Definitely liking the prehistoric forms much more. Just love their designs, but the futuristic volcarona is also very awesome. I love how with the wings levitating separately from its body it appears like the sun with shining rays.

I like Slither Wing more. Truly my only regret with picking Violet. But Volcarona is always cool even as a robot, so I'm fine with that. I'm happy enough that it's one of the few pokemon that got to have both forms.
With the names of the past forms, I always interpreted the meaning of their names being like how early humans would call creatures like this during a time when proper naming and categorization of species wasn't invented yet. Kinda like how in Land Before Time, the dinosaurs all call each other by nicknames based on their physical appearance rather than their species name, like Long Necks, Three Horns, Fliers and Sharp Teeth and such. Same sorta thing here, and it made the past forms all the more fascinating to me.
With the future forms though, as much as I like them, there's something about them that makes them seem kinda depressing (in a deep, slightly horrific way), and it stems from when you think about exactly what they are in relation to their names. Unlike the past forms names that come from a basic understanding of what a new creature looks like, the names of the future forms give off the idea that, in the distant future, Pokemon are seen as little more than utilities to be used rather than their own beings, so much so that they've been retrofitted into being literal robots, forever ensuring that they'd be seen as and referred to as nothing more than tools or weapons. It's the kind of future that N in Black and White would've feared that Pokemon would become had he and pre-twist Team Plasma not stepped in.

I love the detail they put in the names. People in the past tends to name creatures based on their body description while modern people tends to be straightforward cause it's efficient
These titles for names are also emphasizing on the fact we don't really know much about the paradox Pokémon and that they're named after what the old books/doubious magazines have called them.
"Straightforward" because no one understands what the name was suppose to mean.

Magikarp was one of the first pokemons to cite the past in its pokedex, its entry in fire red says, "In the distant past, it was a little stronger than the horribly weak descendants that exist today." That description alone makes me think of a high probability that we will have a magikarp paradox in the future. After all, we know how much nintendo loves kanto (read money through nostalgia).

@@primecreator5257 Things aren't the best because they are iconic, that's literally what nostalgia bait is. Getting money by using things that are iconic. And other than being iconic, Gen 1 doesn't really have anything going for it. Sure, it has good designs, but most of them are middling at best and all the games have at least a few gems. The actual games suck, which isn't their fault, they're just old. And being the original, it's not like they introduced anything new. In fact, gen 1 probably has the most different systems as compared to any other generation than any other game. No items, abilities, special stat split, physical special split, no dark steel or fairy, no box art legendaries, etc.

Well tbf megas are supposed to be a pokemons primal power released and given form, Groudon and Kyogre are even named as such, so it makes sense their mega forms resemble their ancient forms
It suddenly makes sense why R. Moon and I. Valiant have twenty points more in their BSTs compared to the other average Paradoxes, and why they serve as the Ace of a certain Trainer. No idea why I never noticed sooner. 🤦♀️
One thing to note is that Iron Valiant is actually supposed to be a mixture of both gardevoir and gallade. The blades are gallades but the hairband dress are gardevoirs. It also got rid of the psychic typing, but kept the 2 types that differentiated the 2, being fighting and fairy. And instead of being able to learn play rough, it keeps a high Special Attack and learns moonblast, a move gardevoir is known to have
One more thing to mention, its cry is also a combination of both of their cries
Another thing to add is the fact that Iron Valiant, like Roaring Moon, has heavy resemblance to the respective Pokémon's mega Evolution.

I think it's hilarious that Violet gets all the robotic-looking future 'mon, meanwhile Scarlet looked at Magneton (one of a few ACTUAL robot 'mon!) and thought "...caveman!"
I think it's pretty clever, to be honest. Plus, Magneton is established to have existed as early as 3000 years before Pokémon XY, so who knows what it actually is.

