- In this video you will see the locations where the: School, Coin, News Stand, Candy Shop, and Factory scenes were all filmed. The spots where he found the coin in the sewer, bought the chocolate bar and unwrapped it to find the winning ticket. In the closing part of this video you be given a close-up look at the place used as the legendary Factory. Enjoy the walk through and see how some things have changed almost 50 years later!
I completed this Willy Wonka filming location tour in the early morning during our trip to Munich, Germany, on no coffee or shaving cream.. And I arrived back to the hotel before my wife woke up... Mission accomplished. Charlie Bucket List
It was pretty special to see these locations in person. I was able to find them with a lot of help from www.reelstreet....
Naturally, I can't enjoy this movie half as much these days but it's a childhood treasure that I will never forget.

@@NickP Hey anyone knows the actual name of the willy wonka factory used in the movie?
The shot at the very end.
Pure magic!
I never knew this was shot in Germany. Very dope👌🏼
Brian Tropea Thanks brother! Same here until I looked up locations in the area for the trip.

It’s just Me Awesome!
Awsome video Nicky.
Only thing missing is a shot of you running with the golden ticket. Lol.
Great job. AMAZING!!
HAHAHA Agreed Thanks a lot brother!
This was wonderful. Thank you. Cant believe this movie is officially 50 years old!!!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video. It is amazing how time flies.. and on that note lol, Happy New Year!!
This film is miles better than the remake with Johnny depp, gene wilder’s wonka is the best. He was made for that role
Well duh
I personally prefer the second movie because it's more faithful to the book than the original movie. Plus it's not a remake of the original movie, just another adaption for the book.
@@oldrestless uh?
Its my favourite. But the remake was more to the book than the original.
@@Adzcantsing yes true,
Thanks for sharing this is one of my all time favorite films brings back so many favorite memories Gene Wilder was perfect for that Role🥰🤩😍
Glad you enjoyed it, and I couldn't agree more. Thank you!

I'm watching the movie right now and started thinking about the filming locations, so I googled it and found/watched your video. Thankyou!
Lovely. The locations are like the ghosts of the past…all the adult cast are gone now, the children are grown.
This was awesome! I love finding filming locations but I’ve never traveled this far for one of them. I always loved this movie as a kid. So cool to see the real locations now. Well done!
Thanks a lot bud.. Glad you enjoyed it.. I checked out your new stadium video earlier.. Cool stuff
Thank You for share this video clip, lots things change though years. Nice look back great memories of film movie locations area.
Many changes over the years.. I'm glad it brought back some great memories for you!.. Thank you!

