I love this guy......it is so funny to see devs stepping out of their ivory towers and doing something hilarious. He just cracks me up and I love watching videos with him. I doubt this gem will be a blockbuster success but I hope we can send him a message that we love what he is doing and to please keep up the good work.

You know what makes me really happy? Every-time I check Steam and see this at the top of the Best Sellers, before it's even out.
I was a bit worried about this game not selling well but I think it'll do great.

I loved the old X-com even though I could never get past any significant part of the game. I kept trying over and over again. I mean over and over and over and over...
Original X-COM was (and sort of still is) the best game I've ever played. I still play it thanks to Steam, and replayed it within the past year. There aren't that many 18 year old games that people still talk about and still play. I'm getting my hopes up too much, but this new one looks to be the closest to capturing the gameplay of the original while giving it a 2012 update. Pre-ordered!!
I got this a week before official release.
XCOM 2 is now £12 with all DLC on the Nintendo switch.

It is surprise to see so much old gamers still remember X-Com after all these years. It is almost feel like this is an old folks game and it makes the feel like the old timers are coming back with bald head, big tummy, wearing glasses or casual wear and finally carrying a plasma gun then say...' lets kick some alien ass'.
The soul of XCOM has been there since the early 90s as one of the best strategy games of all times not a FPS

Probably you saw the old X-Com FPS trailer simply called "XCOM". It was another spin off from the original X-Com but in FPS genre. Right now it was rumored that the game is delayed and it will be released as digital download only.
The original X-Com is always a strategy game at heart. Since they released for the first time. Search videos for X-Com: UFO Defense.
If I was there Jake...I would have given you a giant hug for bringing back XCOM, then steal your copy and run away!!!

As for XCOM... awesome game. My GOTY for 2012 so far, I just can't get enough of it.
Ironman Mode is where it's really at, it offers a sense of suspense that all the big blockbuster action games just can't offer.
That's the bit that really got me. I cracked up.
This made my day rofl, of all the game devs I ever seen in my soon 2 decades of gaming, none has ever been so funny and awesome. I am nearing the point where I would buy this game purely cause of this dev lol. Thankfully the dev is as awesome as the game looks like!

If anyone at 2K knows their Marketing Consumer Decision Journeys, I want you to know this video has made me move from 'awareness' to 'consideration'.
The Console and PC games were developed separately. So they are essentially two different games. I feel that it is quite a robust game, without being overly saturated with features and complexities.

Dude you can see in the trailers that it's a squad based shooter. He even says you get to kill aliens in this.
I just finished another playthrough of the original X-Com and went straight to Terror from the Deep to prepare myself for the game. I'm pretty sure I'm ready for classic ironman, bring it on :D
I just hope it comes out for mac some time soon. I spent so much time playing that thing. Definitely one of the best games ever made.

Did you ever see the trailers for the XCOM game? It was a shooter with a cool 1950s motif, now they made it into a 'future warfare' game. They sucked the soul out of it.

$110-120 is RRP for new console games in Australia, not sure where this video was made.
That is some serious hustling.
To be fair it is one of the finest strategy games ever made.
Besides a couple of flaws in the original (not being able to open doors before walking right in and getting shot by an alien, et al.) it's a fantastic strategy, management game that is unforgivingly hard.
I'll admit, i've ragequit XCom: UFO Defense more than a couple of times in the last few weeks because sectoids have killed my fully armoured out squaddies through some stroke of bad luck.
But you always go back to xcom.
Always.
HOLY SHIT POWER GAMER this place is fucking awesome.
I would have run straight at him, screaming like a school girl, and worshipped the ground yelling "Sid Meier, you are my hero."