The way both the Prehistoric and Futuristic Paradox Pokémon have comparatively slower battle stance animations paints them both in a different light from modern contemporary Pokémon: the prehistoric ones having slower stances makes them look like vicious beasts just waiting for the chance to pounce and maul you to death, and the futuristic ones having slower stances makes them look like cold and calculating killing machines.

The primal beasts of the past vs the robotic symbiotic meldings of the future. I think the past has my vote but the fact that we now have what are basically cybernetic infused pocket monsters is still pretty dang cool! I think we are going to see positives and negatives in terms of these "paradox" Pokemon by design, battle, and lore in equal measure. Neither really either better than the other in every respect.

I noticed that the cries of Paradox Pokemon are almost identical to the original, with the addition of a certain sound effect starting at the middle of the default cry (horns for ancient Pokemon, wooden clack noises for future Pokemon)
Also, the idle animations of Paradox Pokemon move a lot less than their present-day counterparts.
The past forms seem to have this howling at the end of their cry while the future forms have a sort of clinking and clanging sound

It's so nice to see that Misdreavus got some love. I've always liked it more than Mismagius. This "Flutter Mane" form is really neat, plus it has dual typing. By far my favorite.

The attention to detail in the cries. There's a distinctive sound for past and future Pokémon much like Ultra Beasts in Gen 7.

i’ve been going back and forth between the two games but i think i have to choose scarlet. the violet designs are so incredibly cool but the pokemon don’t really feel like they’re living breathing animals. i like that in scarlet they just look like enhanced versions of the pokemon instead of mechanical versions

I like that they showed the hyper-efficiency of the past and future forms by having them stand completely still and not move a muscle. GF has truly honed their craft over the years.
I overall like the past forms better than the future ones. The past versions seem like more savage versions of existing Pokemon and you can kinda see how they might've developed into what they eventually became. How their survival strategies evolved and changed as time went on. Slither Wing and Sandy Shocks gaining flight, Roaring Moon gaining more usable limbs, Scream Tail adapting its screaming to singing, etc.
The future forms however are all just robot versions of existing pokemon with no real new adaptions or traits beyond being metallic, and they aren't even steel type! They look less like the pokemon adapted and changed survival strategies and more like someone built robot versions based on existing Pokemon who didn't change at all in the far future. The exception being Iron Valiant who, by merging traits of Gardevoir and Gallade along with their mega forms at least looks like it diverged from the present day versions beyond just "being a robot". Iron Thorns looks pretty cool. Though for some reason I find Iron Treads to just be disturbing to look at, same for Iron Bundle's detachable head.

Having more unique silhouettes is ironically much less functionally distinct at this level…but because it’s also more overt, everybody overlooks the rest.
I actually have a theory that the Pokémon are from a future where another giant Pokémon war happened, leaving the world in a desert-like hellscape. The remaining humans fled underground, nearly all Pokémon went extinct except for a few. Using the few pokemons dna (because of how many Pokémon there are, a few is like 150) they made new Pokémon to help them get good and search, they had to make Pokémon nearly entirely robot so 1: they wouldn’t die, atleast not for centurys and 2: so they could survive the harsh weather. They also needed to put cameras in them so they could see what was outside. Iron treads rolls on its trunk thing to get across the landscape easily, iron valiant is used to sample stuff from the outside world and also to take down and get dna from any Pokémon that could’ve survived up there so they could make improved forms. Iron thorns are used as shields whenever the human bunkers get under attack ect ect.
Nah if anything I think the future paradoxes are far more interesting in an existential dread sort of way. The implication that something happened in the future to cause all organic Pokémon to be converted into machines, either machines mimicking Pokémon or the Pokémon having to be transformed entirely into iron constructs. Maybe Pokémon went extinct entirely in the future and mankind tried to revive them with technology in the only way they knew how. Yet these machines are functionally exactly the same as Pokémon, they have types, movesets, and even still retain personalities. It’s really interesting in a bleak distant dystopian future sort of way
I sure hope we get more of these as DLC, a past and future Dragonite would be REALLY COOL.
Past Suicune and Future Virizion have been teased and they seem to be fusions of them and the other 2 in their trio but with an ancient/future spin

