Spot on! Previous seasons of Coke Studio, especially seasons 7-10 produced by Strings, were very heavy on folk songs and many songs you see are a mix of two. Most of the times they just took a few main lines out of a folk song and added additional lyrics. I think you should react to 'Paar Chanaa De' from season 9, I won't say too much since you guys are good at pointing things out lol. Hope you enjoy it, it's my fav feel good song from CS 🇵🇰

Absolutely correct this is a folk song! Some recommendations for you guys from old coke studio seasons: charkha nolakha, hairaan hua, ishq di booti, ishq aap bhe awalla, jal pari, uddi ja
This is a folk song that they essentially redid but only with the one very recognisable phrase of the song (latthay di chaadar…”, QB’s part of the song). I think you guys would really like “Faasle” by her and Kaavish, which is beautiful love ballad, and also ‘Sammi Meri Waar” with her and Umair Jaswal, which is a lot more peppy and showcases a totally different side of her voice.

All of Coke Stuio Sason 13 & 14 songs were original and in previous seasons it was a mix like this song as you rightly icked up is a folk song mix with original song, so in short in past seasons it was either original songs or mix of original+old famous songs with completely new touch.
One of my favorite coke studio performances. A rendition of an old pop song, Dekh Tera Kya, by Alamgir from the 70s/80s combined seamlessly with a traditional Punjabi folk song that’s extremely popular in both Pakistan and India, this number is a treat to the eyes and ears ♥️.
Latthay Di Chaadar is a really reaaly old punjabi folk song. You can find versions of it in the Punjabi communities of both India & Pakistan!