Hey Nick this was so cool to see thanks for taking us along on this walk have a great day :)
teri cope My pleasure Teri! Thanks for coming along !!
Wow just saw this, awesome video! Read earlier that today is the 53rd anniversary since the movie came out. Thanks again for sharing this very cool vid!
Thanks a lot!
Great video! I'll be in Europe next summer to watch soccer, and on June 30th 2021, I'll be standing outside of Wonkas factory. The 50 year anniversary of the movies release in USA!
That's classic! Hope you have great trip.
@@NickP Thanks so much! I'll arrive at 10am.
Johnny Five Haha Very good!
Many of those industrial buildings from the movie scene don’t last forever. Lots of building structures have changed years after years, wow.
Another great movie, awesome. You do such a great job. Thanks
MemphisMower Thanks a lot my friend!
Gene Wilder was an actor far before his time. He put forth so much enthusiasm into his roles.
I’ve been watching this movie a lot and it’s really fun to watch on Gene Wilder is not alive anymore but his performance and this is pretty amazing. That’s really cool that you went to the setting and location to Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. I love this.😊
Thanks for this great tour😁😁😁
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you.
Wow! This is awesome. Thanks so much for doing this! I plan on doing this myself one day. :)
Awesome video probably the best I've seen as Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory film location goes, you posted stuff iv never seen before, that's rare.. I was hoping to see their house Location but that was probably a studio
Epic Places First off, thanks a lot! I really enjoy finding those unknown or only seen in a movie locations. I also have a good time with the known variety but the rare finds are special. The house was built on a pathway along Lilienstrause. They dismantled after production. I couldn’t confirm the exact whereabouts.
A lot of people forget that German film companys are some of the biggest and most influential in Europe - a heritage of the 1920s when German cinema was world-leading. Marlene Dietrich, Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" or Murnau's "Nosferatu" were revolutionary and have inspired people like Ridley Scott, George Lucas or Tim Burton. Just like so many things, the movie industry in Germany was mainly destroyed by the Nazis for Propaganda purposes. Germany could never really "rebuild" it's own cinema culture except for a few films by Wim Wenders or Werner Herzog. But they still know how to support international movie productions as good as possible.
Awesome video!! So beautiful there
Crystal Wall Thanks a lot! It really is.. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Like so many I love this movie but I didn't know until recently it was filmed in Germany. So cool to see the original filming locations. Thanks!👍
Very cool! My pleasure, thank you!
Really interesting...thank you
Thanks a lot!
This is amazing, I'm going to come here myself when this lock down ends. Is the locations far from Munich Airport. Brillaint video well done
Awesome! Go for it... It was pretty surreal to visit these locations.. The School and Candy Shop Locations are pretty close, less than a 5 minute drive apart from each other. The Gate is about 10/15 minutes from where the Shop was at the time. The Gate is closest to the air port, which seemed to be about a half hour or so from that point. Greatly appreciate the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Oh, I'm not sure if you were a fan of Never Ending Story but the Studio in town has the movie prop Flying Dragon used in the movie on display. We didn't have time to go... Something to think about checking out.. Good Luck!
I dont write a lot of comments, but this was a great work here done from you ! Thank you so much for this very relaxed video.
That means a lot, thank you!
Cheers for this buddy this is awesome. Loved this.
Exploring with Dave Elsender Thanks a lot bud. Glad to hear it! My pleasure.
Nick P Was Here Were you there during early July? If so, this video would be a perfect tribute to Denise Nickerson (Violet Beauregarde) who past away on July 10th.
jevan1994 Yes it would be. I was there in June.
Nick P Was Here Were you there June 10th? That’s the day she passed.
jevan1994 June 2nd.. That’s kind of interesting because Gene Wilder’s bday is June 11th... And if you check the clock on the Church(the first stop of this tour).. The morning time looks like it’s 6:11... Pretty Wilde if I say so. Ha
One of the best where it was filmed shorts I’ve ever seen. Great job.
Wow! Thank you for making this! Beautifully done!
My pleasure.. Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Bro what the F*** you blew my mind with this filming location..lol you had to sing that line being there no doubt about it . Man this movie is on my top 10 favorite childhood movies..
West Coast Graffiti Haha! Glad you enjoyed that bro.... It is definitely a lasting childhood classic ... Not much of a singing voice but the concept kind of worked out. Lol
West Coast Graffiti I have some more good ones on deck. Coming Soon haha
I had seen this on your main page, I have been playing a lot of Willie Wonka machines lately and there is a new machine just out so thought it was about time to watch. Incredible as I watch I can visualize scenes in the movie too. Thanks for sharing your fabulous adventure! Cheers Nick....🥳🥂

“Up the airy mountain, down the rushing glen. We daren’t go a-hunting, for fear of little men...”
My sister and I are going to Munich in December. I want to see where the chocolate factory was! This is my favorite movie!
It really bothers me that building was built right between the clocktower and the gate. It sure ruined the chance to see the exact view from the movie :(
Same here!
Nick P Was Here great video btw, I really enjoyed it! I love how you managed to replicate those camera angles!
WayTwo Thanks a lot, glad to hear it!!
That’s European architecture for ya.
It is just awful! Why would they want to mess with that perfect view! That historic view!
Thank you so much brought fond memories of being a child and film came out my birth year ❤️♥️💕
My pleasure.. Oh, very cool... Thank you!
Great video , thank you sir. Well done. 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad to hear it and thank you as well!
The view at 7:59 is Amazing!!! Like if it were in another movie and the location got called Wonka's Ruins. It once thrived with people from all over and the winners awaiting to enter! Now its nothing but Silence of what Once Was! Love your video man !!!!! 💯
Awesomely done!!!! Thank you
Glad you like it and thank you too!
I got chills. Thank you so much!!!
You're so welcome! Thank you!
And we are the dreamers of dreams.. haha know it word for.word!! awesome

