I can really respect the feeling sometimes that it would be refreshing to have nothing and start from scratch. It’s a fleeting feeling but it can be a helpful exercise when things get overwhelming. I loved this from the first time I heard it… but I’m also not religious. And the hook is 🔥🔥🔥

I also believe that he wrote this when he was really really angry about being sick for so long. You know when you’ve just had it you’re like F everything. It’s not my favorite song from him just because I can’t listen to it with the kids in the car but I do think it’s a great song. And I think we can all relate to that feeling of anger and hopelessness.

Suggestions for some excellent Ren stuff from about five years ago: Life Is Funny, Everybody Drops, Hold On, Heretic. Depression is powerful but, well, depressing, and quite short; it might work well paired with Ready For You, a more hopeful track (and one of my top 5 for Ren).

To me the song is talking about what people do to each other and the planet. Someone is always killing something.
