Converting from Evangelicalism to Catholicism was one of the best decisions I ever made, second only to asking Jesus into my heart. There is nothing like experiencing the fullness of the faith, being part of the church Christ built while he was here on Earth.

With Catholics - when it comes to pray you do all you can if you take it seriously. You Saints aren't merely people dead that were Holy but because they have already overcome the barrier of sin. One that is alive and holy - sure get them to pray for you aswell - it's quite often the elderly matriachs that do that (asking for eachothers prayers). If we want to become sin free - it is clear we must unite ourselves not only to Christ but to Our Blessed Mother Mary.

And what I mean by that is simply that it's a very Christian song that does a great job of putting what we believe and do as Catholics into such a clear context. Often, people ask for it for weddings, which is fine and very appropriate, but I often wonder how many of those requests come from an understanding that this song is about the Church, the Body of Christ.
but in the Catholic church Christ directly gives himself to us in the sacraments of the Eucharist. Christ loves all who call themselves his disciple, those who take up their cross and follow him. In the Catholic church however we directly receive Jesus in the Eucharist, pray to his Mother - Our Mother devoutly and have the succession of the apostles down to our modern church , the apostles of the 21st century. We pray for intercession, similar to asking a friend to pray for you. It has to be prayer, though, because they're dead and in Heaven! The RCC firmly condemns all idolatry, so if someone were to worship an icon, they'd be sinning. However, keeping icons around in remembrance is not a sin, much like if someone's spouse died and the living spouse kissed their picture every night and said goodnight. They know that the picture is merely an image, that it can't hear for the dead spouse.

as an ex protestant who has come back home(thanks in large part to ex protestant biblical scholar scott hahns books), I am amazed how pastors long held bias, taught by anti catholic teachers, is frankly, wrong. I have done deep dive exegetical works on Luther, Calvin and, I was stunned as to what they were spot on about and as importantly, how mistaken luther was on imputed righteousness(something many protestant scholars have dismissed). Bottom line, dont just listen to your pastor, priest, etc. Do a deep dive on your beliefs and a hard look at your deeply help bias too. You may be shocked as to what you uncover

We pray for intercession, similar to asking a friend to pray for you. It has to be prayer, though, because they're dead and in Heaven! The RCC firmly condemns all idolatry, so if someone were to worship an icon, they'd be sinning. However, keeping icons around in remembrance is not a sin, much like if someone's spouse died and the living spouse kissed their picture every night and said goodnight. They know that the picture is merely an image, that it can't hear for the dead spouse.

as an ex protestant who has come back home(thanks in large part to ex protestant biblical scholar scott hahns books), I am amazed how pastors long held bias, taught by anti catholic teachers, is frankly, wrong.
I have done deep dive exegetical works on Luther, Calvin and, I was stunned as to what they were spot on about and as importantly, how mistaken luther was on imputed righteousness(something many protestant scholars have dismissed).
Bottom line, dont just listen to your pastor, priest, etc. Do a deep dive on your beliefs and a hard look at your deeply help bias too.
