the lore in this game is even better than most fps games because they connect playing the game to also playing the game in a virtual world, whereas a game like valorant has lore, but then there is no reasoning behind the matches. here we see a reason- it's a gameshow. really smart decision by embark
I do strongly believe that Scotty and June being AI voices might actually be an intentional design choice. Not just a cheap solution to eliminating voice actors (background announcers behind S&J are real voices, and I believe contestants are too). I think they're sort of "in on it", and they're programs. I've heard a theory that says The Finals could be a simulation within a simulation, so, maybe.
I'm hype by the lore, the fact that they are AI voices in the game, but I still believe that Real Voice Actor would be even better. I understand that AI is cheaper, and easier if you want to implent voice line on the fly.
Maybe. That would mean that AI either need or want to eat & drink though which would be kinda weird. Scott mentions liking that OSPUZE drink in the new lore vignette, and June has a line when overtime happens about wanting to go get a snack.
Ngl I think Scotty is trying to do something behind the scenes as he’s saying “oh they’re not hacks, they’re glitches” maybe so June doesn’t suspect that he’s doing something
I remember how great were the Easter eggs in bf games and since a lot of embark are ex dice developers i hope we will see same level of complex and misterious Easter eggs in the finals too. Love this game

I find it interestling that in both of the S1 lore snippets we got, Volpe was featured (on this new one, it was just the logo displayed, which on the surface it means to me that the video is someone logging off the virtual space and that’s just the logo of the VR set, but I think there’s more to it) I think CNS may be warning us from whatever Volpe’s new product will be

I'm surprised you didn't mention Arc Raiders anywhere, as I believe The Finals is set within the Arc Raiders universe. I'm not sure how much we actually know about Arc Raiders lore but if there's stuff out there it is likely relevant.
It’s a popular theory that I too thought about initially, but I wanted to make sure that my theories had more concrete lore behind them. That’s why I focused on THE FINALS first. There’s tons of references of ARC Raiders in the game, but that’s all they are so far. Let’s see where it goes! EDIT: I also want THE FINALS and ARC Raiders to be in the same universe, just like Titanfall and Apex Legends.

There is nothing better than a good video about The Finals and a cafecito
i really hope later in the game we get an event where scotty gives it "one last try" in the arena where there he enters the game as a mech or just a normal default looking contestant not like our normal default looking ones but as an adaptation to what the contestants used to look like with no clothes just a basic vr avatar that glitches around the map causing hectic not just another low gravity event or a meteor shower giving us a little more clues on this lore...

FYI, 6:52 is a direct representation of the Commodore Amiga OS, not C64, indicating some of the founding members' previous affiliation with DICE and their roots in the Amiga demoscene in the early 1990s and beyond. And related to your CNS theory, in Cyberpunk (the old role-playing game from 1988), so-called "Netrunners" are physically plugged into the net and risk being hacked and "fried" by intruders or defending (firewall-like) apps.
Man, when i saw that "offline" video i was super upset. I finally got an hour free to play some and thought that was just a fun way to tell people the servers were down