I really like both forms however when it comes to shinies, Scarlet nails it. I know Violet is more futuristic and has more of the bland-still designs, however the shinies just makes it more robotic-y than anything else, though it sells on its future and robotic look, it fails at being as cool shinies. Especially with Miraidon, changing its cool and slick purple to a though cool silver, makes it look honestly bland like the others, the only exception for me is Future Volcarona and Tyranitar, but that is it. With Scarlet, It really brings more vibrant colors, and shows that its different but the same in a way as referencing of course the past, and Kiraidon has honestly the best shiny in existence. The charcoal black and white with the hint of fire really brings out how cool it is, especially with Salamence and Jigglypuff, its exceptional and honestly really brings out emotions on a Pokemon. Don't get me wrong, Both forms are amazing, I just wish Violet had more vibrant colors on their shinies instead of being just, "yeah its a robot." it makes their original shinies look like a joke.

I honestly think Miraidon's shiny is still the better looking one than most of future form pokemon. That slick silver with faded purple & yellow is really a great match up tbh. Doesn't feel that bland at all to me.

I’m a massive fan of Slither Wing, but Iron Thorns definitely has to be my favorite paradox pokemon, especially its shiny form. The plain silver color used on all future paradoxes looks amazing on iron thorns, and perfectly matches the satisfying turquoise color of its highlights. Plus it’s Pokémon’s MechaGodzilla, it looks fantastic

While I’m not really into Pokémon that much, I love that my favorite Pokémon Tyranitar got a futuristic variant as I’m really into futuristic stuff as well.
And considering how Tyranitar was inspired by Godzilla, it's cool how its future form resembles Mecha Godzilla.

I love the Iron Valiant the most out of all of them! This Gardevoir Gallade fusion is by far the best for me! The mixed typings of the two, Fairy and Fighting is just a cool detail, and what would be better for the Gardevoir Gallade fans is if they'd catch one with a Psychic Tera. It's a really sick design genuinely. I love it!
I actually got psychic tera shards to give my Iron valiant a psychic tera type. It's cool but I ended up regretting it since I do less damage in raids than having fairy. Still cool though.

I remember someone hacked an older pokemon game that has a kind of studio in one of its story stage, that features a parody character and some of them are futuristic Pokémon. Here we are now seeing them in new game.

Koraidon and Miraidon instead take it a step further with a heavy drum beat and high-pitched whirring respectively, perhaps demonstrating their status as "advanced", or "Major Legendary" Paradoxes in comparison to their rest of their brethren.
These end of cry sound effects also double as yet another parallel to the Ultra Beasts, including Cosmog's Line and Necrozma, all of whom had a deep metallic ringing at the end of their cries.
Loving this concept of otherworldly or "extroverse" Pokémon groups entering the normal world and finding new lives there alongside the Protagonists. Hope there will be more Ultra Beasts and Paradoxes in the future. Great video!

I was surprised that I actually like the future forms overall better than the past forms. I typically like prehistoric stuff more than I do futuristic stuff, but man do I love the future forms' designs, their head honchos (Miraidon and Iron Valiant), the fact that even though all of them are robotic not all of them are part steel or part electric, and quark drive (I already have a sun team, so getting electric terrain some better viability to me was more fun.) I still really like the past forms though.