You do a really good job matching up the scenes. This is my 4th video so far and I'm truly enjoying them. Thanks and God bless.
That’s so great to hear, thanks again.
God bless you!
Very good!
Appreciate the comment!
Just found your page dude and have been binge watching… these are the most thorough filming locations video’s I’ve seen
That’s great, thanks a lot!
Its amazing how much of the Buildings are still recognizable 😍😍😍
Absolutely!... That blew my mind.
Loved it
Thanks a lot!
Awesome! Love the video.
So glad! Thanks a lot
Its really cool that Charlies school in the movie is virtually unchanged from 50 years ago. The street where the candy store and newstand were look the same too including the doorway next to where the candy store was. im sure both the candy store and newsstand were built just for the movie.
Now the big change is Wonkas factory. While the gate looks really cool and unchanged , everything else is very different. Like when everyone is waiting to go in and the huge crowds in front of the gate , the modern view shows a wooded area across a small street in front of the gate, That area had to have been cleared out for the movie and then left alone afterwards. And of course Wonkas factory itself - the large driveway is gone , just a small path surrounded by grass. you can see that they would have
built a special set for Wonka to come out of the door to the left where the path ends.
and of course no large smoke stacks and theres a huge eye sore of a building in the middle of where Wonkas main factory building was. still very cool though. id love to go there someday before i get too old.
Isn't that amazing? And yes, they build a few things here and there.
Thanks a lot for this! Tried to take my own tour on google maps but just got confused - appreciate that you pointed out specific landmarks from the film so I could work out where things stood :)
My pleasure... It can be a real task.. Glad you appreciated the video.. Thanks a lot!.. Let me know if you have a movie where you'd like to see the locations and I'll try to visit in the future.
Munich is so beautiful. It looks like illustrations from a kids book
Truly
Keep making videos of filming locations!
Thanks a lot! I will definitely keep them coming.
My favourite movie, I've always wanted to do something like that, hope you had fun!
I like your attention to detail with some of the more obscure locations, it's a shame the locations have changed so much, especially the "Golden ticket drain". It would surely be a sightseers dream for a photo opportunity 😊
Great work 👍🍫
Great job!
So shines a good deed in a weary world...
Thank you kindly!
Great job as always Nick!
I really appreciate that!!
Nick P was here, that was cool. Do some more filming locations man. I also thought the trend wolf bowling alley filming location was cool. Take care
Thanks a lot! I will definitely keep the filming locations coming!

Great video mate! 🏆🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks a lot!
@@NickP Nick, no annoying music, no begging for money, no acting like a children's TV presenter, and best of all, you didn't try and persuade me to buy a VPN... WHATEVER THAT IS? This was like the good old days, when content was actually content!!!! I love you.... Subscribed 🏆🤣🏆

What a thing to say.. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks a lot!!
R.I.P. Gene Wilder aka “Willly Wonka” the best movie ever, it will always live on forever until the end of time. Wish I could experience the spot he was at, good job buddy....

This is awesome! Love it!! Although...where are the people at as you walk around? You see no cars moving, no people walking around other than at the beginning of your video. Interesting 🤔 (was just wondering 😃)
Good question! It was early morning, also why I'm trying to keep my voice down.. Thanks a lot!
Amazing video! This is my childhood film! Do you know the locations of when the mother sings Cheer Up Charlie?
Awesome, thanks. I’m not sure about that but when I find out I’ll comment back the location!

@@keith4usa1 I think I have been to some of them as well but I didn’t realize it because it’s been so long since I saw the movie. I think some scenes were filmed at the Castle Neuschwanstein. Someone made a comment on that video about that... Either way, that would be cool, thanks.
@@NickP Also Rothenburg ob de Tauber for the Child Catcher scenes..Yes That was the Castle down in Fussen.....

Everything has changed throughout the years, hard to imagine that was the chocolate factory.
