    Delwynne and I love South Africa's largest and least populated province, the Northern Cape. In May 2021, we took a two week, 4,000km overlanding trip in our Mahindra Scorpio S10 through the province visiting several remote and beautiful locations. In this episode we set off from Johannesburg, travel west on the N14, stay at Red Sands in Kuruman and then visit Augrabies Falls National Park and Riemvasmaak.
    This was a fun series to make and I put significant effort into it. Follow along to see some unusual, but beautiful sights in the Northern Cape.

    I only saw this video now in 2023 and how excited I was about your expedition. I work for a government department at national doing monitoring and Northern cape is my responsibility. I must say I fell in love with the province and I have been everywhere in the province. The distances between towns are enormous. Thank you for the video it is so good including your editing.

    What a nice segment. I saw some familiar places. I am planning to do a similar route, from GP, stopover at Gariep Dam, Montagu, Clam Williamstown, and an in betweener back to GP.
    Awesome video.

    Hi Steve. What was the trail over the orange river in the old riverbed that u followed for the 68km?
    Nice vid 👍

      @SteveNuns Před 2 lety

      Hi Alan. I can't find a name or a route number for the trail. But to get to it, you travel North on R359 and then turn right towards Vredesvallei. There is a small settlement there where you do a left and another right turn which crosses the river. Then just follow the trail which follows the Molopo river and ends up at Riemvasmaak.

    Nice video. How was the gravel from Augrabies to Riemvasmaak? A friend of mine did it last year but turned around and went via Kakamas instead. He told me it was quite dodgy and technical terrain. I have a 4x4. do you recommend it or would you advise to take another route.

      Thanks for watching my video. We did this trip two years ago - mid-2021 - two years ago. The road from Augrabies to Riemvasmaak wasn’t that bad. It was easily doable with a 4x4. You really should not have a problem with it.

      Hi there. Thanks for watching.
      My maps are done with a plug-in on Final Cut Pro X called FCPX Maps 1.1. If you edit your videos with Final Cut Pro, you can buy the plug-in here:

    Are there ablution facilities at Riemvasmaak???

    • @SteveNuns
      @SteveNuns Před 2 lety

      Hi Peter. Yes, there are ablutions. But they are quite far from the camping and are very rudimentary (e.g. no hot water). But they are clean and adequate.
