Bwahaha! I expected that to suck, but... it was genuinely amusing.
This is an amazing game. So much fun and genuinely difficult. The story is so interesting too! Things like the Kraken fight, being shrunk and fighting the chess army, and oddler betraying you are all so interesting and fun! What a gem!!!!
One of my all time favorite games. Parents bought me this game for Christmas back in the nineties, fell in love with it. Love what you guys do! Greats foundation you are supporting!
Finding streams like this of the shining force games makes me so happy ❤️ growing up playing these games so much, and happy to see there’s a community of others like myself who have continued to enjoy the game over the years!
That bit at 2:32:11 almost broke me as a kid. I could not figure out what to do with the tree for so long. From memory I think you also have to approach it from below before you can activate it? Whatever the issue was, I only hired the game and I desperately wanted to finish it, and I was going nuts because I couldn't proceed. I still remember the joy felt when I randomly figured it out.
god i got stuck too for ages, managed to figure out the Pressing A to SEARCH instead of C which is 'USE/talk'part but i legit reset the game and started over coz of it , i was so satisfied when it worked coz i knew it did, but this was kinda pre internet so i couldn't find out.
and don't forget to talk the major 3 times for the boat ;)
The musical numbers! YES!
Never played this one but I noticed that they talked about the wolfman character in this game as the complete opposite of Zylo. When Zylo joins in SF1 he's one of the strongest on your roster, and his terrain bonus works really well with the upcoming battles.
Shining friends seems to be my long lost fam. I need to look in to shining community.

I was searching for my next RPG game to play - had some good contenders but nothing that really hooked me. Saw this and now I know - Shining Force II, for sure.

Why is ''Shanking Old Lady's in the Woods" not a highlight? More speedruns should have musical numbers.
Love what you guys do, and SF2 is one of my all time favorite games! I unfortunately found out that this con was happening a week after it ended. I am from SLC and would have loved to come out to support you guys!
Rather than equipping and un-equipping the power ring all the time, is it worth grinding Peter up a few more levels in the Fairy Woods before promotion? I would love to know the time differences for an extra two levels versus the equipment management.

That bridge fight with the worms is pretty similar to the laser eye fight from shining force 1. Not in the sense of the laser eye (the prism flowers are the real laser eye fight) but in the sense of where the battle is located in the world map and how you fight in that battle. I like the little similarities between the games

This game whooped my ass after a kid. Took me a long time to figure out where to go after killing the Kraken. Then another long time to get past Odd-Eye.

5:22:00-5:22:08 There's another difference between the red baron and the other barons. The red baron can autorevive after battle, just like Peter, because Lemon is apparently some kind of vampire (some npc mentions that). You can see it between 5:42:04-5:42:56 when Lemon gets killed in battle, isn't revived after egressing but is fine when the party reenters the battle. And they actually mention it it in 5:47:10 so now I'm confused. If you know that, isn't it obvious why they gave him a different class?
My theory.....is that they needed Lemon to auto-revive (almost PHNX like, even), so that ... just in case you had Lemon in the party at the last battle against Zeon (or whenever), and you CHOSE to not revive LEMON at the Church....then....who would make the heroic sacrifice to take Zeon/King Galam away...? I mean...maybe it would have been cooler if Bowie "pulled a Max" (who actually some fans have theorized him to be perhaps a Great Uncle or some slightly distant relative to Bowie....I think the Shining Force Wikia / Moogie says this...). ? Having beaten SF:LGI when I was 7, and beaten SF II when I was 9, that would have left even a greater impression on me than the first one did..idk? What do you guys think? It would surely be cool....in any case.... :D

I just have 2 questions...1st how do you know which item does what, I never have been able to find where to read it, 2nd how did you rename all the characters???
RAZORlukic As far as renaming all the characters, can't it be done by inserting the "secret code" while the Sega logo is scrolling across the screen? I know Shining Force Central and other sites tell how to do this......I know I've done it, but only on an actual SEGA cartridge, not a ROM....

Makes sense lol. I once got everyone to lvl 30 then promoted them by grinding in that forest. Everyone becomes a beast by doing that I'd say. But for speed runs this was cool
Is Kiwi worth it in the long run? The usual game trope is that the harder they are to level/power up the more worth it they are late game.
kiwi is amazing in the long run. sure he's weak in his first form the turtle but as soon as you promote him he becomes a tank that can go though enemies i got kiwi up to level 15 promoted and he solod the final boss
Not really. Early on, he has insane defence, but low HP. His defence remains high, but other characters eventually catch up whereas Kiwi's HP remains abysmally low.

Shining Force 2... oh you mean the best game in all of creation. I dont speedrun but wonded if there's a strat for soloing Sarah.
You could literally place Bowie in front of Sarah on battle 2 and heal him taking one hit, heal, rinse and repeat to level 40. Wait for elven village for her promotion item. Super OP broken Sarah.

Which version allows you to name every character?
Any version of the game allows this. It's a sort of 'New Game Plus' feature, when you have a file that is marked as completed on the game, hold start when naming Bowie, and the options for the others appear.
Again, great video guys....I have heard of NAMI before and did not know that ...idk...you support NAMI with your videos? Or how do that work? Really interested and wonder if I can help out or do something similar/different on my own....I am a BIG RPG / SEGA fan. LoD speedruns do exist, but they are painfully long, ~12 hours for a likely marathon estimate (WR is 10h53m). I believe it has been offered and seriously considered, but finding room to fit such a long speedrun when it isn't immensely popular (i.e. an FF or DQ game) is difficult, but there is always a chance it will be in someday

Ouch is a bugged difficulty. It doesn't work as intended so is only as hard as Hard mode. Super is actually the hardest difficulty in the game.

Rules are rules. It may seem dickish but it does maintain some order to it. And also they usually DO have "end of event" prizes where the donation from start to end of event does stack. But they can't do that for all of them cause that'd be a unrealistic amount of time the Volunteers would have to sink in just to try and keep track of them all. This isn't gdq where they only take $5 or more. RPGLB is great because if you literally only have $1 to donate they will still take it happily for the great cause they support

Its not a TAS. Its a movement glitch. Bowie explains this around 41 minutes into the run.
Simmionla Tas would not be able to do that, Tas can put in inputs every frame and manipulate luck no cheating
