Oh man... Any hope I had of talking Jay into doing this with me just ended with this video... Jay DOES NOT ride in that there weather... Hahahaha
Nice one Darren. Good on you two for slogging it out through that weather mate. Looked absolutely obismal! And good job on the 11th... :D
So much water in one day is really intense😱. A whole day of showering is unhealthy😅. The last time I was allowed to ride in the rain for a long time was on the Forab glacier🥴. Great performance from you and again a nice video series from Grischa Trailride. Thanks for the ride and have a good evening buddy. Ride on🤙
Thanks Christoph I remember that day on the Vorab, if only we had had a warm building to rest in at the top of this climb - that made the Vorab day much easier 😉
Oh mate what an insane day well done!!
Cheers Gav! We so need to get out for a ride again. It's been too long!
Oooof "F" that - I am pretty sure as a Schönwetterbiker I would have noped out! 😂 Mucho respecto to you guys! That warm shower afterwards must have felt AMAZING though. Also, those river crossings, WOW!
Btw I did that climb as part of a bigger venture - on a Transalp where we climbed a continuous 2200m (?) from Chur up to Duranna / Grüensee and then on over Weissfluhjoch to Davos on a very, very hard day a few years ago... 😅
It was a tough one for sure, and the river crossings were wild. Getting to the end was probably the best part of the day though 😉
Respect to you. 2,200m is a monster day in the saddle!
BTW: Did you get in the shower for the full experience? 😂
@@TrailTrackerSwitzerland not sure what you mean with the shower...? back then it was a pretty hot summer day though (although on top of Weissfluhjoch it was cold)
Wet track battle. One of the few trips I am not envious . ;-)
This was a tough day for sure. One of those rides that wasn't much fun at the time, but still good to look back on.
Holy crap that reminds me of my toughest races years ago. I rmember riding the sellaronda hero once in pouring rain throughout the day. Only covered by a windstopper vest and armwarmers, but otherwise clad in lycra. I never shivered that much again ever in my life. But you were tenacious and took the challenge. I expected that a lot of teams would call it a day in the morning. Great fun to watch again Darren, you have a special gift for storytelling, that makes your videos so enjoyable!
Thank you Christian, it's always nice to hear that my attempts at story telling are appreciated. It was a tough day, but the second it was over, I knew I wouldn't have changed anything about it. There is a certain satisfaction that comes with conquering the elements like that.
@@TrailTrackerSwitzerland Absolutely. I remember finishing the Sellaronda Hero after 6 hours in the rain and shaking uncontrollably for almost two hours afterwards. But already the next day I decided to come back the next year and hope for dry weather then ... which actually turned out to be the case in the following year.
@@silvanandermatt1096 Oops, deleted your comment by accident. I like the concept: downrivering! I'll have to add that to my mountainbiking vocabulary 👍
Ey Darren, ich war so froh das ich dieses Jahr nicht dabei war ! :)
Good to hear from you dude. Day 3 was very tough, but it was still an amazing event. Maybe next year?!?
@@TrailTrackerSwitzerland WHat about Enduro Team in Davos? I try to apply for a mixed team with my girlfriend. She is frightened, but a good motivation to improve :)
Awesome, love riding in the wet. What type of brake pads do you have organic or sintered for this?
Thanks dude! Riding in the wet can be fun, but this was just a bit of long slog and Despite all my best efforts I was seriously cold come the end.
As far as brakes go, I always run sintered pads. My bike gets quite a bit of bike park action, as well as some very long descents, so sintered just make more sense.
😳😳😳 ich wär glaub liege bllibe im Hotel! krassi type 💪🏼👍🏽👌🏼✌🏻
Es wär wahrschinli gschieder gsi 🙈 S'video wär aber nöd so guet gsi 😉😂
I would've not gone out! the miserable conditions would have insured it
I’m pretty sure that I would have said the same thing in your position, but somehow that desire not to quit kicks in and before you know it, you’re just sucking it up and making the best of it 😉
Well done. That was grim 😕
Cheers Jamie. Thankfully, the grim ones rarely seem as bad after the fact as they do at the time.
What a lovely weather 😂😂
😮
The rivers are the best 🫣🤣
Extra challenge
Thanks Marco. You're right the river crossings were fun. We were so wet by that time, it didn't matter that water was over our feet and my waterproof socks were filling up with water!
Extremely nice! Thanks for sharing :)
You’re welcome and thanks for watching 🤘
