Have a nice time in the land of Greeks 💙🤍💙
Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this beautiful comment!❤️🙏
love watching your content! I will be moving to Greece, Evia island, next year when I retire! Thank you for sharing your journey!!
Welcome to Evia, gorgeous beaches.I try to enjoy in summer when heavy winds from Aegean calm down.😂Now we have heatwave.
as a Greek, I want to thank your friends very much for their kind words
Thank you for watching and leaving this beautiful comment! 💙🙏 I'm sure they will appreciate it!❤️
But the rent and cost of living for Greeks go up while the salaries do not increase enough when a lot of foreigners buy much property whether they are from the EU and all the golden visas the government has handed out for quite low investments. Greece is repeating Cyprus mistakes and soon they can not afford living in their own country. I just went to Milos. No Greek tourists there anymore but euro 400/night studios. Not in Mykonos, not in Santorini, monotony in Paros but in Milos….
Love you guys!!!
You're the best ambassadors of my country!! keep it that way!!
Greetings!!
Thank you very much for such nice words 😊 🙏💙💙. Where are you watching us from?
Thank you for appreciating Greece and Greeks. Very very quickly you will integrate fully, as you come here respectfully and wanting to adopt (the good parts at least!) Greek culture and way of life. You will find all your interactions with the Greek state extremely difficult, though, be prepared!
Retiring in Crete early next year. Bought a house near Kalyves. Looked all over from east to west but decided on the Kalyves area. The property we were looking for finally presented itself. Your videos are interesting and have a good amount of humor. We really have enjoyed them so far. I hope you have a lot of success with them. Watching from Southern California.
Thank you for watching, and hello California 🇺🇸 👋 💙💙. Kalyves is a nice area, you made the right choice 😀. But what made you choose Greece to be the place to retire?
@@Sunpire , well was seriously considering Calabria, Italy and actually had an offer on a property near Tropea. However, it became extremely frustrating and had to end up backing out. Then started looking into Greece, made a few trips there and really loved the people, culture, food and especially the weather (sunny, dry and overall good weather and not overrun with bugs). I guess the weather is a lot like Southern California. Also, the golden visa was a good option for permanent residency. So started looking some of the different islands and the Peloponnese. Settled on Crete as I thought it was the best option with multiple airports, self-sufficient island, good medical options, great beaches, food and I'm retired from the Navy so liked the fact there is a Navy Base in Souda Bay. I like to swim, so love the calm water. Also, I like the history of Minoan civilization. After finding the house and getting it under contract, the buying process was very easy and completed in 3 months. The hardest part was getting time off to go back and forth deciding where to live and finding a right property.
Thank you so much for sharing! 💙🙏 this is very helpful for other people considering moving to Greece! We wish you good luck with your move and all the best!😊
Hi, great choice on location, lived in Kalyves for over 13 years. Have just moved out a bit further near Vamos, not the same amount of facilities, but a lot quieter life. Still go to Kalyves a few times a week for supplies and to sit in platiea to watch the traffic chaos in tourist seaon 😁
Must learn the language number one priority so you can interact with people, I have a Greek friend from work an aeronautical engineer with a wife from England living in Greece I don't know 30 years and she hardly speaks, or trying to speak Greek she even answers the phone in English I have no respect of that if you consider that all Greeks sent our kids to learn a second or even a third language to our kids. You are going to get buy with English because people are friendly but for how long?
This is one factor that I would have had real problems with had I been able to move to Greece decades ago. A lot of us do have problems with foreign languages because of their grammatical complexity compared with English. I failed to learn French, Spanish, and Latin despite trying my hardest with Spanish.
@@carlgrove8793 You have to start with the basics at the bakery for instance, kalimera ( good morning), thelo ( I whant) mia ( one ) franjola ( loaf ) psomi ( bread) . At the Cafe for axample kalimera thelo ena ( one) fretto capuchino, and so on you build up with each new word you learned your vocabulary and interaction with locals by a little more at a time.
Well, if you really want to learn a language you have to attend actuall classes, with a certified teacher who can teach you grammar and vocabulary. Brits tend to relly solely on learning useful phrases and then trying to build upon that, which is next to impossible.
great to see you are making new friends 😄
Thank you for watching! 🙏 Yes! We're glad we met this beautiful family! We're surrounded by many kind people here!💙
Guys since you live to Akrotiri, go to Mitsos. The best meat you will ever taste.

What are income taxes like in Greece?
I’ve heard that they can be very high.
Great ideea to make a video about this topic 👏 👌 👍🏻. We will do this in the future!
@@Sunpire I guess taxes are relative to where you come from. For property taxes in California, I was paying $8000 USD per year for a property I bought for $420,000. In Greece, my property tax was 250 Euros for the year and my property was not exactly an inexpensive property. I think my income tax was 200 Euros as I'm currently renting the property. However, for my retirement income, I'm able to claim it in US and pay US tax rate on it verses claiming it in Greece. I have a tax guy in Greece that handles my Greek property and income taxes and deal with it as it is kind of complicated.
If you have a steady income around 2.5K or more Greece is heaven...(i don't have it 😢😢😢)
@@Sunpire 4k per month is more than enough for a family ❤️. So that you don't hesitate to go on a trip,or dine out a few times a month, or pick up an activity etc. Most Greek families live with under 3k a month.
Thank you for replying! ❤️There are many people asking about this. It's very helpful !
Greece is clean 😂? Oh maybe i live in another greece
I think it has places where it is clean and where it's not. Where we live is clean 💙💙. Where are you watching us from?
Haven't been there yet, but we will probably go soon. We have been only in the airport, and from our point of view, the airport is nice 💙💙
@@Sunpire i work at the airport and believe me DONT eat anything which is not prepacked . Now athens is a peculiar city because unlike other cities like Paris which the center is glamorous and expensive only lawyers and Doctors live there and the working class lives at the subs at Athens is the opposite in the town center only tourists and working lower class lives there and the people with the money are at places like glyfada and kifisia and that makes the city unheeded by authorities
They don't want to move to Greece
Now Michael mosley
Has gone missing.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but if you go out on foot without a hat in this heat, and are sick as his wife said, then it's your own fault. The English are nothing special. We come from Germany and have always vacationed in Turkey. We went to Greece once and immediately fell in love with the country and the people. We have been living in Greece for two years and are happy.
Too expensive, not organized, dirty. Everything works by chance. The kingdom of bureaucracy and corruption. Better to move in New Zealand. The most beautiful and organized county.
