The thing is that the official copies of older Simpsons DVDs have been quietly discontinued and really expensive to find on Amazon.com.

It could be that these later pressings are produced cheaper than before.

You know in 2011 fox did rerelease seasons 1-5 on dvd with the package where you close on both sides but you can take back paper where it shows the episodes off the box and save it if you want

You've probably already been told but as far as the original releases go, they all are sealed on both sides with flaps starting with season 11. But seasons 13 - 18 do not have flaps in Blu Ray form only. I don't know why Fox started packaging them so horribly. The first 5 sets were perfect & should have been continued.

So are the ones in his video not bootlegs? I have the same ones and I'm trying to figure out how to prove if they are (or aren't) legit.

@@andreadoerer4600 He's definitely got some bootlegs. I was just trying to give him more info to help identify the fakes. All the sets from seasons 1-5 should have no flaps to open to get to the DVD's. Fox did slightly repack & re-release them so there are exceptions that I may not know about. They also changed the packaging throughout the years multiple times so they aren't all uniform. Plus, seasons 6-10 had alternate packaging because the original designs (heads) we're very unpopular. Makes it easier to fool people as a bootlegger. But since I made the comment, I got my hands on a bootleg copy of season 4. I can easily tell it's a bootleg. There are so many different people making Simpson bootlegs, I'd have to look at the sets or we'd have to have a very detailed conversation. At the end of the day, if you're just looking to watch The Simpsons, I'd say the bootlegs are fine since these sets have become so difficult to find. Especially after Disney bought Fox & destroyed a warehouse full of Fox DVD's. Disney doesn't want you to watch this show unless you watch them on Disney Plus. But if it is important to you to have the originals, I believe I can help.

@@MushmouthJoe They most definitely did repack seasons when they came out with the 1-20 collectors box set (limited to 1,000). There is a CZcamsr who unboxes each season from his Collectors Box Set and there are several seasons that are boxed differently from original releases.
The standout one for me was his season 4. It is slimmer and covered on both ends with flaps. I had the same packaging and was questioning whether it was official or not, but it definitely is if it came from the official boxed set. It also has an extra insert in it from the original release. So it’s even more confusing with releases.
Could you please answer me a question: Is season 13 embossed on the cover (Ralph)? I thought seasons 11-19 were all supposed to be embossed on the official releases. Is this correct?

I got them off of Amazon Prime. I am upset. I just found some legit ones at a thrift shop. The boots are about two gigs smaller in size of data storage. The video image is lesser but not as different as I expected. Also the “new” dvds are scratched. The boots are missing the books. Now the boots also have a copyright 2011. I could believe they might have rereleased and lesser repackaged in 2011 but there are things wrong with them to make me think these are bootlegs. They copies over everything, even the fox 1800 numbers which I called. The dick top printing is faded and slight pixelation of printed images on the disc.
