NEET has a fundamental problem. Apart from the paper leaks and grace marks, the main problem is, that this exam isn't suitable for Indian healthcare. There's a reason that after the introduction of NEET, we see a marked drop in students allotted in Govt Medical colleges from rural areas(60% in 2013 to 49% in 2020) and, an even starker drop if we observe other socio-economic indicators. In the last 2-3 years, we have seen the first few batches of the NEET examinees graduate and rural healthcare all over the country is facing a shortage of doctors - Once you have an urban bias in graduated students, you will never see them stay long in rural areas.
Simple thought: Corruption is easy to tackle if it is fragmented, so remove central NEET, make it specific for a state or groups of states based on geography and economy.

Upsc is a subjective exam and leaking of papers cannot really chenge an outcome in entirety. Also, the curriculum of each student is different. Basically unlike the MBBS or engineering exams, there isn't a homogeneous bunch of subjects being tested objectively. So please don't be naive and praise upsc exam more than it should be. Also don't forget the real corruption comes in the last level of the examination, at the interview stage.

Comments from this person about MBBS without MD is zero makes no sense. A person who completes MBBS is still a fully trained doctor and can work with patients. MD provides specialisation in a particular area and increases scope of working in hospitals. In the long run, MD is always better than having only MBBS but is not end of world. On option of opening labs, the person forgets to look at the investment required. Working purely as a technician in other labs is not very rewarding and entails long hours of work. Similar is the case with nutritionist. What really is required is the Government invests the Education cess in opening new medical colleges and reduce the demand/supply gap. Unfortunately unless we do this, things will become worse. When I was a student 3 decades back, it was intense competition with 34% reservation and now can only imagine the situation with 52% reservation for General candidates.
