  • In 2006, I had the pleasure of recording a series of interviews with Indianapolis magic legend Harry Riser. I thought that many magicians would be interested in Harry's incredible stories of his life in magic and his friendships with Dai Vernon, Charlie Miller, Ed Marlo, Slydini, Alex Elmsley, and many others. So, I've posted them here for all to enjoy.

Melbourne Christopher was also one of the co-hosts/performers on the very first version of"Wonderama"hosted by Sandy Becker on WABD TV Ch.5 in NYC from 9/25/1955 to 8/1956.

My mother, Cardini's daughter, has a number of additional stories she has told me about this production, from the rehearsals, to the live music, this burn accident, some of the other performers who were on this production that stayed at their NYC home, and more. I really should sit with her and get it recorded.
FYI, his regular performance was 15 minutes, this TV act was 9 and he was not happy about how the producers had him cut it down.

I wish the producers had let him do his full 15 minute act, so it was recorded for posterity. However, I'm thankful we have those 9 minutes of Cardini's artistry preserved . It is doubly amazing to me to watch him with the knowledge that he was performing with his fingers burned from the rehearsal just a few hours previous. What a pro !
