Aquaman and Mera vs Superman was awesome. My body wasn't ready for that epicness.
same, that whole escape was great. Aquaman fighting the US Army with Mera and trying not to kill anyone. At the same time arguing with Mera on how it wasnt right for her to try to rescue him. The US government throwing mad shade at Aquaman. Than ending with the Fight with Superman and warning them to fix this mess or else. Whats not to love about that. Aquaman Rebirth completely underrated. i just started reading Aquaman at the end of New52
Its scary to realize how dangerous Aquaman really is if he doesn't hold back.
Chris McDonald yeah, and his trident is pretty much Mjolnir. He can control storms, create lightning strikes, it's indestructible, and he can manipulate water with it. I read b4 that Aquaman could mind control anything that came from water even if it once evolved from there. So anything and anyone from earth. he can't do that anymore. he is still pretty strong and even scarier w/his trident
OMlN0US And in new 52 its shown that his trident is based in magic so it can do some damage to Superman.
Chris McDonald Exactly. But what is very interesting (and important) to note is the fact that Aquaman didn't have his trident when he was throwing down with Superman.
Whilst it was pretty obvious that Superman was holding back, the confrontation was clearly written to demonstrate how even without his signature weapon, Aquaman is a serious threat (Mera too). The way he was going straight fisticuffs with Supes, without missing a beat, and then of course the display of military might at the end. Masterful writing.
Sure, Supes made the threat towards the end, but that was probably thrown in there so that it would be made clear that Superman is still undoubtedly the stronger of the two. Even still, the point was obvious: Superman wouldn't just body Aquaman with ease in a fight, in fact he'd get a decent challenge.
Don't worry Altantians the surface world countries don't have its shit together either.

Amazing Zero I think in some way is not supposed to be creepy cause, in general, we don't eat ants. So, talking to aquatic life, and then eating such, raises some potential ethical concerns. Just the same way most pet owners talk to their pets, we humanize them and then if we ate them society, as it is in America, would have a disproving attitude towards that

if we eat sacred animals everyday there shouldn't be a problem with eating any other animal including pets in my opinion

Charziken909 I get what you are trying to say, but your metaphor doesn't work. In order for it to work the society needs to be the same and Americans eating beef and Hindu in India are different. Now if they, in India, talked to the cows and also ate them, then you'd be spot on.
its not about the eating fish thing, and antman has other abilities. its the idea that fishes generally cant do shit on land, so his plots seems very engineered. personally, i just bring up that he talks and has control over sea creatures. cthulhu and godzilla are sea creatures. best hero

I've only read a few things from him, but really liked his Flash run and he basically saved Green Lantern (though let's not talk about the movie lol)

TheAnimaAnimal I've started to read comics with Rebirth expecting Superman and Batman to be my favourite titles but it turned out to be Aquaman, Titans and Green Arrow (and the new Green Lanterns). Glad he did a video for Aquaman!

As one of the diehard Aquaman fans...GREAT video! I definitely want more.
The fish talking thing was a problem for Aquaman but also... look at that costume! Also, the Aquaman of the 90s is such a hilarious overcorrection that it only serves to embarrass him in retrospect (SO GRITTY! MY SON DIED! MY HAND'S A HOOK!).
The best version of Aquaman is Batman The Brave and the Bold! It embraced the goofiness, but made him into a lovable adventurer Errol Flynn style.
When i first saw this i got mad excited. Aquaman has been like one of my top 5 favorite superheroes of DC for a while and yet he is so underrated its annoying!!!

Thanks for this Rob. I love Aquaman, i love his story, the Atlantean mythology, its all so intriguing to me, unfortunatley not to everyone. & Dan Abnett is doing great work on Aquaman hope he keeps it up.
Aquaman is my most favourite Comic book Character. I grew up with the old Comics from my Father and he only had one Aquaman Comic but this Comic was so good it was about Aquaman who hunts Black Manta for killing his Child. And the Art was so awesome and Aquamans struggle un-aliving Manta was perfectly shown. That's how I ended up a Aquaman Fan.

