I often think back to 13 Reasons Why and how much the show raises awareness.
I am really thankful to this show, it explains every stage of grief and shows mental health problems aren't always visible.

When this song plays after Clay gives the tapes to the counselor in season 1, it is something special. The look on Clay's face when he sees all the students walking past him and the sad expression of him looking down and onward is indescribable. You can sense his pain and regret with everything's that's happened up to that point. Great character and cinematography there.

In a video I did for #Upworthy, I put it like this: I understand why people call suicide selfish, but I can't understand why those people can see someone set on fire every single day and not realize why they might want to put out the flames. And, for those with severe mental health issues, that's how it can feel: Like every day is excruciating pain.

I've been seriously considering suicide for a few days. I was actually starting to plan it and then suddenly this video was recommended and it made me watch the first 2 seasons again, it made me realize that suicide will do nothing but move the pain on to someone else, seeing her parents struggle to cope, seeing someone like clay made me realize that some people may be worth living for and that even if I don't have those people in my life yet, they'll probably come along. I may be a mess now but maybe it's better to give myself time to heal. So this song may have actually saved me

You know it's really sad! The second I was done watching the show I was so sad for about a day and a half, I had to say to myself "it's only a show". But that's the screwed up thing, IT WASN'T JUST A SHOW!!! The issues that were in the show happen in real life. Bullying, depression, suicide, rape, and so many other issues are going on all around us and most of us are doing nothing about it. We need to be kind and loving toward everyone, and if someone is being mean to you kill em with kindness (thank you Selena Gomez!) Treat others as you want them to treat you! If you treat others like crap then you will probably get crap right back at you. Do the world a favor and help people, most importantly don't forget to be kind and loving.

Thebest Betch honestly, do you know the percentage of kids who commit suicide using anti depressants? They don't always work, and even so, if they do, it's not like you pop a pill and boom you're happy.
Depression is so much more then that. If she was that far gone, the only way she could have got help (in my opinion) is if that damn counselor would have done something. She probably needed to go away for a while, and yes, eventually find medication that worked. But she needed to be away from all of those situations that she was around.
Thebest Betch If he acted more on his love for her, then with his love and support she could have seemed professional help with his encouragement. She would have been able to pull through. If only she talked more and/or he listened then she would probably still be alive but it was her decision to leave this earth. Who knows if them being in an intimate relationship would have prevented her suicide.

something people should understand about suicide, is that you can't blame others for killing your self. The person might have been miserable by getting bullied etc, but it was their overall decision to commit suicide. For example, if Hannah didn't cut herself, a better choice would be to switch schools or tell her parents but she decided to kill herself. It might seem like it was bryce, justin, jessica and more to blame for her suicide, but they're just people that bullied her. You can't blame others for your own death, they might of just put Hannah in a sad state of mind by bulling her. This is just my opinion, but I strongly believe that this is the truth on suicide
He doesnt deserve that... He was just afraid like every teenage boy around that age is... its hard to say those words especially in that age... He shouldnt blame his self. I mean, its not fair after all! but on the other sife, fucking bryce should be regretting for what he did every single day of his life.. after all, he is the psycho one. :(