I FIGURED SCOTTY OUT!!! basically there is a cut-seen where the finals is trying to get hacked but Odalia says "If they wanna get famous they'll have to compete in The Finals! Just like you Scotty." and there's a hidden achievement for winning a game without dying called "just like scotty" I believe that Scotty was a contestant that was so good that multico hired him, but in-turn he's stuck in the game. He was the best to ever play when he was around but, when his "fame" that they advertise every time you complete a round was finally fulfilled he got sucked into the companies. Although I don't know abt Odalia but, because of a bunch of other stuff I'm guessing that in order to keep the companies afloat they are using The Finals to get more people that are great at VR to make The Finals gameshow to; in-turn get more people to play, which gets more people found. Creating a true monopoly of human lives. I think scotty was one of the First people to be sucked into it, but i dont know if its all that time that made him "sketchy" or if they had to replace him cuz he tried something. idfk But that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY. ok but srsly the research for this stuff took several hours. :I
I think you should add a little music on the background when you talking or atleast sound effect because we can't focus on your word only (i do music theory if you add music you will be more pleasant to hear)
If the devs really want to do something never heard of, the VR world being the final (haha) place not completely under the control of some centralized authority, the place where people can still express some individuality, creativity, where their desires matter more than the designs of some centralized authjority for them, something that upset said central authority to the point that they're trying to control or destroy it by any means necessary might actually be a novel plot twist. After all, any time a new communication technology is introduced, there's a "wild west period" where those who control the previous communication techs try their hardest to sabotage and/or control it, and any and every underground subculture will flock to it as it's the one place that allows them some degree of permission to express themselves without heavy-handed repression...
Brain stimulating stuff as usual spear, tbh i've had a few thoughts as to why we don't know much about "legendary" contestants like Odelia and Scotty, tbh i feel like if u become as successful of a contestant as they did u become incredibly marketable where sponsors have a scary hold on you to the point of being able to sell ur physical likeness, maybe Scotty is cold towards us budding contestants because he knows what awaits those who make it big but can't say anything because of NDA's or legal consequences, or maybe he's in on it, all a plan to mass market contestants like Odelia and himself and CNS sees through him? I concur with the marketable side of things and definitely think Scotty is involved in it like you pointed out! It's very early to tell but it doesn't seem like CNS is going after him, but rather, calling him out so Contestants and the audience (we are both btw), question what's going on and try to dig deeper. We'll have to see!
One of the other messages was "One night three dawns", right? I think the 3 dawns could be in relation to like the dawn of someone's career in the finals. Like the bird lady (I forgor her name). The 3 dawns could he her and her team.

If you look closely, the Holtow logo is different ingame and on that weird hack cinematic Normally, the Holtow logo consists : one circle inside two pac-mans around it *but* On the new hack cinematic it has an additional pac-man on the bottom right . *Why is that ?*
The Embark Devs should add all of this Lore into the actual game so that everyone knows because I guarantee that there's only about 5% of the player base that knows the Story behind The Finals and what's going-on in the background !! If everyone knew, I think it would get a lot more players invested in the game or at least make them stick around longer than they would've normally. I think it's a cool story and I've only recently learnt just how deep they've made it.....Basically, I feel every player should know the story behind all games, why wouldn't you want to add it to your game, why would you only run it outside the game where limited people will see it, leaving most of the actual player base in the dark !?!?
I agree. I've been vocal about this since the Alpha, but Embark has stated that they will keep developing the lore - they just want to make sure the game is running properly beforehand. I'm sure we will get more, just a bit more patience. 😅

Listening to ur thoughts, I think I finally come to some sort of a theory: Since The Finals are set in the future, where capitalism rules and technologies are very advanced, what if June and Scotty are AI's or scans of their personalities (constructs)? But they don't realize it OR they do, but they don't care (I don't think that an AI would like to drink anything, but here we have Scotty drinking OSPUZE juice). Just think about it: it's more profitable for the Company to make an AI construct of people they need (Scotty as legendary contestant turned commentary and June as the one who controls arenas and events) then hiring actual people. About the Trickster (Odilia): I think wasn't popular like Scotty, but popular enough to sell her face and style (like come on, it's very fitting for some big company in order to maximize profits, even if the contestant is gone, to literally sell her.)
It pertains to the EE hunt. It's a GIF that we've inspected carefully in THE FINALS Discord server, and it has certain frames with some clues. The most prominent being "WE ARE CNS".
i really like how the game isn't subtle about its anti-capitalist stance. like honestly it's just as critical of it as cruelty squad without all the slopcoin

