Rance 808 I’ve always wondered why Lex had such a vehement animosity for Kal throughout the years in the films and the comics. Hell even in All-Star his argument was basically, “He’s different because he comes from a different planet and our sun benefits him, don’t you think that’s unfair” Hate and love are two sides of the same coin, Smallville did a fantastic job of showing how close these two men were, brothers in all but blood, meeting as children during the initial meteor shower, and coming back into each other’s orbits during the high school years. It’s so well done how they are such great friends, but the choice to keep their own secrets instead of taking each other into confidence is what ended up tearing apart their relationship and turning their dearest of friendships, into the bitterness of rivalries.

When clark needed help lex always answered ofcourse. Still clark calse him selfish and in this case says that he just doesn't try hard enough for people to be proud of him. This just seems like another case of clark not having all the information. Because what started the hate Lional had towards Lex is that he thought that Lex killed his brother. But it was in fact his wife that did it. Lex took the fall for her to protect her from his father. Lex always tried to do good. it just never was recognised. People always thought the worst of him. Many blame Clark for not telling Lex the truth about his powers and heritage, and they think that Lex would've turned out differently if he was trusted. But this entitlement to know someone else's secrets stems from the need for control that turned Lex from a good friend to a jealous bitter man. Respecting boundaries and letting it go was the only way Lex could've fought his inner demons.

Everyone always seems to forget that Clark barely ever told anyone his secret until he had to. Why did Lex, a man that came into Clark's life as a high school freshman, expect him to tell his secret, when he had never told his lifelong friends? Clark accepted him as a friend, yes, but there was always a level of unwariness in his face every time Lex went on his weird tangents.
"Our friendship will mark legend" "I don't want anything to get in the way of our friendship, Clark"
Not to mention that one of Clark's subtle abilities is super-thinking. He ALWAYS could tell when an ill-intended bad guy was in his presence. Clark could tell Lex had one foot in darkness early on. Would you tell a friend your innermost secret if even for a moment you could see darkness in him? No. And it didn't take long for Lex to prove himself not 100% trustworthy. (The room where he keeps the crashed car episode).
People always say "Lex wouldn't've turned on Clark if he'd told him the truth." Maybe. Or maybe Lex would've turned on him SOONER. Someone as sociopathic as Lex would've eventually abused Clark's trust and asked him for something to do with his powers or alien heritage ( Like Earth-2 Lionel Luthor with his Clark).
What if Lex had sucked Clark in and made him just like his Earth-2 counterpart?
I don't believe Lex would've changed. If anything, the unconfirmation of Lex never knowing for sure Clark's secret was what kept him from snapping and eventually try to oppose Clark.

Human anatomy isn't made for that kind of power so that caused her heart to develop a life-threatening condition. Later on, Clark was killed and brought back to life by Jor-El. He was told someone will eventually die to bring balance to the universe and that person was Lana, but Clark asked for another change so the universe ended up killing his father instead. Whatever way you look at it, Clark did cause, at least indirectly, his father's death.

Absolutely! We make our destiny 100%. We always have a choice. But the conflict in this particular scene is that both Lex and Clark aren't somehow 'responsible' for becoming who they are. And that their fathers' deaths are somehow someone's responsibility. Lex of course physically pushed his father out the building, while Clark's father made a deal with 'higher power'. We always get to choose how we respond to the environments we are in. Great acting - I wish the both of them did more film.

Although at the end of the day Jonathan's life was going to end soon no matter..if it wasn't a heart attack that day it probably would have been relatively soon, where Lana had decades of life left in her.
