This is why having a live broadcast of the trial was so important. Imagine getting coverage by the media? After carefully editing everything they find damaging to their agenda.

This case has opened my eyes on how horrible the media is. Can't trust 99% of them.

You know, it's quite astonishing that she still didn't cry - even in this interview. Wow. Instead, she came across as angry and hostile.

Is there any oversight of journalism that this can be reported to? Like an ethics committee or some such ? This is blatant manipulation of an interview, not just editing, as has been pointed out.

This sort of thing is a big reason why I just can't trust mainstream media.

The final interview was EXTREMELY edited! This is why we needed the trial cameras because they would have manipulated the information like they have ALWAYS DONE! 💯🏴‍☠️

I am at a loss to understand how, after pretty much losing a defamation case hands down in which JD was not even named, she can go on TV and outright defame him all over again stating he abused her. Surely she is just asking to be sued again. The whole interview comes across scripted and rehearsed and disingenuous

She actually said in the trial: "I never saw myself as a victim"! These are her own words- under oath! So yeah.. she has a loathing of victims obvs

As a DV survivor I feel infuriated by her she doesn’t know what it feels like to fear for her life it’s really triggering & I think if you ask 90% of Dv survivors across the world I think they would most certainly agree. Its insulting quite frankly it took me years before I could even tell my own mother about it & even now I’m ashamed to share all the details.🤬

This is nain reason why Johnny wanted his trial live! This is what i thought the whole time. All those people saying it was bad, distasteful and attention seeking of him. This clearly shows my thoughts all along. Johnny and his legal team were smarter and knew this

I’m so glad you covered this. The evening of the interview I reached out to a couple of people who have been covering the case to let them know. One didn’t respond, the other did and already knew about the edit. But neither did anything with it. I just thought that people would be as upset about this as I was. I didn’t really see anyone talk about it before you, other than a couple of comments on twitter. No one with any reach was talking about, I should say. That’s the reason I wanted to pass that information along, because I knew I could only spread it so far myself. People should be upset about this. Why can’t the media allow us to form our own opinions instead of manipulating us into sharing theirs? Why are they protecting her? If she were a man, we all know they wouldn’t be covering her lies.

If NBC are trying to rehabilitate her image why release both versions of the interview? She looked really bad in the original and it's all over the internet, and pretty much anyone with an interest in this has already seen it. This just makes NBC look equally ridiculous for trying to repackage it into something more palatable.

The big question isn’t “why did they edit…” the real question is: what else did they edit from that “full” interview or others?

As someone who used to be my brother's punching bag for many years well into my adulthood, I instantly recognised the language in her speech as negotiating language. Yes, Amber was truthful in her interview when she said that she was "negotiating" with Johnny. However, she was "negotiating" as the aggressor. Let me explain using my own experience of my brother. He often downplayed and still downplays his violence with almost the same exact words, "I only hit you like this, not like that. Come on, don't be such a baby. Besides YOU kicked my glasses / whatever (in response to my self-defensive actions against him)". I often held my tongue to avoid another punch or kick. The times when I was too angry and hurt, I would invariably reply him with versions of, "I kicked your glasses/whatever because YOU were kicking and punching me! I wish I hurt you even more than that so that you know what it's like to be punched and kicked by you." As the person who received the punches, I NEVER ever used phrases like "I only hit you, I did not punch you. Don't be a baby." Because I never was in the position of "negotiating" with my brother. My brother "negotiated" with me to placate and stop me escalating those incidents to figures of authority, like my parents, guardians, doctor, police, etc. Just thought to let you know an insight from the perspective of a recipient of violence, that only an abuser would "negotiate" the way Amber did in that voice recording. Hope this helps.

If this was seamlessly edited by the NBC, that opens up another question as well. Remember in Morgan Tremaines testimony about TMZ, he said that they had a journalistic practice of inserting a split second of a white screen in places where edits took place, to inform the viewer. That in effect, means that TMZ has a higher journalistic integrity than NBC when it comes to edits.
