    Dealerships should provide you a front bracket by law. I had to argue for about 2 weeks with the Honda Dealership for this bracket.
    For some reason the dealership this Accord came from didn't provide a bracket, and didn't want to send me one after.
    They wanted me to buy it ($35 with screws included). So I told them it was California law that a front plate must be displayed and if the car was certified, they should not have sold it if the front bracket was never on the vehicle to begin with. Funny enough, as soon as I filed a formal complaint, they were really compliant in sending me a bracket in the mail all of a sudden. 👍🙂

    Is it normal for it to make a loud grinding noise when installing the plate onto the bracket? It feels very resistive and I just want to make sure it’s not damaging anything lol. Thank you!
    Edit: to clarify it’s like the screws don’t want to go in any further but they’re not even in all the way, and then when drilling the screws into the mount it makes a grinding noise

      It's all plastic so shouldn't be too difficult just make sure not to overstrip if using power tools 👍

  • @ryanmallalieu2416
    @ryanmallalieu2416 Před 3 lety +5

    is this doable without a power drill? also it seems like the bottom obscures the top of the camera/sensor - is that correct?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Před 3 lety +3

      It's for sure doable, would just take a bit longer with some elbow grease to push into it.
      If you do it with a mechanical screwdriver,
      1) align the bracket with the "H" logo
      2) tape it in the center so its secure
      3) Use a sharpie to mark the 3 dots where you will screw into the bumper
      4) Remove the bracket and tape
      5) Use the corner of a Razor blade or sharp knife tip to start carving into the bumper.
      6) Then you could align the screw and start screwing with a standard Phillips Screwdriver
      The 3 screws that go into the bumper would probably require those steps
      The 4 license plate screws are easier. You can see I drilled those 4 holes very easily and quickly.

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Před 3 lety +1

      The bottom of the bracket should not obscure the sensor since it is an OEM bracket. As long as you mount it as shown, it will be out of the way.
      At 1:04 it will say to address the owners manual

    Does this work for a 2018 hybrid? Also, is it possible to do this with just the screws and a screwdriver, or do you need a power drill to make holes first?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Před rokem

      It should, I believe it has the same front end. You should be able to do it, but it may require more hard hand twisting
      You can mark your holes and then soften the bumper with a lighter or candle to soften/ melt the plastic so it makes it easier

      Nope, just what shown in the packaging. The bumper is on there pretty securely. I'd perhaps consider contacting the parts department and asking them if there are any parts like what you're describing. But for me, that's all that came in the kit

    • @Striker50_

      The dealership sells the bracket for around $15 and the screws are maybe another $6. You can go to parts and ask them.
      Yes, if you watch the video, you'll see me drill into the bumper.
      Some people have used Velcro, but I don't recommend it unless you have a special reason you need to take it on and off

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Před 2 lety +4

      A lot of states require the plates to be displayed both in the front and in the rear.
      There are some states that only require the rear, but if you travel to states that ask for 2 plates, they may stop you and cite you. For me, I want to give as little a reason as possible to be stopped.
      Also worth noting the car does look better without the front plate, but you will probably be stopped once or twice every other year if a cop is looking for a reason, especially late at night
