- The Half Marathon Des Sables: Fuerteventura 2022
This is it. The race that I've been training for since mid 2020. How would I fare taking on 100km of the toughest terrain Fuerteventura has to offer!
If you like videos about adversity then look no further. It really was a rollercoaster. Enjoy.
Thank you all so much for watching! Please do subscribe if you enjoyed it. I have big plans for 2023.
I’ve just recently gotten into running, partially inspired by you, and it’s really changed my life. 60 pounds down and making improvements every week. I could barely run a mile when I started and now I run at least 30 miles a week. I’ll get to marathon level someday, that’s my goal. Keep killing it man! What an amazing trip
Thank you and well done. 30 miles a week is enough to train for a marathon 👍🏻
Anyone watching this that’s hasn’t ran 50km plus with 1000m plus elevation it’s bloody hard well done Dan keep it up 👍 👏
WellDoneDan ... the scenery, especially on the second day, might even be enough to distract me from the discomfort.
I would think carrying that pole and camera makes running much more difficult. That arm doesn't pump. Great run Dan.
What a wonderful, horrible, fantastic, awful, brilliant, life fulfilling journey
Seeing those mountain trails made me think of the chompers scene from galaxy quest. "F-That!"
OMG #41! reminds me of stories my dad tells about trying to flank Rommel. Crazy! You Rock!
It’s ok my bucket list to run something like this one day
Excellent video. Great production values and a remarkable achievement. More please.
Inspirational stuff Dan - what an achievement and showing perfectly the inner argument that we have with ourselves when we're doing something so challenging.
Well done Dan, it is something that I would have no expectations of competing in. My cousin and niece both do marathons and long distance running, they had tried to get me to do similar.
This day I am 77 and 10 months old, 6 years ago I managed to work up to do a regular three times a week, 10 K run around the local lake, but the C19 lock down, a back muscle issue that had me lain up for about a year, and a minor heart valve flutter, now has me only able to do a half hour run on the treadmill, but I can still walk 10 K at a fairly regular pace. (around 100 mins).
Keep up the good work.
Always impressed by the folks who can keep up a pace like this. I hike, which is just a marathon done slowly for the scenery... anything I do at speed is much shorter. Well done!
Its the view that rallies, yes. Never. Give. Up.
''I'm. Am. NOT. Giving. Up!'' No you did not, and you can be bloody proud of yourself!! Awesome run, grats! ^_^
beautiful place for your holidays
Wow !!!
This is incredible Dan . 👏
Well done. I had a lump in my throat when you finished...
Number 1 Brit 😁
Thanks for the great video! It was nice to look at the wonderful places we have been to in last years HMDS. Too bad your GoPro did not work the last stage. It was such a spectacular stage with the sand dunes. Great performance! And why not the MDS one day … after two HMDS races I am also thinking about it 🤪
Awesome just awesome. I loved the presentation style and your commentary. Great courage and determination. truly inspirational
Congratulations my dear friend, I was there # 228 and that was the greatest experience ever.
Cheers from NYC 🗽
Crazy that you don't have more subs over here. Good video
You're an inspiration on many levels, Dan - Thanks for all you do!
Deamn... Congrats, you are a beast!!
💪👏
Well done Dan
This is awesome, im abit late to the party. I would love to see more of this. Great job man!
Grats for pulling through! 👏
Thanks Dan. An inspiration. Having failed, for a second time, to get a London Marathon place I'm looking for something heroic to do in April/March 2023,. Maybe an ultra is the way to go?
Congratulations Dan! Amazing video!
Incredible! Well done, Dan!!
This is going to be g.r.e.a.t.
Great video Dan, those routes look incredible. Well done!
Great job! Congrats on the culmination of a lot of hard work!
Congratulations Dan. You are inspirational
Thank you
Amazing stuff, Dan! Congratulations and well done 🤩
I’m in awe of your never give up spirit. I was sitting on the edge of my couch during your first run, willing you to keep going, to hang in there (not that it’ll do anything since you’ve already run, but I was caught up in the moment). What a journey to get there. Well done, Dan! Thanks for taking us along.
And this was some great editing, music, and voiceover work. Beautiful video.
Thanks Chris. I’m pleased it hit home for you 👍🏻
Well done Dan!
Absolute madlad. You’re an inspiration, Dan.
EPIC! Well done, your an inspiration
Awesome Dan! Congrats on finishing! This is creeping into my own list of goals 🤣
Great video-great stamina and determination. Well done Dan. A marvelous achievement.
Well done sir.
congrats, awesome effort
Awesome experience. I’m a bit behind you as I’ll only be doing my first marathons in 23 with the plan for trails and ultras in 24. Great work can’t wait to see more
Congrats! Hope to do HMdS one day too…
Absolutely amazing effort and what a stunning landscape
Dan, I admire people like yourself who push yourself to their limits. A friend of mine trained for, and successfully completed, a solo swim across the English channel. (Interesting useless factoid, more people have reached the summit of Everest than swum the channel)
Anyway, I use the same description for you as I did for him. In the nicest possible way you're as mad as a box of frog.