Definitely an unpopular opinion: I like the future forms' shinies.
That doesn't mean I don't like the shinies of past forms, but I appreciate what they're going for here, however lazy it is.
So basically, I see that it's not just "because they're robots so metallic paint should be here", it's also an idea of being efficient. It's basically the idea is that those Pokemons are massively produced, so only their "weapons" or "core" (that are most likely of pure energy or something like similar) and the thing that tells their type remain, since those parts have always been this color when installed unto the body(or chassis cuz it sounds cool :p). Of course, we're not talking about humans doing the production, they would definitely put colors on them, no, it's all something an AI would do to preserve time with efficiency. It's definitely lazy because there's way more things you could do with colors that would be cool(Like, I can see some of them with a rusted color palette), so slapping the same one across all mons is just shooting your own foot, but this is also why I kinda like them. I like that idea of what's essentially Terminator Pokemons. We've only got Genesect as something like that and it's a cyborg.
Now, I don't think Game Freak should have something similar in the future, because it is ultimately lazy as I said multiple times, and you don't have to agree with me, I understand why you like having actual color on shinies. I personally like it, and that's fine.

I think iron valiant is the future form for both gallade and gardevoir, its design and even cry resembles both of them, also its typing is like a mix between the two

My only wish was that past Amoongus had the red and white colorations but not in the specific pokeball pattern. It would make a lot of sense if the pokeball pattern evolved overtime from a nondescript pattern

Unpopular opinion: I really love the future forms. Only amplified my choice to get Violet. Though admittedly, I won't be shiny hunting for them. The only future shinies I like are Iron Thorns and Miraidon.

Although I'm a Scarlet girl through and through, bloody love Iron Valiant. They fact they didn't choose but instead merged Gardevoir and Gallade together. Nice! Wish they did something similar in Scarlet.

Scarlet and violet seemed to really want to try to be a better version of sun and moon. The new Quartet essentially being the Tapus, the Paradox mon being the Ultra Beasts, hell we even have new types of regional forms that are their own Pokémon in convergent forms (stuff like Wiglett). Not to mention event the new point of the legendary is to “power it up” kinda like how you had to “power up Nebby to evolve” in the sun and moon story.
The new quartet is based on the Chinese Perils, like how the Therian Forms of the Forces of Nature are based on the Chinese Cardinals.

I’d say this is better because Sun and Moon was incredibly hand holdy to you, while Scarlet and Violet lets you go around and do whatever you want.

I think they killed it with both Volcarona forms, although I'm a fan of Volcarona in general, so I'm biased. Over all, I think the past forms are better as well.
The future ones are all smaller for no reason. "But a lot of creatures evolve to be smaller and umm phones keep getting smaller or something!" Not all creatures evolve to get smaller and I don't know why people compare creatures to phones. TVs are huge now anyway so if we're going the technology angle it Still doesn't make sense. No reason. Big robotic Pokemon could have been cool, now you have the little toy versions... Great...
These designs are insane, Iron Hands has to be my favorite futuristic looking one, but they’re all really nice. Koraidons shiny is dope though.
I prefer most of the past designs. But Iron moth, thorn, and valiant are probably my favorite of the paradox pokemon.
I think it's very interesting that a lot of the past forms are fighting type, they could have easily gone the lazy route and just made most of them rock/ground types. Same for the future forms and not just making every one steel

I’m really happy with the past forms introduce in scarlet, but I’m also really sad when it comes to the future forms in Violet because they look so “boring” and “bland”. It also doesn’t help that their shiny forms make the future forms even more “bland” by just spray painting them all chrome and calling it a day.
I actually love the future forms. They are such a good reference to how technology is slowing taking over society. They barely move compared to their present forms, showing how emotionless they are. I also love how only one is steel type.

More likely than not, these paradox Pokémon aren’t “real.” They’re not actually from the future or past.

2:02 I actually drew up a version of Iron Hands a long time ago before scarlet/violet that had some similarities like the floating hands and metal features, but instead of it being eletric fighting it was steel fighting. Idk where my drawing went but I feel awesome pulling a gamefreak before they did. Like Gamefreak should hit me up for mon ideas c'mon.

I have no plans to buy the games but as a person who loves all things futuritic, I find all the Paradox formes in Violet so cool-looking. My favorite is definitely Iron Valliant!