I will admit to being a diehard Aquaman fan since the 90s. He is always underrated. He has some of the most complex stories I have ever read as his stories are not just see bad guy, put in jail or defeat. He is constantly being pushed both as a hero and as a politician. Also Mera has always been kind of a loose canon....she loses her mind on several occasions. Most notably when her son is killed.
He's been talking to fish for like 70 years.. we won't forget. lol
People you'll glad to know that Aquaman has jumped from 72nd on my 100 top heros list to 34th. Let give him around of applause. 🙌🎉🎊

Aquaman is a great and very interesting super hero. His conflicted nature of being not accepted neither on land nor on Atlantis always haunts him (at least since Geoff Johns took over in New 52). Geoff Johns run was great, Jeff Parker's run was good (not at the level of Johns' but very decent) but then it took a hit. Thankfully Dan Abnett is doing an interesting series now. Glad you did a video for Aquaman. If you have time (and/or read that series) you should do one for Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.

I've always liked Aquaman, especially the nineties and new version of him. I learned to spearfish when I was six, and back then, although his character wasn't "hero"ish, the concept of him made it easier for I to fish at night beyond the reef. I didn't feel the same about Namor because back then, he was alway a bully type of character and there was more than enough of them in the waters.

For 20+ years I had always thought Aquaman was a joke, but as time goes on I have come to view him as one of the top members of the Justice League.

good job explaining. i never cared that he talked to fish, i thought it was more GRAND. as he controlled all sea life to do as he willed. i thought 90's Aquaman was cool, but it wasn't until the Injustice comics and Flashpoint Versions that i really started to respect him.

Ok. I'm not a big Aquaman fan. But, as a kid, I thought he was pretty cool. Especially in his own adventures. I think the problem with Aquaman is that when he was created, a guy that could breathe underwater and have those kinds of adventures was pretty cool. In this day and age of more and more powerful heroes, he just kind of fell by the wayside. Most writers just didn't know what to do with him. This new take on me reminds me of the 70's version I grew up with. And it seems pretty good. I'm not adverse to good Aquaman stories.; So, here's hoping it keeps getting better and better from here.

I had approached DC about 5 or 6 year ago for the prospect of writing an Aquaman story. It was inspired a lot by Wonder Woman, one of my all time favourite heroes. Arthur Curry would have been granted the powers of Poseidon, and would be on the same level of capabilities as Shazam or Wonder Woman, and the dark 90's demeanor would have been reworked so he'd be less abrasive, and more of a pragmatic and approachable kind of person. I was basically turning him from Wolverine to Thor, personality wise, if that analogy helps. His main story would have been about Black Manta utilizing underwater geothermal vents to power a weapon that would ruin melt the ice caps in order to desalinate the entirety of the worlds oceans.
I actually enjoy reading this arc mostly because I like his relationship dynamic with Mera. They make a great power couple and tag team.

Aquaman Re Birth is the bomb I love it , I got # 9 on order the story is great , and it's not that he talks to fish he can manipulate them to do what he wants. He is part God and his kingdom is 70% water to Earth , and I was one who never new why he got disrespected . Later as I got older I learned of the Sub Mariner, but another story, but I Love Aquaman ReBirth it will make you a Aquaman fan if you weren't one all ready.
I always enjoyed the character of namor the submariner better bc of his dont care to be a hero just want my kindom to thrive kind of attitude. But aquaman is more relatable in the fact that he is getting judged all around even by his own people and is doing the tight thing but is seen the wrong way.
I have read more Aqua-Man books than any other character and think he is one of the best comic book characters.

Black Manta has been an awesome villain who I always pull to win vs Aquaman. That rivalry equals that of Barry Allen vs Eobard Thawne.

Ive ALWAYS liked aquaman. I thought he was cool since I first saw him, I grew up with Paul Dini and Bruce Timm's Batman and Superman in the mid-late 90s to early 2000s.... but I didn't grow up with that hook-hand version of him I first saw him in the later years of superfriends or whatever it was when they gave him black boots instead the all green one with fins on the back, that's all I rmbr lol I was like 6 watchin it on boomerang......but I loved the badass Aquaman when I saw him from Dini and everybody in the DCAU.... to ME, that IS what D.C. Canon is all based off of for me, I always judge everything like films and stuff how well they follow the storyline by the ones from the DCAU and 90s early 2000s era Comics that is the D.C. I've always known and loved....... but I loved NEW52, Snyder's Batman was epic af , and Geoff Johns is great at writing Superman, like Men of Tomorrow it was Epic AF too but the first writers didn't do very good I've never like Loeb at all idk WHY they would put HIM on ur biggest title that makes no sense. But Johns and Tomasi n Jurgens ALL wrote Superman great in NEW52 I loved it...., im just now starting on Rebirth and I rly like Tynions run in detective Comics so far, so we'll see how it all goes I can't wait to get to the Metal event... but I might pick Aquaman up too if it's supposed to be this good. I've always liked him a lot anyways
