  • The Center for MEMES and the Digital Diversity Network discuss AfroFuturism, which combines world-building (and often elements of sci-fi, fantasy, or historical fiction) with uniquely African and African-American themes.
MEMES Executive Director Jay Tucker, Tananarive Due, Ytasha Womack, and Kamil Oshundar, explore the genre and some of the incredible worlds that have been imagined by Afrofuturist creators, discuss how these stories reach audiences on the printed page and on the screen, while also discussing the cultural impact of this work and the unique conversation that these stories have with Black culture.

I am that✨✨✨Is it ok to think I have an inner diasporatic displacement in this society as a lost creative force who has been disillusioned by the industry’s picking the team and leaving me out?. So many talented artists feel a sense of this diasporatic loss. Luckily I have a contentment in the creative process alone. Big Up AFROFUTURISM - AFRO MUSIC BOOM WA LA! Big up King Brit! ROOOOOTS! Reggae music is the greatest diasporatic gift ever to have been finessed into the many arms that massage the souls of the lost!

Love the analysis of race as technology (made me think of scenes from Tron)…Pumzi was dope, nice background…Can’t wait for the many adaptations in work.
