors as well as potential businesses.
“This is going to be a powerful and effective marketing tool,” Hortness said. “We couldn’t be happier with the end product.”

Beautiful place. The land of the great man Wayne Westerberg (the friend of Chris McCandless). Greetings from the real south of the world > Argentina.
