This is glorious, been searching for "making selling soy candles" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my brother in law got amazing results with it.

This candle is wayy to pretty just to be melting away. If I bought these I would just collect them and never use them, unless it was an emergency; like if the power went out for 7 hrs straight.
They are gorgeous when you do though. The candles are typically thick enough (plus are dipped in an acrylic coating) that the carving doesn't melt and glows from the inside without melting through.

In a culture where beauty is commonplace...and artists much prized and admired...it would be normal to burn such candles as a way of enjoying the art every day....wouldn't it?

When you find a unique, colorful candle that you want to be yours, the one with nothing like it anywhere in the world, it won't necessarily matter to you how many other artworks exist.
You can burn it down 5 centimetres then put in area light of votive and keep refilling it.

There was a retired couple that lived near me when I was growing up that made these kind of candles... They were like, super good at it, it was kind of weird. There is like crazy science to getting the wax the right consistency.

@@kimberlyhood4095 How's about we stop the snobbery over who does or does not recognize Beethoven. Theater music isn't for everyone, and unlike 100+ years ago, folk music and music you had to play yourself isn't your only alternative. It's not THAT surprising that people don't recognize a lot of classical songs when they're not that important any more unless you're taking musical theory, in theater, or doing opera/choir.
I, personally, don't like a lot of classical orchestral music. It's impressive, and most of it has earned its timelessness, sure, but its not for me unless it's played for an appropriate event or used in an appropriate setting. I don't believe the shit about babies who listen to classical music are smarter or more "cultured". Nor do I believe that a person's musical tastes are inferior or superior to anyone else's. My personal tastes are rock, a little punk, a little rap, and a LOT of instrumental video game music. Miss me with that snobbery.

From what I've heard there's no need to worry about the designs on the candles getting ruined while they're lit. They're specially made so that won't happen.
I have several of these :) you can light them. they burn down the middle and hold the outside carving :) once it burns down a little bit, you can put a tea light in the middle, depending on size. I have 2 of this type of candle I've had for over 25 years and they're still beautiful :)

Beautiful candles. I had a pair I was always saving for the perfect occasion. The occasion never came, the candles melted waiting. (A couple of very hot summers, no A/C). If I ever get a new pair, I will enjoy them just because they are beautiful.
Karen K I got one for Christmas and decided to burn it because too often just as you said we don’t get to enjoy things we save for too long! It looked gorgeous burning because the inside was lighter so the carved gaps looked like little stained glass windows. It poured all over the floor in the end because I burned it all!

Honestly I think the music is psychedelic I like it.
So amazing i could watch this for hours
I took regular knives and used a propane torch to heat and bend them into U and L shapes so that I could carve and not 'nick' the other wax petals. I also used a grinder to file them down for intricate carvings. To level the candles, I would spin them and lower them onto a hot-plate. The spinning ensured a good leveling. To coat them, I used Floor wax diluted with Denatured Alcohol.
