That is probably the best overview of the word of faith theology I have ever heard and I have been acquainted and raised with it for 20+ years. The Worldview approach really works in mapping out a doctrinal view that does not have a clear statement of faith. Well done, Dr Stenhammer. Brilliant work.

Hi Prince, Thanks so much for taking time to watch this video and responding. I'm particularly glad to hear when people find the worldview lens helpful as it helped me see how things connected at a deeper level than I'd seen before using other perspectives. Especially since you have had such a long exposure to the Word of Faith, I'd be happy to hear more of your comments and questions when you have time.

Hi Daniel! That's the first time I've been called that. And I like it :) Jokes aside, thanks for taking time to go through this and responding. It is not always the perspective of metanarrative falls in good ground because it forces many to think outside their theological box which often is made up of cognitive doctrinal statements (though those are not wrong as such). To get the perspective of story enlarged my vision not just of the Word of Faith but of the Bible in general.

Wow!!!! This is perhaps the finest and most comprehensive examinations of WOF theology I have ever seen! Love your motif analysis! That is EXCELLENT!!!!
While I don’t follow Remnant Radio’s channel, I did see the title and it caught my attention. Loved your interview and I am glad I decided to check out your videos! Again, this is GREAT!
I am a former Word of Faither, followed primarily Kenneth Hagin from circa 1973-1982. Although from 1977 on I had one foot out the door. I had several things that were bothering me, most of them you mentioned. But the one that got me the most was “revelation” knowledge. I could see it was a form of Gnosticism.
I was briefly a part of Rhema’s second class. At that time, they were at Sheridan Assembly because they didn’t have their own campus yet. I didn’t graduate, praise the Lord.! At that time, I followed of course Hagn but also all the proteges, such as Copeland, Price, Hayes, Capps etc. I once met Charles Capps and talked to him for about 20 minutes or so. Also read all of E W Kenyon’s books and all the others Hagin mentioned or recommended at the time.
Recently, I looked at Hagin’s book “I Believe in Visions”, and I have written my own book about the contradictions and distortions in that work. I look forward to getting and reading your work soon. All the best to you and I will be checking out your other videos!
Again, I absolutely love this video!!!!

Hi, thanks so much Knight in Green Cloth (!) for watching and responding. I found that approaching the Word of Faith through this perspective of a worldview with a big story and using a narrative analysis to dissect it was like finally getting the picture for all the loose puzzle pieces that I had but didn't know how to fit them together. It's great to hear that you found it helpful too. I'm very curious to hear more of your insights and experiences as I'm sure you have a lot to share. I'm interested in your book too. If you have time, please send me the information about the book on my email liberatingfaith@gmail.com

I've watched this one like 4 times. Soo on point!
One thing I noticed in the communities I'm familiar with is that, within the "competing narratives" is the idea that 'other' believers are also helpers to The Believer, and the Believer is receiving from God, the world, and other believers. So other believers are either divine destiny helpers or distractions or hindrances from the enemy. And this can cause a lot of confusion and tensions in relationships, and even a transactional relationship among believers as they have with God.

    • @liberatingfaith
      @liberatingfaith  Před rokem +1

Wow! I've never seen that as clearly as you put it. Yes, so, so true. It is sad and it also shows why often WoF theology hinders deeper and self-giving relationships. I usually looked at it as a form of consumerism where relationships are also taken up in the process of commodification and then consumed these for their own end. I have also seen in some areas, more in Africa, how this can turn very dark when a relationship is blamed as the satanic hinderance to one's prosperity and success! Please keep on sharing your insights. Blessings!

@@liberatingfaith YES!💯 though raised in the US, I was born in Africa. I've experinced the WOF through both cultures. And yes, there was a bigger "witch-hunt" culture in the African wof churches here in the US as well. I really appreciate this ministry. Please keep the teachings coming 🙏🏾

That's really interesting to hear! Thanks for sharing. From my more limited experience than yours, I also see the same problem. It seems that WoF doesn't offer many of the necessary tools for proper discernment. I appreciate the encouragement. I hope to get around doing some more content in the weeks to come. @@nforlu

💦💖💦The true Prosperity Message you will find in Joshua 1:8 in the Word of God. Joshua 1:8: This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe (obey) to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. James 1:22: But be doers of the word (obey the Word), and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 💡💦💡Working, saving, investing, producing, creating, buying, selling, and trading are all natural elements to bring money into your hands. Reading God's Word, meditating on God's Word, obeying God's Word, confessing God's Word, living Holy, praying, and fasting are what you do spiritually in conjunction with the natural elements of making money that will help make you become prosperous and successful. God will always honor His Word over your life, but you have to work your faith and live your life pleasing unto God!

Hello, Mikael! This is the Knight in my real name. I sent you an email to explain why I had to use the Knight channel so hopefully this works this time in my name. I tried all day yesterday and I am still trying today, let’s see if this finally works! I also sent you information about my book. The primary focus of the book is on Kenneth Hagin but along the way I share bits and pieces of my story.
What I love about your big story view and narrative analysis reminds me of the books I read by Joseph Campbell several years ago. That’s not an endorsement of his ideas or conclusions. But he did do a great job of breaking down various famous narratives. So, I see a similar breakdown in your analysis. And I find it very helpful! And indeed, you did an excellent job of fitting all the pieces of the puzzle together!
I am one of those who was shipwrecked by the WOF teaching. In the past few years, I have worked to get myself back into the race so to speak. I consider myself a concerned layman when I look across the theological landscape of today. And I want to do what I can to help others who got lost and tangled up in the WOF movement

Hello Steven, thanks so much for this. Your comments are welcome under whatever name 😁
I'm very glad that you found the narrative analysis helpful and thanks for pointing out Joseph Campbell to me. Entering the dimension of narrative/story in theology has been of great help in seeing the bigger picture and to, like you say, make the pieces fit.
I'm also glad to hear that you are moving on in faith despite your previous frustrations. God bless you for moving onward.

Knowing some of your doctrinal beliefs I don't agree with you on everything but this video and cutting through the noise of what ties all these teachers together and where their worldview breaks down is very beneficial. I hope you channel continues to grow so that others may be blessed.

I understand the Bible the completion of restoration or Eden Redeemed in the return of Jesus when he restored heaven and earth. Romans 8 says there is groaning.. It is to be revealed the sons of God. We still get sick on the earth now till that time. Paul the apostle still experienced lack, he says in book of Philippians.
