    If Broberg was anything close to kulak in terms of ability the oilers would have traded kulak. let broberg go do not make the same mistake as yamomoto or puli. Let him go and take holloway which has a better chance of being something useful

    I'm shocked people are saying Broberg should leave. That guy is a stud going to be a top line defenseman for second round pick. Oilers managemet are fools by not locking up young players.

      people should think from the st.louis perspective.. do you think a 2nd round pick that might turn to be something in 3 years is better than a ticket on broberg at this point.. (note the chance of a 2nd round pick panning out to play 200 games in the NHL for a d-man is like 10% chance or so..).. the 4.5mil is cost of doing business at this point.. which for st.louis since they are not cap strapped.. its fine..

    We got a few good defenseman on the farm that people forget. Sign Holloway.

    With time to reflect since the offer sheet, I think Oilers should let Broberg go. The price to match is too high. Kulak and Ceci are fine, except I would reconsider pairing Ceci with Nurse.

    Its better for young players to be on a team that can give them ice time. They both have a much better chance to make a lot more money in St louis. If Broberg is top 4 there for two years he will make 3x what he would being 7th D in Edmonton.

    St. Louis could also be pretty good this year too bumping that 2nd round pick lower. They where 5 points out of a playoff spot last year with a horrible defense. If Broberg turns out to be a legit 3-4 dman they most certainly will improve.

    If the Oilers matched Broberg and then tried to flip him with a 4.5 M dollar contract would many teams offer more than a second for him? I doubt it. So I think Bruce is right. Just riding with Stetcher for the regular season is likely the way things will go. If the team starts shitting the bed, that's when you really start looking to make a big deal before the deadline.

    If you think you're going to replace Broberg with Stecher, you're lost brother. Broberg should be given priority over Holloway. Defensemen are harder to find than wingers. Holloway can be replaced in-house, but Broberg is something that can not be replaced so easily.

    Broberg is slotted 2nd pair with faulk. Holloway is immediately 3rd line winger. Our 4th line is totally up in the air with a few guys sidelined, so holloway isnt blocked by anybody.

    Broberg clearly didn't read the memo about Ken Holland over-ripening players. He improved at the AHL and stepped into the Stanley Cup finals without a stumble. He was handled the way it was expected. Now instead of playing second pair minutes on a cup contender he gets to play in Missouri. What the effing actual???

      Thanks it’s all not making sense and Holloway is separate from Bromberg it’s crazy.

    He made his appearance in the playoffs. It's doesn't make him a 4 million player. If someone doesn't want to be here then they won't be here.

    If they let Broberg go, sure, it would hurt the future but just go out and sign Barrie for $1M. Holloway can easily be replaced his offer sheet price. That said, the argument for matching both also makes sense for the team in the long term. You would just need to make sure that the other players are fine with it.

    I thought the only option was to match or let them walk to STL since they both accepted the deal so how could EDM potentially shop them to San Jose? That part doesn’t make since to me

    Remember Broberg has had multiple chances to crack this lineup. I really like him but the long term implications are severe to the CAP. Also many cup contenders and champions have had to let go studs just look at Big Buff and he is twice the Dman Broberg is and will be

    • @darrenh6169
      @darrenh6169 Před 25 dny +1

      That means nothing to me. Based on the preseason games, Adam Erne should NOT have been signed...but he was (I know that he's not defence). Ben Gleason was an actual stud during the preseason and should have made the opening night roster...but reasons unknown (Woody??? maybe why he's not hired by anyone else again), he was sent down.

    4.5 million dollar is way to much for a player how just have been playing some few games the last season broberg was defintly not any good defensmen in the start of the latest season and he was also sent down to ahl beacuse of that let st louis blues be overpaying broberg .broberg is never be a top 4 defencemen in nhl trust me he is to thin for that and he is doing al to many mistakes al the time let him go bye bye broberg