I love the way you've made the video, but you need to speak with conviction. I'm desperately trying to keep up with the words but it just feels like you're monologuing (I have pretty bad ADHD), speak with intent and emotion, use emphasis on the "important" bits, other than that great video!
Well you have seen people historically having a kinds dark coloured background to that matches their sinister motives or potential etc etc whuch jut cream "We're evil!". The colour themes present in the even those movie clips that you used in this video has em. But then again the colour them of Red, White and Blue have always been the banners of "knights in shining armor" whereas in actuality their false bravado hides a much greater evil in forming to beat the lesser and more transparent evil, that is when you compare appearances and ideologies. Now I'm not saying these are evil and good but for some context lemme give you some examples, Matrix, Player Number One, The Pixels that was colorful but it showed us the destructive potential of our once prized stuff is not always prized and moving on is essential else they'll consume us, The Hobbit, TLOR. Now to a more historical context simply put The Crusades as noble as they were claimed to be, the Crusades turned out to be really a blemish on European Christian history, fast forward we have The Nazis, we all know how stylish and transparent they were, they even had skulls on their caps with a weird symbolism that's a dark but stylish background with its evil roots hidden while it lasted, when Allies liberated Europe they found those camps and all of that, then we have the Cold War, Soviet Union and the West there you have another artistic interpretation if you ignore the historical coincidences to your interpretations. So yeah like those few, The Finals could be possobly using the colour and bright themes to hide something far more sinister, I mean when was the last time you saw the colour yellow being not dark with the story based background.

To me, players are prisoners who are forced to fight in the virtual arena to gain freedom and loot. the sponsors may be penitentiaries.

Yes, it’s a sound in-game for when you connect to Voice Chat. It’s also the sound for when you press the letter “K” while in the Credits section.

Listening to ur thoughts, I think I finally come to some sort of a theory:
Since The Finals are set in the future, where capitalism rules and technologies are very advanced, what if June and Scotty are AI's or scans of their personalities (constructs)? But they don't realize it OR they do, but they don't care (I don't think that an AI would like to drink anything, but here we have Scotty drinking OSPUZE juice).
Just think about it: it's more profitable for the Company to make an AI construct of people they need (Scotty as legendary contestant turned commentary and June as the one who controls arenas and events) then hiring actual people.
About the Trickster (Odilia): I think wasn't popular like Scotty, but popular enough to sell her face and style (like come on, it's very fitting for some big company in order to maximize profits, even if the contestant is gone, to literally sell her.)
The Finals takes places in a Black Mirror episode. I have no proof but I have no doubt.
Oh yeah! Black Mirror is also a classic example of this type of narrative.

I noticed the Holtow website is now flashing images but no one is talking about it. I don't know how to pause it to figure out what it says.
It pertains to the EE hunt. It's a GIF that we've inspected carefully in THE FINALS Discord server, and it has certain frames with some clues. The most prominent being "WE ARE CNS".

I love the way you've made the video, but you need to speak with conviction. I'm desperately trying to keep up with the words but it just feels like you're monologuing (I have pretty bad ADHD), speak with intent and emotion, use emphasis on the "important" bits, other than that great video!

Well you have seen people historically having a kinds dark coloured background to that matches their sinister motives or potential etc etc whuch jut cream "We're evil!". The colour themes present in the even those movie clips that you used in this video has em. But then again the colour them of Red, White and Blue have always been the banners of "knights in shining armor" whereas in actuality their false bravado hides a much greater evil in forming to beat the lesser and more transparent evil, that is when you compare appearances and ideologies. Now I'm not saying these are evil and good but for some context lemme give you some examples, Matrix, Player Number One, The Pixels that was colorful but it showed us the destructive potential of our once prized stuff is not always prized and moving on is essential else they'll consume us, The Hobbit, TLOR. Now to a more historical context simply put The Crusades as noble as they were claimed to be, the Crusades turned out to be really a blemish on European Christian history, fast forward we have The Nazis, we all know how stylish and transparent they were, they even had skulls on their caps with a weird symbolism that's a dark but stylish background with its evil roots hidden while it lasted, when Allies liberated Europe they found those camps and all of that, then we have the Cold War, Soviet Union and the West there you have another artistic interpretation if you ignore the historical coincidences to your interpretations. So yeah like those few, The Finals could be possobly using the colour and bright themes to hide something far more sinister, I mean when was the last time you saw the colour yellow being not dark with the story based background.
