  • In this video I show how to troubleshoot an iPod Touch that is having issues charging. By process of elimination we were able to diagnosis that the chargeport had failed and ultimately needed to be replaced and have a new chargeport soldered on to the logic board.

    I wondered the same thing when I tore into an iPod the other day. Figured someone else must have been in there before me and just left that adhesive sticker on there, so strange that it’s something like that from the factory!

      Not sure why Apple does that, but it seems they do this for all iPods of this generation.

      I'm sorry to hear about the middle pad. That can be a tricky pad to replace. Soldering is like driving. You will get better the more you do it.

    I’ve got something even stranger: ipod 5th gen A1136 with the classic click wheel. Charges and works perfectly using an old non-oem, non-usb 30-pin plug charger. But no oem usb-30-pin dock will charge it, nor will it sync to itunes, computer doesn’t recognize that it’s plugged into the usb, etc. dock connector is clean, unit is mint, old as it is. No one on the internet has ever experienced this or knows what to do with it

      It kind of sounds like one of some of your pins inside of the port had damaged and not establishing a solid connection. I would first try cleaning the port with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. If that does not resolve the issue, the port may be bad and need to be replaced.

    • @emesappliancerepair3792

      @@iRevive thank you. But if that’s the case, then why does it charge up perfectly using a non-apple non-usb charger? Wouldn’t the charging pins in the dock connector be the same pins?

    • @iRevive
      @iRevive  Před rokem +1

      @@emesappliancerepair3792 that’s a good question. It’s possible that one of the pins is a data line pin. If these are damaged or crossed, they can do strange things like only charge with a specific charger. It’s hard to say.

      @@iRevive thank you. I’m going to take your advice and clean the dock connector port (again) with a toothbrush and alcohol, if that doesn’t fix this issue, then I’m going to change out the port to a new one (which hopefully I can find somewhere to buy) because I really want to “mod” it…but not before I can make a backup of it in iTunes

    Is it possible to acquire files in a dead Ipod exactly the one in the video?

    • @rechargetest9133
      @rechargetest9133 Před 3 měsíci

      Technically yes, if you take it to a data recovery service. What they would be doing is taking the flash memory chip out of the iPod and using a tool like the ACE Lab PC3000 to recover any files that are recoverable. You can buy this hardware yourself if you have $10K to burn, as well as the time to adequately learn the tool, but generally more cost effective just to take it somewhere that will do it for you.

    is it possible to transfer important files like pictures and videos to a working ipod touch 5th gen, from the old ipod touch 5th gen no power?

    • @iRevive
      @iRevive  Před rokem

      In order to recover data from an iOS device, the device has to power on and be unlocked. To recover the data from the old iPod touch 5th Gen, it will need to be repaired first.

      @@iRevivedo you still offer this service? I have an ipod 5th gen that needs the mother board to be swapped to the donor ipod, how much would that be?

    Same issue wont even hold a single bit of charge boot loops and sometimes goes to the battery logo i let it die one day and it never recovered

    I have an ipod touch 5g, and it does not charge, nor does it show the logo, it does not work in any charger, cable or pc, it was opened and the battery charged, so the battery works. What do you think it could be? Do you think I should change the charging flex?

    • @iRevive
      @iRevive  Před 3 lety +1

      In your situation, the next step I would recommend is to replace the charging flex. If your issue persists, then you we be looking at a further issue with the logic board, which may not be economically viable to repair due to lack of schematics. I hope this information points you in the right direction.