Keep up this channel and the SciManDan channel. 😀
Great run mate. Been in the pain cave myself quite a few time on ultras you smashed it!
I don't run and probably never will, but i know how it feels to accomplish something you've worked hard for. It's a damn fine thing to achieve.
I discovered you for the science and having a good laugh but I think ill stay for the running. Cheers from a fellow runner in canada!
Good for you Dan. What an absolutely amazing accomplishment!
Thanks Jason
Congratulations!
Thanks
Incredible effort Dan, great video too! So glad you stuck with it during the first stage 💪
Will you be doing a video about the kit etc you used for this at all?
Great job! What kind of sunnies are those?
What do I think?? I'll tell yah. Your insane and I envy you! Very well done!!😉 I was always a sprinter. I'd die in the 400! Lol. But a 4.4 40, at 6'4" height. Congrats! What an accomplishment!
What an amazing thing to do and a fantastic achievement. You should be proud of yourself as we all are of you. Also, great editing in this video to tell such an epic journey.
Thanks mate 👍🏻
These are such great videos. I’ve been a huge SciManDan fan for ages now, seen every video, and just recently got into these too. Fantastic film making and great content. Used to be a big runner myself and this is really inspiring to watch. Will wholeheartedly send people to this channel
Thanks for this Tom 😊
No problem, really nice to see how much you put into these with running being a true passion of yours. My partner is an ASMR content creator, but what she really loves are books. She’d love to do a channel about that, but has said it seems a bit daunting to try and start another channel from scratch. Seeing you do this is really encouraging for her in that way too, so that’s awesome. Looking forward to more videos on this channel for sure.
Well done Dan, superb effort! Have wathced your training videos with interest and was willing you on, especially on that first brutal stage. Looking forward to what you've got planned for 2023. Some great tough races up here in Scotland if you're interested, you've inspired me to enter a few in 2023 and would be great to see you there. All the best for your future endeavours in RunManDan and SciManDan.
I’d love to do Cape Wrath one day and Ben Nevis Ultra 👍🏻 Thanks
I love the editing and the voice-over storytelling aspect in this video. very captivating and entertaining. excellent video dan
Thank you 😊
Bloomin heck what a story, well done Dan! I’ve recently got into running and quite enjoying it. There’s absolutely no way I’d do something like this though LOL I will happily live vicariously through you so you better get signed up for the next desert race or the montane spine race! 😉
The spine? Ooph. Not quite yet lol
Congratulations on #1 Brit, this was a pretty cool race to watch and learn about .
Thank you 😊
I've just done Kielder marathon in UK, this looks incredible! Inspirational running Dan!
Thank you 😊 well done on Kielder 👍🏻
You should be so proud of your achievement like other subscribers to this channel I have followed your story from the beginning and the journey has been brilliant im really chuffed for you and you deserve a pat on the back we'll done
Thank you Graham 😊
That was an amazing experience Dan ! Thank you so much for sharing this with us !
I stopped training a few months ago because of my work that was very tiring (I work in the film industry doing 60+hours per week), and I have trouble getting to it again. Afraid that I lost the pace I had before, having to start all over again. I was training for La Diagonale des fous in La Réunion Island, but now it seems just impossible (can't imagine what MDS would be !!)
Do you have any tips as to how getting back to it ?
All the best to you !
Victor
sent by scimandan ;) well done matey
Ultras get in our blood and never let go. Congrats, mate! Solid run!
Don’t they just
Sci, I mean RunManDan, wow, beauty, brains and brawn! 👍🌊💙💙💙🌊🥰✌
Yeah, that's really impressive. Quite inspiring really, well done!
Thanks 👍🏻
@@runmandan7067 Even your camera was sweating at some points!
GodManDan you are an inspiration to my children and myself. Keep on keeping on my friend.
Sci man DAMN, man!
If you could explain to someone in one word what pushes you do your best, to not give up when everything in your body is telling you to stop, what would it be?
Awesome! The earth looks so flat from up there. 😄
This is the craziest race their is.
Ppl get lost in the dessert
Run Man Dan the movie.
Get those UTMB stones Dan and get yourself over to Chamony!
Working on it Pieter. Should be there 2024 👍🏻
@@runmandan7067 nice work. Currently training myself for half marathons but an ultra is on the schedule for 2024 and who knows what happens after that!
your first marathon was 2019? I had no idea.
BadassManDan 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Hi Dan, did I just see u in the Manchester marathon on northwest news?if not u have a doppelganger.
Not me I’m afraid
You should sing up for next year iron man here in Hawaii
I’m a bad swimmer and I don’t like cycling lol. Just running for me thanks. Any ultras in Hawaii?
How about Full Marathon Des Sables 2024?
No lol. For bigger fish to fry
@@runmandan7067 Really? OK.
Inspiering!!! Looks very flat! 😏🤩
hes taller than I imagined
He finds the time to do this AND still debunk idiots on the internet
23:15 TallManDan
I think that these ultra-marathons are bad for your body.
Congratulations Dan well done!!!
Epic! Congratulations! Absolutely loved the video and your account of your race. Nearly as challenging as making the Flat Earthers see reality :)!
